Giants win against a tough Carolina team 27-21.
Eli Manning was 3-of-9 for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Tim Hasselbeck was 7-of-15 for 96 yards and 1 touchdown.
David Tyree had 2 catches for 113 yards and a 90 yard touchdown.
Amani Toomer had 1 catch for a 41 yard touchdown.
Brandon Jacobs had 9 carries for 38 yards.
Corey Webster had an interception and recovered a fumble.
Willie Ponder had a 49 yard kick return.

Game Notes:
"It always feels good to leave the stadium with a win, but I was expecting more from the Giants. It looked like our second team defense was out there against the Panther's offense because they really pushed us around. The defense really made some great individual plays (was that Will Allen out there with an INT?) to keep us in the game and that was great, but it's not something you can count on every game. Our offense also looked overmatched. Are the Panthers that good or are we behind where we should be in preseason play?
Our special teams unit looks real good and there was outstanding play by David Tyree and Corey Webster. One thing caught my eye, and I don't know if it was intentional or not, but after David Tyree slowed up on a deep ball from Tim Hasselbeck which he could have caught, it seemed that Tim Carter became Hasselbeck's primary target. Anyway, it's on to the Jets next week and let's hope the Giants get it all together for that game."

Game Notes:
"Eli Manning must have thought he was left back a year, because the offensive line didn't give him much time to work with. Manning had to scramble on almost every play, and his stats reflected that, as he completed just 3 of his 9 passes. Luckily his receivers made the most of it with two of those completions going for long touchdowns, one by David Tyree and another by Amani Toomer. Manning got swamped on one play where defensive end Julius Peppers blew past right tackle Kareem McKenzie, knocked the ball out of Manning's hand and ran it in for a touchdown. Overall, Manning looked cool under the intense pressure.

Tim Hasselbeck was under the same heat, but still held his own leading the Giants on two scoring drives. On one of those, Hasselbeck got off a nice 6 yard touchdown pass to Tim Carter. Jesse Palmer didn't get into this game and Jared Lorenzen barely had a chance as the Giants offensive line continued to struggle against an eager Panthers defense. They sacked Lorenzen twice.

The Giants couldn't stop the Panthers, who came away with 15 first downs in the first half to the Giants 3, and the Giants were lucky to have those turnovers or this wouldn't have been much of a game. Tom Coughlin said it all in his halftime interview saying that the Giants had trouble stopping the Panthers, got no pressure on their quarterback, in pressure situations they got to our quarterback and we got the ball downfield in no pressure situations."

Eli Manning played the entire first half and suffered a sprained elbow.
X-rays taken at halftime were negative.

Giants got 6 turnovers from their defense.

Cornerback William Peterson left the game in the first quarter with a sprained left knee and did not return.

Giants broke the Panthers 10 game preseason win streak.

This was the first time the Giants have beaten Carolina in any game.
