Game Notes:
"The NFC East title is still up for grabs.
Now you still don't know if you can believe in the Giants. The Redskins played very well, and the Giants fought back but couldn't stop them. They were hurt by a few bad calls, but that's not why they lost.
Chase Blackburn was a busy guy again this week, filling in for injured middle linebacker Antonio Pierce. Last week Chase had no practice and came up with 9 sacks. Today, in only his second start, he even came up with an interception and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown. Unfortunately, he was injured in the 3rd quarter and did not return to the game.
Chad Morton did a real nice job, and Amani Toomer also had another great game. He caught 6 passes for 85 yards and had one touchdown, and he had another called back because of a holding penalty. Cornerback Will Allen could have played better, and Jay Feeley is still having problems kicking field goals. The Giants have one week to pull it all together against Oakland if they want to win the NFC East title."

Game Notes:
"You knew the Redskins had
momentum and a very loud crowd on their side, and that the Giants aren't the same team on the road as they are at home. Still things started out looking good when Chad Morton returned the opening kick to the 50 yard line. Manning took the field and threw his first pass way downfield to Plaxico Burress, but Plaxico failed to make the catch. The Giants went three and out and David Tyree downed the ball on the Washington 2 yard line. That didn't stick, because Tyree was hit with an illegal touch penalty that shouldn't have been called since he had been forced out of bounds on the play.
The Redskins went on to score on their opening drive with a 17 yard touchdown pass to Santana Moss. Their 80 yard drive downfield mostly consisted of a heavy mixture of running plays by Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts, with a few passes thrown in by Mark Brunell. Joe Gibbs stuck with that formula for the rest of the game. He had his offense moving the ball with running plays to the tune of 33, 40, 34 and 40 carries over the last four games, and Portis and Betts combined for 40 total rushes today against the Giants. Quarterback Mark Brunell and his replacement after he was injured, Patrick Ramsey, only threw a total of 18 passes all game.
Meanwhile, Tiki Barber ran the ball only 16 times compared to Eli Manning passing on 41 plays. That's not usually the formula for success for the Giants, and it didn't work in this game, even with Manning getting the ball to Tiki on 6 of those passing plays. Now the Giants go down to the wire next week in Oakland where they face Kerry Collins and the Raiders."

Redskins Santana Moss had 5 receptions for 160 yards and 3 touchdowns.
