Sun Dec 15, 4:15 pm (FOX) - Dallas at Giants
| Game 14
Giants win big over
the Cowboys 37-7.
Kerry Collins completed 13-of-27 passes for 190 yards.
Kenny Holmes returned a fumble 50 yards for a touchdown.
Tiki Barber rushed 11 times for 81 yards and 1 touchdown.
Ron Dayne ran 19 times for 80 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Amani Toomer had 6 catches for 99 yards.
Jessie Palmer completed 3-of-4 passes for 30 yards subbing for Kerry Collins.
Matt Bryant kicked 3 field goals.
The Giants are still in it. They still have a shot.
"Sure, and they're playing like a playoff team too. They really took it to the Cowboys this game right from the start of the opening
drive. Collins marched them downfield, mostly with passes to Daryl Jones, Amani Toomer and Tiki Barber, and then Tiki ran it in for the touchdown. The crowd was really into it. I heard you
guys didn't do so well watching all this at home, because of the live transit news coverage that broke into the game."
We got a half screen, and no game sound while they gave us no real update on the strike.
"What you missed was that both the offense and defense were clicking, because on the Cowboys next drive, the defense held, and Mike Barrow sacked and hit the ball loose on Chad Hutchinson,
and Kenny Holmes ran it 50 yards for a touchdown. If that wasn't enough, Tiki Barber had a 60 yard run on the next drive for the Giants, and that really got everyone going. Ron Dayne ran the
ball next for 4 yards, and then did it again to score the touchdown. Somehow, at the end of the first quarter we were up 21-0 on the Cowboys. I don't ever remember that happening."
There haven't been many blow out games by the Giants in recent years.
"One thing is for sure, it makes getting out of the parking lot a lot easier."
That was some game for the Giants.
"It would be nice if they could always play as strong as this against the Cowboys. This was the first time the Giants swept both division teams, the Cowboys and Redskins since
1990, and now at 8-6, they also insured themselves of finishing with a better record than they had last year."
With the big lead, Fassel pulled Kerry Collins from the game in the fourth quarter.
"That was a rarity. With a wealth of points, the Giants could actually afford to finish a game without using their first string quarterback. This unfortunately also had the effect of
killing Kerry Collins' streak of throwing 1852 straight passes for the Giants.
Tiki Barber also got a break from the game, and that gave Ron Dayne a chance to rush for a season high 80 yards, and a career best 2 touchdowns."
So how do thing look for the playoffs now?
"Well, the Eagles locked up the division title, but with both Atlanta and New Orleans losing their games in overtime,
the Giants are closer to getting a wild card spot. They are a half-game behind the Falcons and one game behind the Saints with two games to play. If the Giants win their remaining two games
against Indianapolis and Philadelphia, and if either New Orleans or Atlanta loses one of their two remaining games, then the Giants will be in the playoffs."

Giants are now 17-5 in December under head coach Jim Fassel.
Amani Toomer surpassed 1,000 yards for a fourth straight season.
Jesse Palmer relieving Kerry Collins in the fourth quarter, snapped a streak of 1,852 pass attempts in which Collins was the Giants' only passer.
Collins' streak of 1,852 consecutive passes is believed to be the longest such streak in NFL history.
Matt Bryant now has 24 field goals for the season. With two more, he moves into second place in team history for most in a season (Ali Haji-Sheikh had
35 in 1983).
The defensive touchdown was the Giants' second of the season.
