Game Notes:
"You knew Uncle Bill wasn't going to make it easy on the Giants. Somehow
he was able to shut down the Giants offense which was used to putting up an average 34 points a game. The Giants scored only 13 points and even though it looked like the Giants defense did
their job, you have to look at the 312 passing yards they gave up to Drew Bledsoe.
Every time a quarterback drops back to pass against the Giants you cringe, because you know most often, it's going to be a completion. The Cowboys had 25 first downs this game and most of
the time they stopped themselves. It's easy to be fooled by the low score, but the Cowboys held the ball for over 40 minutes. The Giants defense couldn't get them off the field, and the offense
couldn't sustain a drive."
Game Notes:
"How many times can you go up against a Bill Parcells coached
team and win? Tom Coughlin did it 2 times against his former boss last year and that was pushing it. The Cowboys stopped the Giants for most of the game. The Cowboys held the Giants to 92 yards
and only 4 first downs for the first 3 quarters. The Giants didn't convert a 3rd down until there was less than four minutes left in the game. When they had a shot to tie things up, they chose
to put rookie Brandon Jacobs in the game in a really tough spot. It was in the 4th quarter with a 2nd and 3 at the Dallas goaline and the Giants were trailing 13-6.
Brandon knew he needed yards and Cowboys knew most of all they had to go after the ball, and they did. The fumble stopped the drive, and cost the Giants a chance to score. Tiki Barber had been
effective up until then, and going to the rookie for the first time in this game in this crucial spot was a poor coaching choice. The Giants were lucky to get one more shot and tie it up, but
in overtime the Cowboys got the ball first and then the winning fieldgoal."
