Giants gave up 1
INT, and had 3 fumbles.
Giants couldn't move the ball on the ground.
Lions make good with their 27th ranked passing game
against the Giants.
Lions win their second in a row under new head coach
Moeller.
Lions were up 28-0 early in the third quarter.
Lions win gives them a wildcard tiebreaker edge
with the Giants.
Giants drop to second place in the NFC East.

Another
loss Gamegirl.
"Do
they have to lose the home games so badly? It's
getting too cold to be looking up at the scoreboard
and seeing a score like 28-0. I guess a lot of the
fans feel the same way because you could have had
the stadium to yourself if you wanted. Maybe I should
start a petition for Team Giants to buy me a fur
coat - fake fur of course - for these games. I'm
still rooting for the Giants, but I'm starting to
feel that it would be better if they get into the
playoffs without homefield advantage. Haven't they
lost most of them at home? It sure seems like it.
It would be better for me anyway."
Three
of the Giants four losses have come at home.
"See,
there you go. Maybe Mikefan has it right, watching
on the big screen. I hear they even had close-ups
of Jason Sehorn running out of his pants. What more
could I want? Of course, then you have to put up
with the full screen version of that grumpy look
Fassel has on the sidelines when things aren't going
right. They should blow that up and hang it in the
locker room for the players. Maybe it would help."
We're sure they've seen it a few times.
"I
really don't know what to tell you about this game.
I was expecting to see a good close one with some
ups and down, but once again it was like the Giants
couldn't ever get started until the Lions let them.
Once they started playing 'prevent' to keep the
Giants from making a big play, the Giants were able
to move the ball at the expense of the clock. This
game really was over after that 28-0 score, and
I probably should have left with the rest of the
fans. They play in sunny Arizona next week. Maybe
I should start going to the away games instead."
Any
bright spots?
"Tiki
Barber is our one bright spot and has been all season.
He runs, and catches, and does special teams. He's
in every game, but he can't do it all himself. He's
our best player on offense. I guess we also have
to be happy that the Giants are 7-4, and should
hopefully get into the playoffs, one way or another.
I'll feel less cold and all tomorrow. As a Giants
fan, you have to keep the spirit. You know they
never make it easy on us."

A
new star is born.
"Right,
it's like I said a few weeks ago, the Giants make
stars out of opposing players, and this week it
was Lions quarterback Charlie Batch. Last week the
Detroit fans were calling him Charlie Botch, and
rooting for him to be lifted from the game in favor
of Stoney Case. He was completing less than 45 percent
of his passes before this game. This week the Giants
make Batch a standout quarterback, able to pass,
run if necessary, and command his team to an easy
victory. It's really amazing how good a quarterback
can look with the lack of a pass rush coming at
him."
The
Giants drop to second place in the NFC East.
"That
hurts, and they're in second place to the Eagles,
a team they beat twice. Also, now Detroit owns a
7-4 record, the same as the Giants, and would win
a head-to-head tiebreaker for a postseason spot.
Tampa Bay and New Orleans also lost, and that helps,
but there are only 5 games left. The Giants are
suddenly a team that can't run the ball, and can
only pass if the other teams decides to let it happen
because the game is winding down. Special teams
are getting worse. We're even getting blocked punts
now. Nobody wants to see the Giants finish at 7-9
like last year, but four turnovers and 10 penalties
for 103 yards isn't very inspiring."
Special
teams has been a killer all year.
"They're
getting worse every week. That blocked punt put
the Lions at the Giants 8 yard line. One punt was
returned 50 yards to the Giants 28 yard line. Another
return went to the Lions 39 yard line, but a holding
penalty forced another punt, and this time it was
to the Giants 29 yard line. We don't even want to
talk about Tiki Barber's 67 yard punt return. He
got it to the Lions 18 yard line, but a holding
call brought it back to the Giants 9 yard line.
They fumbled a kickoff return. There was more, and
you can't march through the playoffs with poor special
teams. That might not be a problem for the Giants
the way the Giants are going, there might not be
any playoffs for them."
