Game Notes:
"
Giants Stadium will always be my favorite, but Lambeau Field has it's own sense of history and the Giants tried to add their mark to it today. In the first half they held Green Bay to their own side of the field, while blowing two scoring opportunities. The last time there was a scoreless first half in Lambeau was 10/28/80 when the Vikings came to town.
The Giants were dominating Green Bay all over Lambeau Field except for the scoreboard which sat at 0-0. At the halftime break Jimmy Johnson said it was a boring game. In the locker room both teams must listen intently to FOX NFL Sunday with James Brown, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long and Jimmy because they immediately turned up the heat right away in the 2nd half.

Brett Favre marched his team right into Giants territory for the first time in the game. Then Michael Strahan and William Joseph knocked him to the ground where he suffered a head injury and came off the field. He was out for two plays and, in dramatic fashion, raced back on the field to toss a 4th down and 5 touchdown pass to Javon Walker.
Not satisfied with being down 7-0 after all that hard work in the first half, the Giants now suddenly took it in for a touchdown on just two plays. The drive consisted of Finn giving them good field position at the Giants 38 on the kickoff return, Toomer picking up 9 on a Kurt Warner pass, and Tiki breaking though the line on the 2nd and 1 for 52 yards and a touchdown. Christie kicked the extra point and it was tied up again at 7-7.

Favre wasn't cleared by the medical staff for the rest of the game (and maybe for that one play he came back in for) and that was it for their scoring. In the fourth quarter Kurt Warner hit Jeremy Shockey for a touchdown and the Giants came away with a real exciting win. Take that Jimmy Johnson."

Game Notes:
"It wasn't talked up, but the Giants executed two long sustained drives in this game. In the second quarter they got the ball at their own 20 with 8:24 left and took it down to the Green Bay 2 yard line. They almost closed out the quarter and the half when Kurt Warner's pass was intercepted at the goal line. Green Bay got it back with just 28 seconds left.
Later, the Giants ate up almost half of the 4th quarter from 10:52 to 3:47. They started on their own 22 and took the ball down to Green Bay's 12 yard line. Here the Giants should have come away with either a touchdown or field goal to put the game out of reach by the nature of being up two scores. Opting to go for the field goal instead of the first down on 4th and inches, Christie missed.
The end results of those two drives wasn't great, but the planning was and I want to see more of this kind of ball control.

Tiki Barber had another great game. Aside from his 52 yard touchdown run, with a 3rd and 8 at the Green Bay 39 with 2:11 left in the game Barber scampered for 17 yards and a first down. That fresh series of downs killed the clock, and Green Bay got the ball back with just 25 seconds left after Christie's 33 yard field goal attempt was no good, wide left.
Of course the Packers made the most of their meager 25 seconds, getting almost to mid-field to set up one last big downfield pass into the endzone to tie the score, but this isn't 2003 and Jim Fassel isn't here any more. Green Bay needed just one more second to down the ball and stop the clock, but ran out of time."

Only defensive end Michael Strahan remains from the team that played then.

Giants defense held Green Bay to just 81 yards rushing.

This was Tiki Barber's third 100-yard game this season.

Tiki Barber' 182-yards was the second-highest total of his career.

This was Jeremy Shockey's first touchdown of the season, and the fifth of his career.
Shockey had five receptions for a team-high 74 yards.

Gibril Wilson had a team-high 10 tackles and two assists.
It was Wilson's second start of the season and the second consecutive week he led the Giants in tackles.

Amani Toomer caught a pass in his 87th consecutive game.

Amani Toomer for the first time in his career, was inserted on defense in the closing seconds, as a roaming safety in order to catch any Hail Mary-type passes.

Giants outplayed the Packers in the first half with 147-98 in total yards and 10-5 in first downs.

Last time the Giants were part of a scoreless first half was Nov. 21, 1994 at Houston.

After a scoreless first half, the teams scored touchdowns 50 seconds apart early in the 3rd quarter.

This was Brett Favre's 29th consecutive game with a touchdown pass.
Brett Favre is No. 3 all time, behind Johnny Unitas (47) and Dan Marino (30).

This was the second week in a row that Brett Favre was unable to complete a game.

The Packers could not avoid their first 1-3 start since 1993 and their first three-game losing streak in coach Mike Sherman's five seasons.
