Giants lose to the Saints 45-23.
Eli Manning went 24-of-41 for 352 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Tiki Barber rushed for 60 yards on 15 attempts.
Jeremy Shockey caught 6 passes for 101 yards.
Plaxico Burress caught 5 passes for 52 yards and 1 TD.
David Tryee caught 5 passes for 52 yards and 1 TD.
Amani Toomer caught 4 passes for 84 yards.

Game Notes:
"In the first drive, the Giants looked hot. You had to wonder that if Coughlin hadn't benched Plaxico Burress maybe they would have come away with 7 points instead of 3 and that looked big with the halftime score at 21-20. In the end, I guess it really didn't. Our defense couldn't stop them from scoring after that. Jeremy Shockey made some great catches in this game, especially that one that got us to the San Diego 4 yard line with 2 minutes left in the half.
Despite the fact that Manning was booed bigtime, he personally had a great game. Anyway, all the big deal about going to San Diego is over and done. The next time these two teams are scheduled to meet is at Giants stadium in 2009."

Game Notes:
"After two games, Eli Manning had completed 23 of 47 passes for 337 yards. He had 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Manning said, 'It is nowhere near what I think I can do. I am just learning to feel a little more comfortable in the huddle.' Even though there was no chance for him to feel comfortable in San Diego, he looked like a seasoned quarterback.
The Chargers were tough against the Giants running game all night, and even Brandon Jacobs couldn't make his usual 3rd down and 1. That put even more pressure on Manning who had to deal with many 3rd and long situations and he did that well. Manning was very alert. He stepped up in the pocket when he sensed trouble and he scrambled around when he had to.
On defense, the Giants couldn't stop Charger quarterback Drew Brees who completed almost every pass. They couldn't even stop running back LaDainian Tomlinson when he threw a pass or when he was running. The Giants lost this one, but Manning's performance was the one bright spot you've been looking for. He finished 24-for-41 for 352 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions."
