Game Notes:
"It was a beautiful day at the stadium today, perfect for playing a football game, and if you attended, you got to see the Giants
make football history firsthand. This wasn't just an ordinary team record, mind you, but an NFL record that will probably stand a good long time. Never before had a team scored a touchdown,
on a punt return, a kickoff return and an interception all in one game. Unfortunately, it was against the Giants.
The Vikings, coming off a big win, played inspired, and the Giants, except for the defense, played like they were in a daze. Eli Manning
was awful again, and this time he didn't get away with it. What ever happened to the saying that if you give any NFL quarterback time, he'll pick you apart? The offensive line drew a few penalties,
but they did give him time. The receivers dropped a few easy catches. That didn't help Manning out, and today, bad play spread like wildfire to the special teams unit as well.
The defense held the Vikings to just 12 yards on the ground. They kept the Giants in this game, never giving up anything but a fieldgoal.
As usual, on offense, 'Get the ball to Barber' seems always to be the answer. Tiki had another stand out game. He led the team in catches, yards receiving, and of course in rushing. Tiki was
the go-to guy to run the ball in for the touchdown and then he ran it in again for the two points needed to tie it up.
Then when it looked like the Giants would pull this one out, it just wasn't meant to be. On the last drive, the defense gave up three
first down passes to set up the Vikings winning field goal. Now just be happy that this same game wasn't played against the Eagles. That would have been much harder to take. The Giants have
to figure out how to get Manning back on track before they play them next week, same time, same place."
Game Notes:
"The second half of the season started today at Giants Stadium, and remarkably, playing
at home against a team that really the Giants have dominated, a team plagued all season with problems on and off the field, should have resulted in an easy win. Instead, Mike
Tice, the head coach who never catches a break, caught one today. His 3-5 Vikings beat the surging 6-2 Giants in their own home town, and even make NFL history scoring a touchdown on an interception,
a kickoff return, and a punt return. This was surprising considering Minnesota had ranked 23rd in punt return average, and 28th in kick return average.
Talk about breaks, today at the half, the Vikings had a total of just 6 offensive yards, but were leading the Giants 7-6. Mike Tice,
as the head coach, drew a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. He was tackled and severely injured on the sidelines, and he got to see his struggling team lose a game-long lead in the
final two minutes, and yet still come away with a win. I guess you call it even-up for the Giants - Minnesota 41-0 playoff
slaughter game.
Try not to think that in the past two seasons, the Giants over the
second half hold a 1-15 record, and this year's second half is starting out 0-1. If you feel bad, remember the Giants are still in first place and tomorrow you get to watch the Eagles and
Dallas beat up on each other on Monday Night Football."

Notes:
Eli Manning's 3rd-quarter touchdown pass to Amani Toomer, was the 10th consecutive game in which he threw for a score.
Tiki Barber's 111 receiving yards were a career-high and increased his total to 4,451.
It moved him past Bob Tucker and into eighth place on the franchise's career list.
Jeff Feagles appeared in his 281st consecutive game, one shy of the NFL mark set by former Vikings defensive end Jim Marshall.
Michael Strahan played in his 184th game, tying him with Lawrence Taylor and Joe Morrison for third place on the franchise's career list.
Giants defense did not allow a touchdown for the third consecutive game.
Vikings rushed for only 12 yards, the lowest total by a Giants opponent since New Orleans ran for 11 yards on Dec. 20, 1993.
Vikings safety Darren Sharper had 3 interceptions, including one he returned for a 92-yard touchdown on the first play of the second quarter.
Sharper, intercepting 3 passes, became the first Giants opponent to accomplish that since Washington's Vernon Dean picked off three passes from Phil Simms
on Sept. 16, 1984.
Vikings Moe Williams was the last player to return a kickoff for a touchdown against the Giants, also in Giants Stadium in 1999.
Vikings became the first team in NFL history to score on an interception return, kickoff return and punt return in the same game.
