Tiki Barber had 11 carries for 37 yards.
Tiki Barber had 5 catches for 33 yards.
Dorsey Levens had 8 carries for 37 yards.
Lance Legree had 1 sack.
Game Notes:
"No matter what, you have to watch the Giants play. There's always something you just have to see. You would have missed that dumb cell phone stunt that New Orleans receiver Joe Horn
pulled. He had it hidden in the padding of one of the goal posts, and after Horn scored a touchdown, he pulled it out and went through the motions of making a phone call on the way back to
the bench.
The refs went through their own motions, throwing a flag, and they hit Horn with a 15 yard penalty for unsportsman like conduct. Horn's touchdown catch gave
the Saints a 17-7 lead, but his penalty assessed on the following kickoff got the Giants a shot to get right back at them. The Giants had the ball at near midfield and Jesse Palmer completed
a 39 yard pass to David Tyree. Now at the Saints 23 yard line, the Giants stalled when Visanthe Shiancoe got a 15 yard unsportsman like conduct penalty. They got it back down to the Saints
25 yard line and Saints defensive tackle Kenny Smith blocked Matt Bryant's 43 yard field goal attempt. Fred Thomas picked it up and ran 64 yards to
the endzone for a touchdown. The extra point made the score 24-7, and the game was really over at that point.
The Saints went on to score three more passing touchdowns against the Giants weak secondary. The Giants couldn't add to their score, and that was that. Now
it's onto Dallas next week, and the way the Giants are playing, I'm not looking forward to that."
Game Notes:
"The Giants had some rough competition to overcome. I'm not talking about the New Orleans Saints. They were tough enough as you can see from
the final score. I'm talking about the CBS Survivor show that was playing directly against them. If you switched to Survivor, you got to find out
the final winner and hear more about each player in the game - very exciting.
If you stayed with the Giants you found that you even knew less about their players than the ones on that reality show. Anyway quarterback Jesse Palmer did
little to make you feel comfortable with him at quarterback. He started out showing that he couldn't handle the game speed, wasted a timeout right away, and before long was sacked. Jesse did
run once for 26 yards, and he hit David Tyree for 39 yards, but about half of his completions, 7 of the 15, went to the running backs, Tiki Barber and Dorsey Levens.
The Giants showed some consistency. They have now scored only 7 points for the third week in a row. On the bright side, that takes a lot of heat off the defense,
because it doesn't matter much if they give up 45 points or hold the other team to 8. It's still a loss. Maybe with another week's practice Jesse Palmer and his rookie friends will look a
bit better, or maybe it's time to say 'wait until next year.'"
