Game Notes:
"I can't believe it. I just can't believe we lost that game. I hate to do these reports when the Giants lose like this, because all that sticks with you is the bad stuff. OK, I have my
notes, so here goes - It was a pretty nice day for a game at the stadium, a little on the cool side, but there was some sun.
It was exciting right away when Mike Barrow knocked the ball loose and Shaun Williams recovered it at midfield. Unfortunately, the Giants drive was killed when they tried a reverse, and lost
the ball and about 20 yards.
Then the refs made that bad call on Ralph Brown for pass interference. When we saw the replay we couldn't believe it, and that big 41
yard gift from the refs got the Eagles to our 33 yard line, and they went on to score. Then, it was terrible to see Rich Seubert being taken off the field, but he got us going when he waved
the towel at the crowd, and we wish him well.
The Giants started clicking near the end of the half. Toomer caught a first down pass, and then Tiki ran for another. Kerry Collins ran
and almost made one, and Tiki got it on the next play, and right after the 2 minute warning Ike Hilliard caught a first down pass, and Shockey caught the next pass for 9 yards, but he fumbled
it away and the Eagles had it on their own 17 yard line.
Will Allen got Shockey off the hook when he intercepted McNabb's pass at the Eagles 29. It would have been great if the Giants had been
able to score a touchdown and tie the game, but they had to settle for a Brett Conway 39 yard field goal that was a bit close as far as distance went, and it was Eagles 7-3 at the half.
The second half started with Brian Mitchell reminding you that he hasn't been doing such a great job, because the Giants were at their
own 14 yard line after the kickoff. He used to play for the Eagles, and it looked like he still was the way he was doing out there. The Giants and Eagles didn't do much, but on the Giants
next possession, they took it from their 38, to the Eagles 1.
Collins hit Shockey in the endzone, and he kind of shocked everyone when he booted the ball into the crowd in celebration, and the Giants
went up 10-7. In the fourth quarter Dorsey Levens was like a shot in the arm to the Giants offense, but we wasted a scoring opportunity with a fumble. The defense had handled the Eagles all
day, and I thought we had this game won, especially when Mike Barrow caused Donovan McNabb to fumble and we got the ball back after the punt and there was only about 5 minutes left.
Then the offense suddenly stopped passing the ball on two possessions and we couldn't get a first down. On the return, the Eagles ran
it back big time and went up 17-10. The Giants gave it one more shot in the last minute or so, and all passing this time moved
from the Giants 36 to the Eagles 38, and didn't make the 4th and four. So for the third time in a row you go home from Giants Stadium wondering how the Giants managed to lose again."
Game Notes:
"In the first quarter down 7-0, the Giants lost Rich Seubert, and the way the offensive line had been playing, you would
think that the Giants didn't have a shot. Well, they had their shot and blew it.
I have to say it seems that Jim Fassel stumbles his way along as head coach and sometime offensive coordinator. He finally dusts Dorsey Levens off the bench at the end of the 3rd quarter and
sees just how effective the Pro Bowl running back could have been all season long.
In the 4th quarter, Fassel uses a mix of Levens running and Collins passing to get down to the Eagles 5 yard line, but Collins has the
ball knocked loose and the Eagles recover. The Giants defense holds.
The next chance the Giants get, Fassel sees there is only 5:03 left. He wants this game over bad, so he runs Levens 3 straight times hoping to get a first down while chewing up the clock,
but Andy Reid isn't stupid, and the Giants gain 9 yards and are three and out. Like they've been doing all game, the Giants defense holds the Eagles, and now Fassel drools because he has the
ball back with only 1:53 left.
A few plays and a first down kills the Eagles timeouts and can win the game for the Giants right here. The head coach / offensive coordinator
forgets how earlier the offense made 4 first downs and got to the Eagles 5 when he mixed some passing along with Levens hard running.
Andy Reid 'plays right into Fassel's hands', giving up his timeouts while 3 predictable running plays actually lose 2 yards for the Giants against the bunched up Eagle defense. Remember, a
first down would have kept the ball totally out of the Eagles hands, and even missing on a pass play that might have gotten it, would have given the Eagles the same 1:34, but with one timeout
left instead of none. That's what you were risking here against going home happy.
Before Bill Parcells can send a telegram to Andy Reid telling him how to steal a game from the Giants with 11 seconds left, the Eagles
go Parcells one better as Brian Westbrook takes Jeff Feagles ensuing punt and returns it 84 yards for a touchdown."

Notes:
Late in the first quarter, Giants guard Rich Seubert broke his right leg.
Tiki Barber's 113 total yards increased his career total to 9,757, leaving him 105 behind club record-holder Frank Gifford .
Michael Strahan had 2 sacks to put him at 101 1/2 and became the 21st player to record 100 sacks.
Michael Strahan's 10½ sacks of Donovan McNabb are his most against any quarterback, and his 17½ against the Eagles are his most against any opponent.
The Eagles' 134 total yards were the lowest by a Giants opponent since Washington finished with minus-6 yards in 1960.
Donovan McNabb was just 9-of-23 for 64 yards.
The Eagles' wide receivers still have not caught a touchdown pass this season.
