Game Notes:
"It was an exciting home game for a number of reasons today on 9/11, but I'm not going to go into that right now. As for the game, the Giants showed us a lot of what we'd hoped to see
after watching those preseason games. As advertised, Plaxico Burress handled Eli Manning's first pass of the game for 8 yards, and on the 3rd down and 1, Brandon Jacobs nailed the first down
and even more.
Jeremy Shockey had the next completion for 9 yards, and on this 3rd and 1, Brandon did it again, and much more, for 21 yards. Then, Tiki Barber who didn't do much on his first two carries,
broke one for 16 yards to the Arizona 20 yard line. Shockey had the next completion for the Giants first touchdown of the season.
The Cards fought back, but the Giants defense held them to a field goal, and on Manning's second pass attempt, the ball came off of David Tyree's hands and was intercepted and returned for
a touchdown. The Cards had a 10-7 lead, but that interception didn't shake Manning. He was cool under pressure when things went wrong and I was impressed with his performance. The Giants owned
the game after the second half, and it felt good to go home with a win. "
Game Notes:
"This was about as much as any fan could want in an opening day game. The Giants were clicking on offense, defense and special
teams. There were interceptions, great punt and kickoff returns and sacks. Reaching for things to work on would be the offensive
line. The Cards got good pressure on Manning and by the end of the first half, he was sacked 3 times, hit 5 times, and hurried 7 times.
It was strange that when right tackle Kareem McKenzie left the game in the 2nd quarter with an ankle sprain, that they actually seemed to do better. Jeremy Shockey also had an ankle sprain right
near the end of the game. Manning looked confident, but he had a number of bad throws. Then again, he didn't play much in preseason so you have to factor that in."

Notes:
This was Kurt Warner's third straight opening day at Giants Stadium with his third different team.
Six different players scored touchdowns for the Giants - Tiki Barber, Brandon Jacobs, Jeremy Shockey, Plaxico Burress, Willie Ponder and Chad Morton.
The last time the Giants had six different players score a touchdown in a game was on Nov. 27, 1966.
It was the most points the Giants have scored on opening day in 34 years when they defeated the Green Bay Packers, 42-40, on Sept. 19, 1971.
Jeff Feagles fourth punt of the game in the 3rd quarter was the 1,368th of his career, a new NFL record.
Jeff Feagles has now booted more punts than any player in NFL history. He punted six times to increase his career total to 1,370. The old record of 1,367 was held by former Giant Sean Landeta.
Jeff Feagles played in his 273rd career game, tying him with placekicker Norm Johnson for 12th on the all-time list.
Chad Morton's 52 yard punt return was the Giants' first punt return touchdown in 91 regular season games. Tiki Barber scored on an 85-yard punt return against
Dallas on Oct. 18, 1999.
The last time the Giants had a kickoff return and a punt return for a touchdown in the same game was Oct. 30, 1955 at Washington.
Amani Toomer did not catch a pass, ending his streak of consecutive games played with at least one reception at 98. The last time Toomer played and did not
catch a pass was Dec. 6, 1998 - against the Cardinals in Arizona.
Arizona finished with 31 net rushing yards, the lowest total by a Giants opponent since Washington ran for 29 yards on Dec. 3, 2000.
