Giants lose to the Eagles 28-10.
Kerry Collins was 25-of-44 for 268 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception.
Tiki Barber had 19 carries for 111 yards.
Tiki Barber caught 3 passes for 20 yards and 1 touchdown.
Amani Toomer had 6 catches for 57 yards.
David Tyree had 5 catches for 106 yards.
Tim Carter had 4 catches for 48 yards.
Game Notes:
"This game started out just like a typical wild Giants-Eagles game. The Giants kicked off and suddenly the clock was stopped at 14:58 with the Giants offense at the Eagles 22 yard line.
It took only 2 seconds for Matt Bryant to kick the ball a little too short, for the Eagles to flub it, and for the Giants to get it back. Darnell Dinkins, just activated yesterday for this
game, showed his value right away when Sean Morey mishandled Bryant's weak kick, and he scooped it up.
The Giants should have taken control from there and set the tone for the game, but instead, at 14:52, just 8 seconds into the game, you had the Giants hit with their first 15 yard penalty,
which sent them back to to Eagles 37 yard line. They were lucky to come away with anything at all a few minutes later when Matt Bryant's 30 yard attempt bonked off one of the goalposts for
3 points.
Next the Eagles got another chance at another Matt Bryant short kickoff, but they did much better, taking it to their own 34 yard line. I was starting to worry at this point since Bryant wasn't
kicking too well, and Fassel had already cut Brett Conway from the team, so there was no backup.
McNabb then started off his big passing day right away with a 15 yard completion to the 49 yard line, and as usual, the Giants had trouble putting points on the board for the rest of the game.
I'll hope that Bill Belichick and his Patriots beat Bill Parcells and the Cowboys later today, and try to look at things this way. On the downside,
the Giants are 4-6. On the plus side that means that they can still finish the season at 10-6."
Game Notes:
"Jim Fassel put it all on the line in the first half when he had the Giants go for it on 4th down and 1 from the goaline. I won't argue with
his call to go for it instead of the field goal, even though they had Dorsey Levens run it, tried to pass it in and then use Levens to run again.
It was the right call.
The Giants got to this spot on the field when Collins hit David Tyree for a big 48 yard completion to the Eagles 14 yard line, and Tiki Barber ran for 13 yards and almost made it in. Tyree
had a good day as a receiver, and maybe Ron Dixon has something to worry about next year with the way he and Tim Carter are playing.
Anyway, after three tries, Fassel decided to put the ball back in Tiki's hands. Tiki got them down to the one, and he should spark the team for this play, but the Giants simply couldn't get
it done. They couldn't get the points when they had to, and that's been the story for the Giants the whole season. There is no spark."
