Game Notes:
"The offense has been struggling all year, and it didn't help that our reliable rookie right guard, Chris Snee, came up with some kind of strange swollen gland in his neck right before the game. The Giants were going to need any break they could get going up against Washington's defense, and they certainly didn't get any today.
Our defense had somehow been getting by all the injuries but they were really exposed in this game. Without a doubt, it is now well advertised that you can run at will on the Giants. Overall I was very disappointed, kind of hoping this could be some kind of turnaround game. Instead, it's looking like the season is done. Maybe our old friend Jim Fassel will lend a hand and convince his Ravens to take it easy on the Giants this week in Baltimore. What do you think the chances are of that?"

Game Notes:
"Joe Gibbs did his homework. He knew that the Giants were hurting up front, missing three of their best defensive linemen. He recognized that the Giants have been weak against the run for the past few losing games, so he decided to put it to them. He started the game off with Clinton Portis running on the first 5 plays, and the Giants couldn't stop him at all. Portis cut through the Giants defense like butter for 9, 6, 6, 12, and 3 yards.

Then to keep the game from getting boring, he let Patrick Ramsey try a pass, and it was completed to Chris Cooley for 12 yards. He let Ladell Betts (get his chance and he ran for 9 yards and then 3 yards for yet another in the string of Washington first down. Ramsey passed this time to to Laveranues Coles for 7 before letting Portis touch the ball again for a 13 yard run. Then it was Ramsey's turn again to Coles for 4 yards and then Brian Kozlowski for 8. Clinton Portis had started all this off so at the one yard line and he iced the cake for the Redskins with a 1 yard touchdown rush up the middle.

Even though the Giants went three and out for the second time, you had some encouragement when they stopped Washington on their second drive, picking up a sack and holding them to just 12 yards on 5 plays. Eli Manning picked up where he left off and continued to complete all his passes for a string of six straight. Tiki had 2 nice back to back runs mixed in there, but then he was stopped for no gain and Manning was incomplete on 2 passes and there you had the Giants best drive of the day - 10 plays for 45 yards.

Portis who had run for seven times in Washington's opening drive, finished the next one off when he caught a 4 yard shovel pass to make the score 14-0. The Giants managed 3 yards on their next 4 plays and their punt was blocked to give Washington another chance to score near the end of the half at the Giants 31 yard line, and they did.

At the end of the half, the Redskins were up 21-0. They had beat the Giants in rushing yards (119 - 19), passing yards (98 - 38), first downs (17-3) and time of possession (18:26 - 11:34). The only thing the Giants had the edge on was penalties. There they led Washington's four to three. By the end of the game, Ramsey had completed 19 of 22 passes for 174 yards and 3 touchdowns, with no interceptions, and Clinton Portis had racked up his fourth 100-yard game of the season.

It was their first in the regular season since Jason Sehorn returned an onside kick 38 yards for a touchdown against Coughlin's Jacksonville Jaguars on Dec. 23, 2000.

Eli Manning completed his first six passes.

Redskins scored more points this game than in their last 3 games combined.

Redskins Patrick Ramsey, in his third start since Mark Brunell was benched, completed 19 of 22 passes for 174 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Ramsey was 11-for-12 and had a quarterback rating of 142.4 in the first half.

Redskins Clinton Portis had a 1-yard touchdown run -- only the 3rd TD rushing for the Redskins all season -- and caught a shovel pass for another score.

Redskins are 4-0 when Portis runs for 100 yards, 0-8 when he doesn't..
