Dec 31 Dave Gettleman has started his Giants' house cleaning. He fired Marc Ross, the team's vice president of player evaluation, part of a Saturday blood-letting that also included the cutting of Bobby Hart, the starting right tackle, and the benching of Ereck Flowers, the left tackle.

Dec 30 New Giants GM Dave Gettleman said Friday that he intends to go into 2018 with Eli Manning as the Giants' starting quarterback for next season.
Dave Gettleman is certainly not being paid by Giants co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch to win press conferences. If he were, consider the Giants' new general manager's first one a victory.
He promised to come in and "kick ass" and sign guys who "don't love to win, [but] hate to lose." Here are important takeaways from Gettleman's first press conference.

One of the reasons why Giants team ownership made the decision to hire Dave Gettleman in place now and not to wait to interview more general manager candidates is because they didn't want to waste time in commencing their head coaching search.

The "Giants" will play their 16th and final game of the season on Sunday. The team name is in quotes because, for the most part, the guys on the field for the contest against Washington were never expected to be there.

Giants co-owner John Mara claimed the team never had a plan to play rookie quarterback Davis Webb this season on Friday, even though they clearly did, and communicated as much.
Steve Spagnuolo has shown no inclination to play Webb in the game. Webb is a hard worker and a smart young quarterback but his limited reps in practice can't show a team enough.

Brandon Marshall: Turnaround starts with the players. Marshall pointed to guys such as Damon Harrison and Landon Collins as potential leaders for the team moving forward. But he also wants to be part of it, too.

Retracing the signs of Eli Apple's 'immature but good kid' duality. Should the Giants have suspected this might happen? Warning signs were scattered across the landscape during the buildup to the 2016 NFL Draft.

Dec 29 Special Report - They only interviewed four candidates when at least seven were prominently named, and they reached a decision before the end of the season, but nevertheless, the Giants have a new general manager. His name is Dave Gettleman and he has been here before.
In fact, he spent 15 years with the Giants in a previous stint, first in 1998 as assistant to pro personnel director Tim Rooney. Then in 1969 to replace Rooney, and he spent the next 13 years in that position, scouting the team's upcoming opponent and developing a strong knowledge of every player in the NFL.

The result might work, but this Giants process was bad. If Dave Gettleman uses all his experience and his knowledge and figures out how to get one or two more playoff appearances out of Eli Manning, then he'll have done what is expected.

Nothing went right for the Giants in the first-round of the 2016 NFL Draft when they ended up with Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple. And it all started with Laremy Tunsil's gas-mask bong. That was the catalyst for how the Giants ended up with Apple, whom they suspended on Wednesday.

Brandon Marshall says his best is yet to come. Brandon Marshall had an unproductive 2017 season that was abbreviated because of an injury that required surgery. He will be 34 years old when the 2018 season begins. But that hasn't diminished his desire to continue playing.

Geno Smith says he learned a lot from watching Eli Manning. Geno Smith's time with the Giants seems to have expired. He'll be inactive on Sunday because the Giants promoted rookie Davis Webb to the backup job. Smith said he understands that decision has nothing to do with him.

The Giants and the Washington Redskins are closing out disappointing campaigns for both inside MetLife Stadium on New Year's Eve. Here are five questions for the Giants as they prepare to bid farewell to a season they'd all wish to forget.

Dec 28 Giants have failed Eli Manning, no matter what comes next. Giants have failed Eli Manning, no matter what comes next.

Giants' Davis Webb will be backup QB in Week 17. The Giants' rookie quarterback will be the team's No. 2 signal caller for Sunday's season finale against the Redskins at MetLife Stadium.
After 16 weeks of preparation in the shadows of practices and pregame warmups, Webb may finally get his chance to play in a game that counts.
Geno Smith was demoted on the Giants' quarterback depth chart on Wednesday. Smith sent out a series of tweets suggesting he is less than thrilled with the way things turned out this season.

The Giants have finally had enough of their Bad Apple. Eli Apple, the second-year cornerback mired myriad on-the-field and off-the-field issues, was suspended for the final week of the season.
The last straw: Apple refused to join the scout team during practice and yelled at cornerbacks coach Tim Walton, according to a source familiar with the situation.
The Giants swiftly suspended cornerback Eli Apple after Apple offered a disgusting no-comment by announcing, "I gotta take a s--t," in front of reporters, and chuckling as he walked away.

Dec 27 The Giants may be the second-worst team in the NFL this season, but Eli Manning thinks it's a short trip back to the top. And he hopes he can make that journey with the team.

The "Giants" will play their 16th and final game of the season on Sunday. Most of the actual guys on the field for the upcoming contest against Washington, though, will not have been part of all 16 of those games. Many of them weren't expected to be there starting and playing larger roles, and a good number of them weren't even affiliated with the team when this season of woe began.

Landon Collins wants Eli Apple to ship out. The Giants' two-time Pro Bowl safety blasted his embattled teammate, calling Apple "a cancer" and making it clear he believes the Giants need to get rid of the 2016 first-round pick in the offseason.
Collins underwent surgery Christmas Day to repair a fractured right forearm but he is assured of returning to the Giants in 2018, as he is a marquee player the team wants to build around. Collins, though, is through with Apple.

Dec 26 One more game to go. That might be the best news the Giants have gotten all season, an acknowledgment that this forsaken season is coming to a close.

This has been the most trying season of Manning's football life, with no Odell Beckham Jr. to take one to the house for him, with no one to keep him comfortable in the pocket or even upright.

To some eyes, Sunday's game against Washington is a must-lose situation for the Giants. If they fall to the Redskins, they will secure the No. 2 pick in the upcoming draft.

Jason Pierre-Paul challenges 'true fans' to show up as Giants look to close out dismal season on high note. Coaches and players presumably find it as difficult to come to work during seasons this dreadful as fans find it to watch their team lose constantly.

Giants (2-12) vs Cardinals (6-8) Game Preview
Last week the Cardinals lost to the Redskins 20-15. Kirk Cousins threw two touchdowns in the game for Washington, and Arizona struggled on offense, with all their points coming off five field goals.
The Giants got off to a good start last Sunday against the Eagles, but they couldn't keep it going. Leading at one point in the second quarter 20-7, they saw things turn in the second half, and took a 34-29 loss.

Dec 24 Giants' desert trip can prove last week wasn't a mirage. Can a hot finish change the way Manning's future is viewed inside the building?

Go ahead and just try to take the ball out of running back Wayne Gallman's hands. You probably have a better chance of winning the lottery than you would wrestling the ball free.

What's wrong with Eli Apple? That's one of the prevailing questions from a chaotic Giants season rife with drama. Apple has clashed with the coaching staff, sniped at teammates and nearly bolted from the team's facility after he was criticized in a film session.
It has been a disaster of a season for Eli Apple, a first-round pick in 2016 whose career is careening towards bust territory. He's been benched, made inactive, embarrassed in a team film session and sparred with a teammate through the media.

Dec 23 Jason Pierre-Paul's right hand has been a source of concern and fascination since he severely injured it in a fireworks accident in 2015.The Giants defensive end practiced on a limited basis Friday while wearing a protective club, then told reporters he plans to play against the Cardinals in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday despite having a broken finger.
Jason Pierre-Paul said he doesn't want to shut himself down for the final two games of this lost Giants season in order to rest. "At this point in the season, probably everybody is hurting," he said. "We've just got to fight through it and motivate yourself to keep on going."

Rookie quarterback Davis Webb is third on the depth chart, and he will be on the outside looking in once again after Steve Spagnuolo confirmed Friday that Webb will be inactive Sunday.
Giants teammates who know Davis Webb best say he has 'it' factor. Three young receivers have worked closely with Webb, who has spent the entire season as the Giants' third-string quarterback.

Antonio Pierce expected to join Herm Edwards' staff at ASU.

Dec 22 Every Giants general manager candidate will likely be asked for his thoughts on quarterback Eli Manning when they interview for the job. Louis Riddick was part of an "NFL Live" panel that discussed how the Giants should handle Manning on Dec. 11, a day after he made his return to the starting lineup against the Cowboys in a 30-10 loss.
If the Giants loved what they saw and heard from Louis Riddick in his Thursday interview for the GM vacancy - which included lunch with Giants co-owner John Mara - that likely would mean replacing the fired Jerry Reese and Ben McAdoo with a tantalizing new pair at GM and head coach.

Is Davis Webb a franchise quarterback? Who knows. But he certainly has the poise part of the formula squared away. This nightmarish Giants season has put the rookie in an unenviable position.
Another day, another six snaps with the first team for rookie quarterback Davis Webb on Thursday. And another day closer to the season ending without him taking any in a game situation.

Giants hoping to hit 30-point mark before this season ends. It's not that difficult. "It's not that easy, either," Sterling Shepard said. Shepard knows this because during his two years in the league the Giants have never scored 30 points or more in any game. They've won 13 times in that span, they went to the playoffs. But when it comes to scoring 30-something, they are 30-nothings.

NFL News
The $14 billion league with the $40 million commissioner is using five-cent index cards to measure first downs in a game with playoff implications. The NFL is sure a hi-tech league that leaves nothing to chance.

Dec 21 Davis Webb took six snaps with the first-team offense of the New York Giants in practice Wednesday afternoon.
Interim coach Steve Spagnuolo said ex-coach Ben McAdoo had done a little bit of that but then "got away from it" and now the Giants are bringing it back.

Two Giants on QB future: Stick with Webb, pass on the draft. Landon Collins told The Post, "Don't draft him. Don't do it. Davis is gonna be really good in the league when it's his time, I promise you.
With the Giants undoubtedly getting ready to make a high first-round pick in next spring's draft, some find it imperative for Webb to get some snaps in these final pair of games.

Steve Spagnuolo's orders are clear. At least in his mind. As interim coach, he's being asked to help the Giants win games. Not next year. Not for the years down the road. Now. Which is why, he said, Davis Webb is taking practice reps with the first offensive unit this week but likely won't see the field on Sunday against the Cardinals.

Landon Collins knows what probably needs to happen. "I shouldn't play," he said of the rest of the season while dealing with a sore left ankle injury that he aggravated in Sunday's loss to the Eagles.

Dec 20 Landon Collins did not have the season he hoped for - personally or as a member of the Giants team - but it will end the same as last year's. With a Pro Bowl nod.

Giants bring back young pass-rusher for a two-game look. Okwara on Tuesday was activated from the reserve/injured; designated for return list.

Compiling Giants' long Christmas wish list: Next franchise QB, new offensive line, and more. With all that has gone wrong, the Giants are probably going to be asking for a lot this holiday season as they try to restore stability and a winning culture back within the organization.

There are maybe five to 10 current Giants players who can be confident they'll have a role on the 2018 team. Another five to 10 can be fairly certain. Beyond that, there isn't much security.

Dec 19 The Giants began their interview process for general manager, keeping things in house by speaking Monday with Marc Ross, their vice president of player evaluation.

After solid outing, Eli Manning will start for Giants Sunday against Cardinals. Steve Spagnuolo said he has no idea why the Giants offense that was stagnant for most of the season came roaring to life on Sunday against the Eagles. But he'd like to see more of it.

What happens if the Eli Manning everyone saw slinging it 57 times in a tight 34-29 loss to the Eagles, the best team in the NFC, is once again starting at quarterback for the Giants in 2018?

The Giants were victimized by the same rule at least once earlier this season, so Eli Manning hardly was surprised while watching the ending of the Pittsburgh-New England game on Sunday.

Giants (2-11) vs Eagles (11-2) Game Preview
Last week the Eagles clinched the NFC East first division title with a 43-35 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Unfortunately they lost starting quarterback Carson Wentz in the process to a knee injury. Nick Foles took over and guided the team to two field goals to take the lead. Philadelphia's defense added to the score on the game's last play with a 16-yard fumble return.
The Giants came off their two game road trip and played in front of their home town crowd. While they looked good in the first half going toe to toe with the Cowboys, the Giants weren't able to score any more points. The defense gave up a few big fourth quarter plays that led to a 30-10 win for the Cowboys.
Giants - Cowboys Wrap-Up

Dec 17 If Steve Spagnuolo doesn't play Davis Webb on Christmas Eve in Arizona or in the New Year's Eve season finale at home against Washington, then John Mara compounded his mistake of signing off on Eli Manning's unceremonial benching by hiring the wrong man to coach the Giants' meaningless final four games.

Want to see more of a young Giants player other than Davis Webb as this brutal season comes to a close? Rookie running back Wayne Gallman qualifies. Gallman is coming off his most productive game, with season-highs in rushing attempts (12) and yards (59) in the 30-10 loss to the Cowboys.

Dec 16 Despite being without quarterback Carson Wentz, the Eagles enter this Sunday's game agains the Giants at MetLife Stadium as a 7.5 point favorite. This stat, however, could point to a major upset coming.

The Giants have become a selfish, me-first group, and it all started last season when some players, led by Odell Beckham Jr., decided to take a Miami holiday before the playoff game against the Packers - and Ben McAdoo allowed it to happen. Since that trip they are 2-12, first getting blasted 38-13 in the wild-card game.

Steve Spagnuolo said earlier in the week that the team may need to "protect Landon (Collins) from himself." It appears that's what the Giants are doing, as Collins is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Eagles due to an ankle injury.

Former Giants
Phil Simms feels Carson Wentz's pain, but believes Eagles can make run like 1990 Giants.

Landon Collins had no doubts about his side of the public tiff with Giants teammate Eli Apple earlier this week, but the All-Pro safety is far less certain about playing this Sunday against Philadelphia. Collins would be replaced by Andrew Adams in the starting lineup if he's unable to go.
Landon Collins has started all 45 games since Big Blue selected him with the 33rd pick in 2015. After suffering a sprained ankle in the Giants' 30-10 collapse against the Cowboys on Sunday, the 23-year-old is doubtful for this week's matchup with the Eagles at MetLife Stadium.

Dec 15 Giants interim GM Kevin Abrams said he wants the GM job and will be given an interview before the end of the season. While Abrams said there is not a whole lot he can do in the interim role for the remaining three weeks, it is possible he could play a role in influencing whether or not the Giants play Davis Webb.
Kevin Abrams wants to see Davis Webb, 'but it's got to be done the right way'. There is seemingly no plan to get Webb on the field, even though Mara himself said he wanted to see the kid play. Spagnuolo has said Manning is his starter and he does not see that changing with three games to go, and Webb has yet to do anything in practice beyond run the scout team.

Eli Apple said his retweet of an account praising Cowboys running back Rod Smith's 81-yard touchdown against the Giants was nothing more than a "mistake," but the saga took another bizarre turn when he contradicted what Landon Collins said about him a day earlier.
One day after safety Landon Collins candidly expressed his support for embattled cornerback Eli Apple and said he has talked with Apple about his struggles on and off the field, Apple contradicted Collins and said they have not had any "sitdown," as Collins put it.
What are Giants gaining by having Eli Apple around? His issues this season have been well-documented and read like an ever-growing rap sheet. He's immature. He's resistant to coaching and criticism. He's disrespectful to teammates. He's unprofessional. And he wasn't playing very well when he did play.

Dec 14 John Mara wants Eli Manning to play for Giants in 2018 as team's GM search begins. John Mara can't forget the look on his father Wellington's face when GM George Young cut Phil Simms in June of 1994.

When announcing the firings of Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese, John Mara said "there were certain guys that on this roster that aren't playing as well as they should be playing." While Mara didn't name names, it doesn't take a mind-reader to figure out who is on his list of underachievers.

Collins hasn't performed at last season's Defensive Player of the Year level and the ankle injury has obviously been a factor. But he has 102 tackles, which is 38 more than any other member of the Giants and is the most of any defensive back in the NFL.

Landon Collins has Eli Apple's back, but he did not mince words with his assessment for why the embattled cornerback's second season has been so tumultuous. The Giants safety said Apple's struggles are "mental" and related to off-field issues in his personal life.

Giants rave about Davis Webb's 'Wow' factor, now let him play. It wouldn't be the end of the world if he doesn't get his feet wet behind that offensive line, and without a heavy-handed running game or a defense that has his back. Just give him the damn ball in Arizona anyway. Let's see what we got.

Dec 13 Giants' offense knows it's not pulling its weight and helping league-worst defense. While the offense may not be ranked as low as the defense, it's pretty clear that the majority of the losses this season have come from a lack of scoring and not a lack of stopping the scoring.

The Giants' 2017 season has been an unmitigated disaster from the beginning and it is almost finally over. Five Giants with the most on the line in last three games of disastrous season.

The debate is actually quite silly. For those who wonder if Davis Webb is ready to start an NFL game, we bring you back to late November 2004. Was rookie Eli Manning ready to start his first NFL game?

Continuing to try to find players to complete their roster and finish the final three games of the season with enough healthy bodies, the Giants signed two players off other teams' practice squads, adding offensive lineman Damien Mama from the Chiefs and receiver Hunter Sharp from the Broncos.

Dec 12 Special Report - Giants' head coach Steve Spagnuolo conducted his first post-game interview Monday, after the disheartening 30-10 loss to Dallas on Sunday, and two players seemed to monopolize the conversation - quarterback Davis Webb and cornerback Eli Apple.
The assembled scribes wanted to know why each player had been listed as inactive against the Cowboys, and as it turned out there were different explanations.

Everything Steve Spagnuolo said about Eli Manning, Davis Webb, Giants' baffling QB situation. To sum it all up: Spagnuolo said he will do whatever he thinks gives the Giants the best chance to win each week.
The time has not yet come for Davis Webb's Giants audition. Don't hold your breath waiting to see him play, much less replace Eli Manning.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie calls Giants teammate Eli Apple's retweet 'bad timing'. Interim head coach Steve Spagnuolo, who has worked with Apple in his first two seasons as defensive coordinator, said he spoke to him about the tweeting.

Giants (2-10) vs Cowboys (6-6) Game Preview
The Cowboys enjoyed a Thursday night 38-14 victory over the Washington Redskins. The Cowboys never trailed in the game, and the Redskins didn't help their cause by committing four turnovers.
The Giants tried something new last Sunday in Oakland, but ended up with the same results. Head coach Ben McAdoo had second string quarterback Geno Smith take the start. The Giants lost to the Raiders 24-17, and McAdoo lost his job the next day.
Giants - Raiders Wrap-Up

Dec 10 This is a chance for Giants fans to show their love for Eli Manning. He gets this kind of day largely because he was wronged when he lost his job and his 210-game consecutive streak, because it has dawned on Blue York finally that it won't soon see the likes of an Eli Manning again.
The MetLife Stadium crowd is almost certain to give Manning a standing ovation befitting a two-time Super Bowl MVP who may be nearing the end of his time with the only franchise he's ever known.
If only this was the championship showdown so many predicted back in September. From that perspective, the Giants failed miserably to live up to their end of the bargain. Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese have paid for the Giants' incompetence during this 2-10 campaign with their jobs this past week.

Dec 9 The Giants season has been far from ordinary for even the most seasoned veterans - just ask Eli Manning - so imagine going through this as a rookie?

Jason Pierre-Paul will play through finger injury. Jason Pierre-Paul plans to play Sunday, but the Giants defensive end might take the field looking like he did in 2015, when he wore heavy, club-like padding on the right hand.

Only two Giants have been ruled out for Sunday's contest. Lineman Justin Pugh will miss his third straight game with a back injury, while linebacker B.J. Goodson will again be sidelined with an ankle injury.

Former Giants
Rashad Jennings retires from NFL as member of Giants.
Rashad Jennings said he is in good enough shape to play in the NFL right now.

Dec 8 Mike Sullivan has been the Giants' offensive coordinator for almost two full years. On Sunday, for the first time during that tenure, he'll get to feel like one. Until now, it's been Ben McAdoo's team and Ben McAdoo's offense.
But before Mike Sullivan, under the leadership of interim head coach Steve Spagnuolo, gives it another try Sunday against the Cowboys, let's provide him with some advice.

Eli Manning will start again Sunday against the Cowboys, but is it simply to save face with the fan base or - as he hopes - will he be back next season?

Giants players Olivier Vernon and Landon Collins both stood up for Geno Smith on Thursday, expressing disappointment that the fans did not give him enough support.

Justin Pugh's return this season just got a whole lot cloudier. The Giants offensive lineman underwent an MRI on his back on Wednesday after being unable to finish the last period of practice.

It was an obvious question in the aftermath of the Giants' firing of Ben McAdoo on Monday: Does co-owner John Mara regret firing Tom Coughlin two years ago?

Dec 7 Steve Spagnuolo brings back a Tom Coughlin rule. With Steve Spagnuolo the interim head coach of the Giants, there will be no creative attire allowed during practice. Grey and blue is in. Red and white is out.

Is there any way Spagnuolo can find a path to permanence over the next four weeks? When Spagnuolo didn't get the job in 2016, but was retained as defensive coordinator - a move he thanked McAdoo for on Wednesday - he told reporters he was "not giving up on my dream of being a head coach again."

Steve Spagnuolo aims to 'restore Giants pride' as organization turns page. Spagnuolo said his "gut" told him that Manning should be the starter and after a discussion with offensive coaches they reached the decision to play him, although he would not commit to a plan for Davis Webb

Eli Manning rightfully gets job back, but Davis Webb's patience must be paid off. Where does Webb stand in all of this? It's as important of a question as the Giants must answer over the next four games than any other.

Former Giants
Ben McAdoo released the following statement through the team Wednesday, two days after being dismissed following a 2-10 start to the season.
Jerry Reese, who was fired Monday along with head coach Ben McAdoo, released this statement through the team on Tuesday.

Dec 6 Eli Manning will make his 211th start in the past 212 games when he gets the call at quarterback for the Giants Sunday against the Cowboys at MetLife Stadium.
Davis Webb should be starting the team's final four games of the season at quarterback. But if Webb isn't starting against the 'Boys he at least should be active for the first time all season, serve as the No. 2 quarterback, and play at some point in the game.
Five promising Geno signs Ben McAdoo left behind, but will another team notice? With no playoffs at stake, McAdoo wanted to evaluate his bench, including Smith. It was a decision owner John Mara signed off on.

No one can question Giants safety Landon Collins' loyalty or patience. Giants co-owner John Mara fired coach Ben McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese on Monday. But Collins believes McAdoo and Reese deserved one more shot. "I would say (evaluate) next year because the biggest thing is the injuries that really hurt us."

The Daily News obtained a copy of a letter signed by Mara and Tisch sent to the average Joe Giants ticket-holder on Monday, after the firings of Reese and Ben McAdoo, to empathize with the disgruntled Blue bloods and reassure them that better days are ahead.

Bring back Victor Cruz. Would Cruz be up for it? Maybe. Probably. He felt like he left a lot of unfinished business with the team when he was released this offseason and seemed genuinely hurt and confused when they did not reach out to him after they lost almost all of their wide receivers.

Former Giants
Victor Cruz twists McAdoo knife: Firing was 'long overdue'.

Dec 5 Eli Manning tells Steve Spagnuolo he wants to be the Giants' starting quarterback. Manning ultimately does not know what Spagnuolo will decide, but the interim head coach clearly has a soft spot for Manning.
Eli Manning gave little clarification on his NFL future Monday evening, hours after the Giants fired head coach Ben McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese, except to confirm he expects to play somewhere in 2018.

The many advantages of firing McAdoo and Reese now. A season that began with Super Bowl expectations ends with a franchise in turmoil and disarray. The general manager didn't get the head coach the right players and the head coach couldn't coach them.

John Mara not guaranteeing long-term deal for Odell Beckham Jr. John Mara said in late July that he expected to sign Odell Beckham Jr. to a lucrative, long-term contract at some point. On Monday he backtracked from that commitment a bit.

Former Giants general manager and Ring of Honor member Ernie Accorsi will consult the Giants as they begin their search for a new general manager immediately following Jerry Reese's dismissal on Monday, according to team president and CEO John Mara.

Giants (2-9) vs Raiders (5-6) Game Preview
Last Sunday the Raiders and Broncos fought it out in Oakland in more ways than one. A physical fight broke out and three players were ejected from the game. The Raiders went on to win 21-14.
In their game, the Giants struggled to put points up on the board. Even with their defense scoring a touchdown, they came up short, losing to the Redskins 20-10.

Dec 3 A Giant message for Big Blue faithful: Give Geno Smith a chance. Smith, 27, is more human than most people give him credit for. He is well aware of the chaos swirling around him.
A year ago Geno Smith was in the early stages of rehabbing a torn ACL and wondering if and where he might get another opportunity to play quarterback for an NFL team.
Giants fans aren't angry at Geno Smith, per se. They have nothing against him as a person, or as a quarterback. He's just the guy who will line up Sunday afternoon behind center who isn't Eli Manning. And Smith brings a lot of baggage to this.

Dec 2 Ben McAdoo keeps repeating he's on same page with Giants co-owner John Mara during contentious press conference.
Ben McAdoo was forced to repeat time and time again on Friday. He has no regrets with how he handled Eli Manning's benching, no qualms about how he communicated the controversial move.
McAdoo said the plan presented to Manning was for the quarterback to make his 211th straight start on Sunday and then get replaced by Smith at the start of the second half. Mara indicated that he was not on board with such a defined exit strategy.

Former Giants
Michael Strahan, 46, who won his first and only Super Bowl in 2007 with Manning under center, is still reeling over the Giants' stunning decision Tuesday to bench the beloved 36-year-old quarterback after 210 consecutive starts.

Dec 1 Eli Manning had good reason to be offended by Ben McAdoo's poorly-presented Monday proposal that Manning would play only in Sunday's first half in Oakland as the Giants phased Eli out.

Open Letter to John Mara: You may not like it, but it's time for Giants to make some changes. You helped create it and you are the only one who can fix it.

Geno Smith will take the field Sunday inside Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum - affectionately known as the Black Hole - and become the first quarterback in 13 years not named Eli Manning to start a regular season game for the New York Giants.

When Olivier Vernon signed his five-year contract with the Giants, the $85 million played a large role in his decision. At the time, though, he said there was one other factor that carried just as much weight. He wanted to play with Eli Manning.

There are those within the Giants organization who are thinking this: 'Why the heck didn't we give Davis Webb increased work in practice the past few weeks to get him ready to play now.'

John Mara said Wednesday not to "write the obituary" on Manning's career with the Giants just yet. Offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan, it seemed, was the most upset. He was the wide receivers coach when Manning came to the Giants in 2004, worked with him closely as quarterbacks coach in 2010-11 and again in 2015, and has been his offensive coordinator since 2016.

Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard compared the migraine headaches that sidelined him for the past two games to a vicious hangover - that lasted 10 days.

Giants' last anthem kneeler: If you don't like my protest, 'don't come.' Vernon has always maintained his actions are about highlighting racial injustice and not about disrespect for the flag or country.

Nov 30 The Giants' haphazard, unorganized arrival at the decision to bench Eli Manning highlights how dysfunctional and out of touch the organization has become, from co-owner John Mara on down.
Mara thought that Manning would start the game with the assumption that, if he was playing well and the Giants had a chance to win, that he'd stay out there -- something that sounds perfectly reasonable. McAdoo told Manning that he would play the first half and backup Geno Smith would play the second half no matter what.

John Mara realizes now he should have known better, that he should have known that the quarterback who had given the franchise two Super Bowl championships could not and would not submit to a plan that involved anything less than a total commitment on the team's behalf.
Mara revealed that over a week ago he had told Jerry Reese: "Don't you think it's time that we start to get a look at these other quarterbacks at some point during the games?" McAdoo's plan to play Manning for a half before sitting him for Geno Smith was nothing short of half-baked.
Mara also made it clear that the team is not trying to tank the rest of the season to improve its draft position. "That's not the case. We're still trying to win game. I read something somewhere wondering if we were going to tank the rest of the game. I would never allow that," he said.

Nov 29 Benching Eli Manning is the final insult from Giants' Ben McAdoo. McAdoo, who goes to great lengths to avoid criticizing most players (and himself), never seems to hold back when asked about Manning.

Incompetent Ben McAdoo did Eli Manning wrong. For the better part of 14 years, Eli Manning has been the best thing about the Giants. Championship quarterback. Unparalleled leader. Class act on and off the field. About as perfect a player as you could ever want to be the face of your franchise.

The New York Giants owed Eli Manning a heck of a lot more respect than what they showed him Tuesday. And for that, the entire organization should be ashamed.

Breaking down the decision to bench Eli Manning from all sides. Deep down, Ben McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese genuinely feel this is in the best interest of the organization, a source told The Post.

As he has done every week in his storied Giants career, Eli Manning today stood in front of his locker and patiently and candidly answered reporters' questions. But today was much different.

Eli Manning's Giants career wasn't supposed to end like this. Manning was choking back emotion as reporters circled him before the questions even hit. His eyes welled up with tears and emotion. He was in pain. He could not say if he ever would play a game for the Giants again. He probably won't.

The Giants' house of cards is falling down and Kate Mara is devastated by it. While Kate appears to disagree with the decision to sit Manning, it's unlikely such a call was made without being approved by her uncle John Mara and co-owner Steve Tisch.

Giants Bench Eli Manning: Why it was the right thing to do. With the team 2-9 and heading nowhere, the Giants braintrust thinks franchise first, player second in decision to sit down two-time Super Bowl champion.

Former Giants
Kurt Warner seemed more upset by the benching of Eli Manning than he was when he himself was benched in favor of Manning late in the 2004 season. "Shame on the Giants," said the Hall of Fame quarterback, the last man other than Manning to start a game for the team.

Nov 28 Giants mathematically eliminated from playoffs. Hard mathematics have finally caught up with perception. It marks the fifth time in six years the Giants have failed to reach the playoffs.

Evan Engram provides glimmer of hope for Giants' future amid lost season The rookie tight end wants to finish the season strong after a pair of shaky games.

Monday was on off-day on the schedule for the Giants but that did not stop the season from continuing to fall by the wayside. They put four players on season-ending injured reserve, including guard D.J. Fluker, who emerged as a key run-blocker along the offensive line.

Jan. 3, 2016 is a pretty significant date in recent Giants history. It was the last game Tom Coughlin coached, a 35-30 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, dropping the Giants to a 6-10 record for the second straight year. It was also the last time the Giants offense scored 30 points in a game.

NFL News
A breakdown of the NFL's division and wild-card races.

Nov 27 This season has already been historic for the Giants in many ways. They are 2-9. They lost to an 0-9 team for the first time since 1966. They are 0-8 in NFC play for the first time since 1976. Here's a closer look at some ugly history still on the table for the Giants.

In a lost season, the best the Giants can hope for is to find some hidden gems tucked inside their roster, a young player or two worth keeping around for whoever is coaching the team in 2018. Amid all the injuries and terrible play, B.J. Goodson's absence is often overlooked.

Watch the 2 plays by Eli Apple that reportedly angered his Giants teammates. Apple reportedly threatened to leave the team facility twice in response to the criticism from teammates, but he decided to stay after having a discussion with coach Ben McAdoo.

Nov 26 Eli Manning has had many memorable moments in his career with the Giants. One that will always stick with him took place in Baltimore about 13 years ago on Dec. 12, 2004, when he made his fourth career start.
What you don't want is for this season to end for Eli Manning, one of the great Giants of them all, the way Y.A. Tittle's career effectively ended a long time ago, with Tittle on his knees at old Pitt Stadium, helmet off, blood coming down his face from a cut on his forehead, At least Eli is still standing. For now.

Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who has played the past two months with a debilitating ankle injury that has limited his ability to cut and change direction, could be shut down to undergo ankle surgery. The ankle has hindered Jenkins for roughly the past eight weeks.
Seven of Jenkins' nine touchdowns have come off interceptions, tying him with Aqib Talib for the most in the NFL since 2012. He also has returned a fumble and a blocked field goal for touchdowns. Jenkins' latest effort may have been costly.

Eli Apple's second NFL season with the Giants continues to deteriorate. The cornerback taken with the 10th overall pick in the 2016 draft was so upset with pointed criticism directed at him by coaches and especially his teammates that not once, but twice, he nearly walked out of the team facility, seeking to get away from it all.

Nov 25 Eli Manning should ask the Giants for an offseason trade. Why would Manning, who looked shellshocked after throwing for just 113 yards against the Redskins, want to go through that with just a couple years left in his career? Why wouldn't he welcome a change of scenery?

Eli Manning's career deserves a better ending - with or without the Giants. the Giants can win with him if only he could be throwing to Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard, if only he could set up in the pocket behind Shaun O'Hara, Chris Snee, Rich Seubert, David Diehl and Kareem McKenzie. Beckham and Shepard will be back to join Evan Engram, but Manning's treasured, trusted bodyguards are long gone.

Giants' offensive numbers under Ben McAdoo are horrifying. The problem is not that this is a new problem. The problem is this is a recurring problem. The problem is their consistent ability to avoid the end zone and their irrepressible inability to put points on the scoreboard.

Tight end Evan Engram has been a bright spot during a dismal season. But the rookie has been in a slump recently that has been plagued by drops. Engram had just three catches for 18 yards in the Giants' 20-10 loss to the Redskins. He had a pair of drive-killing third-down drops.

Giants (2-8) vs Redskins (4-6) Game Preview
Last Sunday the Washington Redskins played in New Orleans against the Saints. They had a 15 point lead late in the fourth quarter, but ended up with a 34-31 overtime loss.
The Giants surprised everyone, maybe even themselves, with a 12-9 overtime upset win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Nov 23 Giants relishing Thanksgiving spotlight that they dimmed. Getting things right has been one misadventure after another for the Giants, on and off the field. They did not win any games in September, won one in October and thus far one in November. Beating the Chiefs 12-9 in overtime Sunday offered a rare release in this tightest of seasons and allowed for at least some good cheer at this time of year.

Nov 22 Special Report - One foot in front of the other, the saying goes. After pulling off an upset Sunday afternoon by beating Kansas City at MetLife Stadium, Giants found themselves with their second victory in 10 tries - and let's be honest, Kansas City didn't look like a playoff-bound team should - and have their eyes on at least saving face by getting a few more wins before the season closes out.

Receiver Sterling Shepard was not on the field for Tuesday's light practice, and it appears he has little chance to play Thursday night against the Redskins.
Nine days ago, the promising second-year receiver had set career highs with 11 catches for 142 yards in the Giants' Week 10 loss at San Francisco, a performance Shepard described to the Daily News as simply being "in the zone."

Ereck Flowers is starting to bloom. With fans and analysts preparing to slap the dreaded "bust" label on the No. 9 overall pick in the 2015 draft, the 23-year-old Flowers was working on every little detail of his game behind the scenes.

Nov 21 Injury hits Giants offensive line as soon as it comes together. Right guard D.J. Fluker came out of Sunday's 12-9 overtime victory over the Chiefs with a toe injury that will force him to miss Thursday night's game with the Redskins at FedEx Field.

If the Giants can beat the reeling Redskins after a short week, or at least hang tough, they may have a run in them, whatever it entails. And McAdoo may have a much greater chance to keep his job than most assumed.

Eli Manning is likely still the QB for next year's Giants, who may not draft a top quarterback after all. Complicating matters is that the jobs of both Reese and McAdoo are on the line for mismanaging this catastrophic 2017 season, and their futures with the Giants could impact Manning's.

Overlooked Giants WR Roger Lewis comes up with biggest play in win over Chiefs. Lewis seized the moment late in overtime when he made a tremendous sliding catch of a 34-yard pass from quarterback Eli Manning.

Damon "Snacks" Harrison has a reputation for feeding on running backs, but the Giants defensive tackle had himself a new meal on Sunday. Harrison picked off a shuffle pass from Alex Smith late in the first quarter for the first interception of his career.

Giants (1-8) vs Chiefs (6-3) Game Preview
Kansas City is coming off a bye week. The last game was played against the Dallas Cowboys. It wasn't a good road trip for them, as they took a 28-17 loss going into the bye.
The Giants had hoped to turn things around. Their first game back from their bye was at home, and it was a disappointing 51-17 loss to the Rams. Last week they took a 31-21 loss to the 49ers.

Nov 19 In addition to full-time captains Eli Manning, Jonathan Casillas and Zak DeOssie, Ben McAdoo selects three game-day captains each week. It was eyebrow-raising that cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was named a game-day captain for last Sunday's 49ers game.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has certainly had his clashes with Ben McAdoo this season, but the Giants head coach had nothing but praise for the veteran corner on Friday. "We talked about in the room we don't hold grudges," McAdoo said.

The Giants don't have to win Sunday's game against the Chiefs on the scoreboard. Sure, that would be nice. After last week's game against the 49ers in which a number of Giants players were either quitting or, as Ben McAdoo euphemistically called it, "lacking a desire to finish," the team will be judged Sunday by its guts and not its end result.

Here are the underdog players who should see more playing time on Sunday - or current starters who should be featured more prominently - in order to make the Giants more competitive, not to mention more fun to watch.'

Nov 18 If you're a Giants fan on the fence about attending Sunday's home game against the Chiefs, Ben McAdoo wants you to know his team plans to show up.
McAdoo said on Friday, "Come out, watch a great show, we plan on playing great football on Sunday and getting a win."

The Giants will deploy their seventh different starting offensive line in 10 games on Sunday against the Chiefs. With right tackle Justin Pugh out with a back injury, rookie Chad Wheeler is set to make his first career start.
Chad Wheeler, a former USC Trojan who could be a future stalwart of a unit repeatedly under the microscope, may see plenty of action against the Chiefs at MetLife.

It's easy to take Eli Manning for granted. Maybe now more than ever. And while he alone hasn't been capable of overcoming all the chaos around him, his performance and exemplary demeanor through one of the biggest abominations in franchise history should not go unnoticed.

When the national anthem is played before Sunday's Giants-Chiefs game, Olivier Vernon will continue to do what he has done since the third week of the season. He will take a knee. Vernon is the only Giants player who continues to protest during the national anthem, and he plans to do so for the foreseeable future.

Nov 17 An elevated knowledge of football is required to determine if players are putting forth effort, according to Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins.
Janoris Jenkins insisted he was trying. He just wasn't any good Sunday, one of those days he simply didn't have it.
Call it what you will, but there's no getting around the fact that Jenkins' awful play was yet another blight on a season gone wrong.
What's astounding is that all indications are Ben McAdoo and Steve Spagnuolo intend to start Jenkins on Sunday anyway, despite his being the picture of quit in Santa Clara.

Steve Spagnuolo is telling his team not to let a good play or bad play affect the next play. Unfortunately for the Giants defense, the next play is seemingly always another bad play.

Nov 16 Ben McAdoo took the unusual step Wednesday of showing game tape of Sunday's flop to his entire team, rather than have the Giants break off into offense and defense, as they usually do.
It was no more than a handful of plays, perhaps 10, with McAdoo doing the narrating and meting out the criticism before the offense and defense split to finish up the session.
Now he's gone to what is always the last resort for a coach. He is humiliating his players in front of the entire team after they humiliated the organization in front of the entire world.

Running backOrleans Darkwa had little leverage after finishing last season on injured reserve due to the fractured tibia that plagued him for two years. But Darkwa is earning some negotiating power with a breakout season before becoming an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

John Greco believes his veteran presence can help Giants offensive line The guard brings his 10-year resume to a squad reeling from injuries. Greco worked out for the Giants during Week 1 of the season after he was cut by the Browns.

Giants fans are frantically attempting to unload their tickets to the remaining four home games. As of Wednesday afternoon, there were 8,095 tickets available for the Giants game Sunday.
I certainly can understand any fan who doesn't want to sit through four likely blowout losses. But in the interest of finding a silver lining, here are eight things that are worth watching down the stretch.

Nov 15 Ereck Flowers continues an impressive streak. Flowers hasn't allowed a sack in 282 pass-blocking snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.

The Giants have heeded the calls from their fanbase and signed a veteran offensive lineman with significant NFL experience. They're just about three months late. The 1-8 Giants signed veteran guard John Greco.

The Giants signed free agent linebacker Akeem Ayers and offensive guard John Greco on Tuesday, as well as wideout/return specialist Kalif Raymond off the practice squad, and placed linebacker Keenan Robinson (quad) on injured reserve.

Walk around the Giants' locker room after a game and you can see the shock in the players' eyes. They seem to have no legitimate idea why this season is unfolding the way it is.

Steve Spagnuolo is a proven defensive coordinator, but he has been guilty of over-thinking with this group. He spoke of this season as "graduate school" for his guys, viewing what took place in 2016 as a commencement, of sorts, after expertly blending the old with the new.

Don't follow the leader: Ever since Giants became Odell Beckham Jr.'s team (and that infamous Boat Trip), they've been a disaster.

Nov 14 The Giants owners threw Ben McAdoo a life jacket on Monday, assuring him he will finish the season as head coach, but there was no time to express gratitude aboard this sinking ship.
The statement is far from a vote of confidence - Mara and Tisch make it very clear changes could come at the end of the regular season - but their comments indicate McAdoo is at least guaranteed to finish the final seven games of the season.

Lopsided losses the last two weeks to the Rams and 49ers have raised questions about the Giants players' competitiveness and determination. Coach Ben McAdoo said today it is not a widespread problem, but admitted there are times when he expects more.

Giants (1-7) vs 49ers (0-9) Game Preview
Last week San Francisco lost to Arizona, 20-10 and dropped to an 0-9 record. Things got heated in the final minutes and three players were ejected from the game.
The Giants took a real beating last Sunday at MetLife Stadium. The Rams forced three turnovers in the first half, all leading to points scored, and they went on to win 51-17.

Nov 12 Manning makes his 208th consecutive regular season start Sunday, tying him with his older brother, Peyton, for the second-most consecutive starts in NFL history.

How might you feel if the Giants lose to an 0-9 49ers team playing with a first-year quarterback (C.J. Beathard) no one's ever heard of at what will be an apathetic, half-empty Levi's Stadium?

Evan Engram, the Giants' rookie tight end and leading receiver, vehemently disagreed with the rats who anonymously ripped Ben McAdoo this week saying the coach has "lost the team".

Nov 11 After anonymous quotes surfaced Wednesday from two players who suggested Ben McAdoo had lost the team and that he was only out for himself, many of the Giants' most important leaders backed the coach and excoriated the players who hid behind a veil of secrecy and wouldn't put their names on the complaints.

With the Giants' season going nowhere, the team is looking toward the future. So guys such as Gallman are receiving auditions. After three inactive weeks, Gallman has played five straight games but last Sunday against the Rams, Gallman had a critical fumble, one of about 219 awful Giants plays in the 51-17 debacle.

How would Giants players react if QB Eli Manning gets benched? 'It would be disrespectful'. One player said a change wouldn't be received well because Manning gives the team the best chance to win and it would be "tough sledding" with a rookie quarterback.

There is no escape from the losing. That's what the Giants are learning this season as they tumble through a schedule that is only halfway completed and has featured one win in eight games. That record, it follows them everywhere. Home. To the store. Online.

Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett stood for the national anthem for the first time all season as the NFL honors the military as part of its Veterans Day celebrations. Olivier Vernon, the only Giant who kneels during the anthem to protest social injustice and police brutality, took notice.

Nov 10 Giants players were ticked off on Thursday after two anonymous players trashed head coach Ben McAdoo in an ESPN report, and those players are out to find the culprits.
Ben McAdoo tried to set the record straight by responding to the quotes from anonymous players who claim he has lost his locker room on a day he doesn't usually talk to the media.

Eli Manning wasn't even born the last time the Giants found themselves in a predicament such as this. You have to go back to 1980, a season many consider rock bottom for the franchise, to find a template for this rate of despair. That year, as in this one, the team won just once in its first eight games.

Giants-49ers was a big deal when Rhett Ellison's dad played for SF. The two teams met in the playoffs three straight years. The 49ers on in 1984, the Giants won in 1985 and 1986. "Isn't that crazy how it is now?" Ellison marveled. "Completely the opposite of how it was in the '80s."

Nov 9 Sunday's 51-17 blowout loss to the Rams made it look like the Giants had quit on Ben McAdoo. But Wednesday's latest locker room leak confirmed it.
Ben McAdoo has lost the Giants' locker room, according to a televised ESPN report that cites the comments of an anonymous player. "McAdoo has lost this team. He's going 80 percent on Saturdays (in practice) before we get on a plane, it's wild."
To say there is widespread public support of McAdoo from his players is inaccurate. Some express a desire to play for him, others go off on another tangent when the head coach is mentioned.

Cornerback Eli Apple admitted that he could have made a better play on the 52-yard touchdown pass scored by receiver Robert Woods, a play on which Apple also confessed to overthinking.
Apple said he was trying to keep contain on Woods, which was a curious decision 20 yards downfield and with no defenders behind him. That wasn't the only play in the embarrassing loss that raised questions about the Giants' effort level.

Nov 8 Eli Manning wants to play, no matter how bad things get for the Giants this season. The 36-year-old starting quarterback made that clear on Tuesday while speaking at his locker as he addressed questions about head coach Ben McAdoo leaving the door open for a potential quarterback change at some point this season.
The Giants aren't going anywhere because their offensive linemen haven't played well, the defense isn't nearly as good as it was last year and injuries have decimated the roster. Replacing Manning with Webb isn't going to change any of that. Putting the third-round draft pick from California in at this stage might actually do more harm than good should he be buried under a barrage of sacks, turnovers and ruined reps.

As soon as the doors to the Giants' locker room open every Tuesday afternoon, reporters and cameramen flock to quarterback Eli Manning's stall. After Manning finished his meeting with the media, the horde moved down one locker to rookie quarterback Davis Webb. Webb has suddenly been thrust into the spotlight and the third-round pick held court with reporters.
It was hard for anyone not to notice the shift - Eli Manning included. Attention turned swiftly from a quarterback who has won two Super Bowl MVPs to one who never has appeared in an NFL game. It was Davis Webb's turn for the spotlight.

Jack(rabbit) is back. Giants coach Ben McAdoo has reinstated cornerback Janoris Jenkins from his "indefinite" suspension after a week. The team has also re-signed linebacker Deontae Skinner, waived cornerback Tim Scott and defensive end Jordan Williams, and placed linebacker Nigel Harris on injured reserve.

Nov 7 Have the Giants quit? It is always and forever the accusation when teams go rotten and rarely is it an accurate depiction of what is going down. To quit is not to care, not to give effort, not to have the desire to win. This is not the Giants. No, they have not quit, yet.

Ben McAdoo seemed to walk back his postgame comments in which he didn't rule out getting some of the younger players reps in games this season. "Eli, he's our quarterback," McAdoo said, adding that he wasn't concerned about Manning's consecutive start streak. "But that doesn't mean at some point in time, we won't throw another guy in there to get a look at him."

The last time the Giants were in a prime franchise quarterback draft position was 2004, right after Tom Coughlin was hired to replace Jim Fassel, when they owned the fourth pick and traded with the Chargers, who made Manning the first overall pick against his wishes. "We think he's got a lot of years left in him," John Mara said in June. That was then, before what was supposed to be a Super Bowl-contending season, and this is now, The Fall of The House of Mara.

There are transformative events for every franchise, moments that come to define a particular season or era and often shape the course of that team's immediate and long-term future. What happened in Sunday's meltdown against the Rams likely will be one of those events, and as a result, the Giants may never be the same.

There is no professional athlete more relentlessly capable at keeping his emotions in check than Eli Manning, but as stoic as he appears in public, the losing is eating at him. The Giants are 1-7 this season and coming off a 51-17 rout by the Rams.

Giants (1-6) vs Rams (5-2) Game Preview
The Rams have won four of their last five games prior to their bye week. The most recent win was a 33-0 trashing of the Arizona Cardinals at Twickenham Stadium in London, England.
The Giants lost 24-7 to the Seattle Seahawks in their game right before their bye week. They had their first season win against the Denver Broncos just before that, but Seattle exposed their weaknesses

Nov 5 Sunday's matchup between the Giants and the Rams features a division-leading team against a team in contention for the No. 1 pick in next year's draft.
The Giants will be trying to hit the reset button on their season as they host the Los Angeles Rams at MetLife Stadium coming off a bye week this Sunday.

The Giants took another body blow in this dismal season Saturday, as center Weston Richburg was placed on injured reserve.

Former Giants
John McVay still has nightmares about what happened on Nov. 17, 1978.

Nov 4 Special Report - On Sunday, the Giants will host the Los Angeles Rams (5-2), a team that was once struggling but now appears to have a path and some momentum. Both teams are coming off a bye. The Giants, meanwhile, may still be floundering at 1-6, but we'll have a better picture once this next game, their eighth, is over.
The headline as we move forward is not about resurgence, or about rebuilding as we came to realize after the 2017 trading period expired without a single transaction. No, the headline seems to be about the Giants' ability to rally and to support their head coach, Ben McAdoo. In other words, many wonder if McAdoo has lost his locker room and if we are about to witness a full-on mutiny.

Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese both could go down if this Giants ship keeps sinking, but if it's going to be one or the other that is judged, Ben McAdoo's Friday chest-puffing about his practices certainly should be entered as evidence.

The Giants will be without five defensive players, including four starters, as the Los Angeles Rams make their way into MetLife Stadium on Sunday, averaging 30.3 points per game - the second-most in the league.

Nov 3 Sterling Shepard is a go for Sunday's game against the visiting Los Angeles Rams (5-2) when the Giants (1-6) need him more than ever. The Giants need to open it up and challenge defenses on offense. Shepard will help them do that.
At the very least, Shepard adds a little bit of threat to what was a toothless receiving group - his career numbers (87 catches, 946 yards, nine touchdowns) dwarf the numbers of all other Giants receivers combined (26 catches, 329 yards, three TDs) - and allows the Giants to deviate from their run-heavy game plans of the past two contests.

Joan H. Tisch, the matriarch of the family that owns 50 percent of the Giants franchise, passed away Thursday morning at the age of 90 following what the team called a brief illness.

Nov 2 Giants coach Ben McAdoo remains arrogant and unapologetic while losing control of team narrative. Ben McAdoo clearly is going to go down swinging.
What could McAdoo do over the final nine weeks of the season to prove that he should return for another? For starters: He has to show that the players still believe in him and listen to him.
Players say coach Ben McAdoo has not lost control of team. Nevertheless, suspensions of Pro Bowl players Janoris Jenkins and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie raise questions.

Teams don't enter the year with Super Bowl expectations, stumble to 1-6 with turnoil all around and then come back intact after whatever disappointing end they reach. Those changes may very well start at the top with head coach Ben McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese.

Left tackle Andrew Whitworth, the player general manager Jerry Reese felt was too old to pursue, has been a major factor in the Rams' 5-2 start, according to LA coach Sean McVay.

Nov 1 The New York Giants announced they have re-signed veteran defensive end Devin Taylor to their 53-man roster. To make room for Taylor, the Giants placed DE/OLB Cap Capi, who has been nursing a hamstring injury, on injured reserve.

Janoris Jenkins suspension is more proof Ben McAdoo has lost at least part of Giants locker room. Ben McAdoo has to be coaching for his and Jerry Reese's jobs the second half of this season after a second top defensive back in three weeks drew a suspension for disrespecting the coach.
Janoris Jenkins, Eli Apple and Paul Perkins were at the team's facility on Tuesday, according to a person familiar with the situation. Apple and Perkins had informed McAdoo of travel issues before missing Monday's practice, according to a person familiar with the situation. McAdoo said he did not speak directly to Jenkins until Tuesday morning.

The New York Football Giants have stopped being the New York Football Giants. Meet the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Giants. Meet Ben McAdoo, the ringmaster who better find a way to become a taskmaster if he wants to keep his job.

Oct 31 Jerry Reese's theory that the Giants "bought into the hype," specifically on a defense that wasn't as "hungry," didn't hold up Monday when players got a chance to respond.
Ben McAdoo, the coach whose job it is to get the team ready to play physically and mentally, did not dismiss Reese's theory. "Were we a hungry enough football team?" he said. "You can make a case that we weren't." But he also added that there were other issues at play.
Perhaps that's because such self-examination wouldn't reflect well on Reese and McAdoo. The failure to upgrade the offensive line or revamp the offensive schemes have been bigger problems than players getting big heads after a slice of success.

A trial in the civil lawsuit that accuses Giants quarterback Eli Manning of memorabilia fraud has been rescheduled to start on March 26, a New Jersey judge said on Monday morning.

Oct 30 Giants end bye week in search of any hopeful sign amid disaster. They lost six of their seven games, and only the Browns and 49ers were worse. Those two other teams, both winless, were supposed to be as rotten as they are. The Giants?
With an eye toward adding a fifth Lombardi trophy to the team's lobby, the Giants have instead morphed into a battered, bruised, and disorganized mess that has dug a hole so deep that it's going to take a miracle for them to salvage this disastrous season.
As the team gets back to work on Monday, the big picture focus should turn to the future. That means giving young players more opportunities in the final nine games so the team can find out if any of them will be a big part of the plan moving forward.

Former Giants
Where are they now? Updates on ex-Giants, including Johnathan Hankins, Victor Cruz.

Oct 29 The 1-6 Giants are in the throes of their bye week right now, and the results of their self-scouting as they return to work on Monday surely have been rather sobering. One of the top-of-the-page results they undoubtedly deduced was this: Their offense cannot live by the run alone.

Oct 28 Giants have been plagued by injuries during 1st half of season. Injuries don't excuse the dreadful 1-6 start, but they've sure made it tougher to dig out of this hole.

Great expectations have given way to disaster for the Giants, who sit at 1-6 as they get a much needed week off. Some units are clearly more to blame than others.

Giants' rookie Avery Moss is driven to prove his critics wrong. Helping fill in for the injured Olivier Vernon in the Giants' past two games, the rookie defensive end has played well above his fifth-round (167th overall) position. In last Sunday's 24-7 loss to the Seahawks, Moss recorded four tackles and forced a fumble that led to the Giants' only points.

Oct 27 There are not a whole lot of positives to take away from the Giants' season through the first seven weeks, but rookie tight end Evan Engram is one of them.

The first half of the Giants' season has been miserable. But that doesn't mean there haven't been some bright spots. Giants' midseason stock report: Evan Engram rising, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie falling.

In less than two months, Dalvin Tomlinson has lost as many games in his NFL life with the Giants as he did in four years playing for the Crimson Tide. He is 1-6 with the Giants after going 51-6 in his college career.

Oct 26 The 9 biggest reasons the Giants flopped this season. The truth is that it took a perfect storm for a team with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations two months ago to flame out before the midpoint of the season.

Eli Manning: It's on me to make this offense better. Despite holding the best completion percentage of his career (64.2), Manning is averaging the fewest yards per pass (6.15) since his 2004 rookie season, a mark which has decreased every season since 2014.
Manning said progress is being made, even if he has completed a total of just seven passes to wide receivers in the past two games. "Everybody knows their assignments," Manning said. "They're running the right routes. It's not on the receivers."

They learned the playbook. They learned about the speed of the NFL. Now the Giants' top two rookies - tight end Evan Engram and defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson - are learning their next lesson about pro football. How to lose. Or more to the point, how to handle losing.n

Oct 25 In Reese's 22-minute bye-week session with reporters, he wavered from taking personal ownership in this mess to subliminally passing the blame to the head coach and the players.
Giants general manager Jerry Reese started his midseason press conference on the right foot. But things went off the rails over the next 21 minutes, as Reese went on to make excuses for the team's underachievement and concocted unconvincing defenses about the roster's weaknesses.
Reese may have taken "ownership" for constructing the roster that has the Giants where they are, and he may have declared himself the reason they are 1-6. But Reese picks the players. McAdoo and his staff coach them, and by extension are responsible for motivating them.

Oct 24 Jerry Reese can't hide from job security questions with 1-6 Giants. The Giants owners simply do not like the idea of changing general managers. But it's possible that their aversion to that is about to change.

The Giants have nine games left in this season from hell. They need them to be Eli Manning's finest hours. Manning won't win another Super Bowl this year. His goal now is to preserve the Giant Way.
Giants head coach Ben McAdoo said that there will be some roles changing going forward the rest of the season, just don't expect Eli Manning's to be one of them.
They took Davis Webb in the third round of last spring's draft because they view him as an NFL starter down the road. If Webb is considered to be next in line - the Giants had an extremely high grade on him - there is no need to take a quarterback high in the draft.

Middle linebacker B.J. Goodson burst onto the scene with 18 tackles in his first career start in the Giants' 19-3 loss to the Cowboys in the season opener. But injuries have prevented Goodson from staying on the field long enough to build off that impressive debut.

Giants (1-5) vs Seahawks (3-2) Game Preview
Seattle is coming off their bye week. Just before that, they had a 16-10 victory over Los Angeles for their first road win this season. Their defense came up with five turnovers, and held the Rams scoreless over the second half of the game to claim the win.
The Giants came up with a big upset over Denver last week. Down a number of regular starting receivers, they went all out with their running game against the Broncos top run defense. They came up with their first win of the season, 23-10.

Oct 22 Giants say D.J. Fluker (knee) is questionable vs. Seahawks. Right guard D.J. Fluker is now considered questionable with a knee injury for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. The team placed him on the report after Saturday's practice. Early indications suggest Fluker's addition is a precautionary measure.

Oct 21 Barely nine minutes had passed Sunday night in Denver when Jason Pierre-Paul first took down Trevor Siemian, stripping the Broncos quarterback of the ball. Later, as the Broncos attempted to cut a third quarter deficit, the Giants defensive end wrapped up Siemian again at midfield, helping stall another drive, before tying his career-high with a third sack in the fourth quarter.
The three sacks gave the eighth-year defensive end a team-high 4.5. But perhaps his night was a positive sign. Now his pass-rushing skills will be put to a more challenging October test when the Giants face Seattle Sunday at MetLife Stadium because Russell Wilson presents a problem. The quarterback often fails to remain tucked inside his pocket.
Unfortunately for Giants defense, Seahawks QB Russell Wilson poses greater challenge than Trevor Siemian. The elusive and dangerous Seahawks quarterback comes into MetLife Stadium this Sunday as the Giants try to build off their first win of the season.

Cornerback Eli Apple and safety Darian Thompson both came into the league together last year as first and third-round picks for the Giants respectively. Although each man's rookie season took a different path their back playing together in the defensive secondary where, after having a slow start to their respective seasons, they've begun pulling their weight.

Oct 20 Mike Sullivan said that Ben McAdoo handed him the play-calling duties with no strings attached. While McAdoo has not announced who will call the plays on Sunday against the Seahawks - in fact, he announced that he never would announce it - the assumption is that after the win and the success in Denver that Sullivan will continue in the role.
With the 1-5 Giants playing the 3-2 Seahawks on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, Sullivan is expected to continue the play-calling for an offense that remains short-handed with the team's top two receivers, Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall, out for the season and an offensive line (five starting combinations in six games) that has struggled to find consistency.

Mike Sullivan's run-heavy attack thrived for Giants by catching Broncos off guard. The Giants offensive coordinator could not have been handed the responsibility of calling plays at a worse time, with three top receivers injured and facing a Broncos defense that has allowed the fewest yards per game. He hit the Broncos where they least expected it.
Giants offensive line coach Mike Solari and running backs coach Craig Johnson were speaking to the team's backs on the sideline early in Sunday's 23-10 win over the Broncos. Right guard D.J. Fluker joined the group and instructed running back Orleans Darkwa to "hit it. He'll reach out and I'm going to pancake him."

Oct 19 Orleans Darkwa reflects on breakout game: 'I've come a long way'. The fan favorite finally enjoyed his breakout game in last Sunday's 23-10 Giants upset over the Broncos, rushing for 117 yards on 21 carries, both career-highs.

Giants cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie wants everyone to know that he's back, he's over what he calls a miscommunication between him and head coach Ben McAdoo that led to him being suspended, and that he accepts full responsibility for what happened.
Rodgers-Cromartie did provide a bit of a missing narrative on what took place in the Chargers game. In the second half he was covering a deep pass and his foot was stepped on. The medical staff examined him and the coaching staff decided to keep him out for the rest of the game. "I get mad, you know? I'm a competitor," he said of slamming his helmet down in frustration and leaving the sideline.
Rodgers-Cromartie said he watched the entire Giants 23-10 win in Denver. Unable to travel with the team, he instead returned to his alma mater at Tennessee State and even addressed the college players, which he said was difficult for him to do given his suspension.

Giants co-owner John Mara said he is "very disappointed" by his team's start to this season. "We're 1-5,'' Mara said to reporters Wednesday after the NFL owners meeting in Manhattan. "How could I possibly feel good about that?''
Mara clarified remarks made by Tisch one day earlier and made it clear neither of them had anything to do with McAdoo's decision to relinquish the play-calling last week in Denver. He said Reese "probably had that discussion with him, but even Jerry would not and did not tell him that he had to give up the play calling duties. That has to be the head coach's decision."

Oct 18 Can Giants get back in NFC playoff race? Plotting an improbable, not impossible, road back. It's hard to see the Giants winning eight or nine of their remaining 10 games to climb out of the deep hole they've dug. But ... you never know.

Giants co-owner Steve Tisch said the pressure was on Ben McAdoo with adversity swirling last week and he raved about how he handled it with the Giants on the verge of a major implosion.
Tisch did say, though, he and fellow co-owner John Mara have discussed the team's play calling situation in the past, both together and with McAdoo, and suggested the topic was raised again before Sunday's surprising 23-10 win over the Broncos.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie will be back on the field with the Giants for practice on Wednesday after what amounted to a one-week suspension for violating team rules, the team announced.

NFL News
NFL owners, players, commissioner Roger Goodell continue discussion on social activism.

Oct 17 What was Giants' Ben McAdoo's message to players before upset of Broncos? It appeared that Giants coach Ben McAdoo was on the verge of losing the locker room last week. Instead, his undermanned squad rallied for an improbable 23-10 win at Denver on Sunday night.
A Band-Aid. That's what the Giants applied to their bloody 2017 season Sunday night in Denver in the form of their resounding and complete 23-10 victory over the Broncos. It, too, is what coach Ben McAdoo applied to his own tenuous job status.

The feel was different, and Ben McAdoo liked it. No, McAdoo on Monday did not come out and declare he is permanently handing the play-calling duties over to Mike Sullivan, his offensive coordinator. He did not have to. McAdoo said what he said, and it was obvious what he meant.

Giants CBs step up in Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie's absence. The Giants replaced Rodgers-Cromartie with veteran Ross Cockrell and newcomer Donte Deayon. The Giants turned in their best defensive effort of the season in the 23-10 upset win
Giants coach Ben McAdoo remains tight-lipped with regards to suspended corner Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. McAdoo said in his Monday conference call that he plans to visit with him "a little bit later in the week" but provided no details on when and where that will take place.

Eli Manning goes from throwing all over to run, run, run. Manning, who entered Week 6 with the most passing attempts in the league, threw only 19 times in Sunday's 23-10 win against the Broncos.
Eli Manning is hearing the trade rumors. This is Manning's 14th season with the Giants and never before has he heard trade rumors floated around the media - this is largely make-believe stuff - the way he has recently.

Giants (0-5) vs Broncos (3-1) Game Preview
Denver is coming off their bye week. They had wins against the Chargers and Cowboys, followed by a loss to the Bills. That was their only game away from the stadium to date. Their last game right before the bye was a 16-10 win playing at home against the Raiders.
The Giants lost more than just a game last week playing against the Chargers. Four wide receivers went down as the Giants gave up a fourth quarter lead once again, to lose their fifth straight game of the season 27-22.

Oct 14 The drama continues for the 0-5 Giants. Coach Ben McAdoo said Friday morning that he will "revisit" the suspension of cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie at the beginning of next week.
Giants coach Ben McAdoo finally discusses Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie suspension with theteam. Jason Pierre-Paul did not reveal any details of McAdoo's speech, which was believed to be brief, but added that he expects Rodgers-Cromartie to be back with the team next week.

Oct 13 The Giants, once the gold standard of the NFL, are now a dysfunctional mess. The Giants won 11 games last season and winning covers up a lot of problems. The 0-5 start causes fractures way beyond the epidemic of broken ankles.

Wins and losses likely won't get McAdoo fired (as long as there is a win). Schematics won't be his ultimate undoing either. Shaky play calling and situational gaffes can be addressed. It's the rest of the job's responsibilities that threaten him. The DRC mess is a microcosm of McAdoo's failings there.
In a way, this week is the first true test of whether he can keep this together. It has gone beyond whether or not he should call the plays to whether or he should remain the head coach next season. What happens Sunday in Denver should offer a huge clue.

Janoris Jenkins said he left the field before the end of last Sunday's loss to the Chargers because he thought the game was over. The Giants trailed 27-22 and the Chargers were in kneel-down mode when Ben McAdoo called a timeout with 38 seconds remaining. Following the timeout, Philip Rivers kneeled down a second time and the time on the clock expired.

Victor Cruz wants to come back to the Giants and cannot fathom why it did not happen.

Oct 12 All the receivers are injured. All the cornerbacks are revolting. Your 2017 New York Football Giants, everyone! What a hot mess this team has become, not that the man who is supposed to be keeping it together sees it that way. McAdoo was asked about the "perception" that he has lost this team. "Not concerned about perception," he said. "Concerned about reality."
But what this naïve Giants coach doesn't understand is that perception is most certainly reality in the NFL when a 31-year-old veteran player walks out of the building on a 40-year-old coach and calls his treatment "BS." Even the Giants players who had McAdoo's back on Wednesday weren't foolish enough to try and convince anyone this should be interpreted more positively than the disaster it appears to be.
The Giants coach didn't comport himself very well with his refusal to offer any reasons about why one of his starting cornerbacks was being suspended. During his terse exchange with reporters when asked about DRC's absence, seven times McAdoo answered with, "That's all I have for you right now." Which, of course, was a whole lot of nothing.

Oct 11 Sterling Shepard is the last starting receiver standing - barely. The hobbled second-year wideout was the first of four receivers to be forced out of commission in the Giants' 27-22 loss to the Chargers. Shepard, however, was able to walk - er, limp - away with only a sprained ankle, while Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall and Dwayne Harris all suffered season-ending injuries.
Shepard wore a walking boot on his left foot in the locker room on Tuesday. He said his ankle felt better than it did on Monday, but he's not sure if he'll be ready for Sunday's game at Denver. "I have no idea," Shepard said. "I'm just kind of taking it day to day."

Tavarres King was at his home in New Jersey watching the Giants game on Sunday. So he was expecting the call. "Just a little bit after the game," he said when asked when his phone rang with that familiar 201 area code. "Kind of after they figured out what was going on with everybody."
King spent last year on the Giants' roster, finally getting an opportunity late in the season. The 27-year-old responded with a 44-yard catch in the regular season finale and three catches for 73 yards and a touchdown in the Giants' playoff loss to the Packers.

Like Giants fans, Odell Beckham Jr. can't wait for next season to start. Dr. Joshua Dines, a sports orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery, hasn't worked with Beckham, but believes that based on the injury that the wide receiver could easily return to full health in time for next season.

Oct 10 Odell Beckham Jr. will undergo what's fair to call season-ending surgery at some point this week to repair his fractured ankle, the Giants announced Monday.
If he had remained healthy and productive, the Giants would have opened up negotiations after this season and were braced to make Beckham the highest-paid receiver in the league.

On the same day they learned star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is done for the season, Brandon Marshall said he is having surgery on Tuesday that will end his season as well.

Sterling Shepard sprained an ankle on the same series as Marshall and, although he is considered day-to-day, his availability for this weekend in Denver is in doubt. Dwayne Harris' season is over with a fractured fifth metatarsal, a foot injury he sustained returning the second-half kickoff. Harris will have surgery Tuesday.

Ben McAdoo left himself some wiggle room, but also left no doubt: Victor Cruz will not be walking through that door again, no matter how many wide receivers the Giants have on the shelf.

Ben McAdoo taking responsibility as Giants' losing ways continue. Despite being decimated by injuries, McAdoo continued to shoulder much of the blame for the disappointing season on Monday.
The head coach sidestepped commenting directly on cornerback Eli Apple's pointed remark about the team culture during a conference call. He also refused to go into detail about his feelings about cornerback Janoris Jenkins walking off the field before Sunday's game ended.

Eli Manning is a Giant for life, but Big Blue needs to bench quarterback after next five games. Eli Manning is a Giant For Life no matter what. But that doesn't mean he has to be the quarterback for the rest of this dreary season.

Four Giants players have dialogue with Newark police, students. Defensive linemen Damon Harrison and Olivier Vernon, linebacker/tight end Mark Herzlich and offensive lineman Adam Bisnowaty were dressed in their blue jerseys.

Giants (0-4) vs Chargers (0-4) Game Preview
Last Sunday the Eagles took an early lead over the LA Chargers playing in StubHub Center, their temporary home. The Chargers chipped away and came close, cutting the lead to just two points twice in the fourth quarter, and ended up with a 26-24 loss.
The Giants were playing at Tampa Bay and held the lead twice during the game. Then, for the second week in a row they watched a kicker on the final play of the game hand them another loss, this time 25-23.

Oct 8 No matter how bad this Giants season gets, it is reasonable to believe that Ben McAdoo would stick around for a third season as head coach. This seemingly near-consensus view is based on several factors.

Tucked into this disappointing Giants season have been disappointing performances from several players, which is how a team gets to 0-4. Count Eli Apple in that group, as this season so far has been a regression from the end of his rookie year.

Oct 7 Offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan believes that despite the team's winless start, the team's offense has begun to turn the corner.
The talent deficiencies of the Giants' offensive line have been well-documented. But what is most disturbing to former Giants Pro Bowl center Shaun O'Hara is the unit's fundamental breakdowns.
The Giants' most-maligned unit could face more trouble than usual Sunday against the Chargers, potentially having to take the field without two starters.

This has the makings of a Perfect Storm: an 0-4 Giants team reuniting Sunday at 1 against the Chargers with a fan base that bought into the Super Bowl hype. The 2017 Giants have not scored in the first quarter.

Even if you are what your record says you are, as a legendary Giants coach once said, Ben McAdoo doesn't see much difference between this year's colossally disappointing 0-4 team and the playoff squad that won 11 games last season.

Eli Manning had just accepted the Ernie Accorsi Humanitarian Award from the man who brought him to the Giants in a blockbuster 2004 draft-day deal. "I want to thank Ernie," Manning said at the April awards dinner. "If it wasn't for him, I'd be playing in a soccer stadium in Los Angeles."

Oct 6 Steve Spagnuolo lets his players self-critique their game film. The bottom line though is that the players have to take what they learned and apply it to their game Sunday against the Chargers.

The New York Giants, last year's 10th overall defense, a brick wall to the end zone and a force against the run, have lost their identity, according to defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, who added that opponents "don't fear" the Giants defense the way they might have last year.

Eli Apple doesn't lack for confidence despite sophomore struggles as Giants corner. Eli Apple may be battling a sophomore slump, but it has certainly not deterred his confidence.

Sometimes special teams coordinator Tom Quinn focuses on the mechanical aspects of his kickers. Sometimes it's the psychological. So in a week when both his punter and his kicker had costly flubs in the fourth quarter of the loss to the Bucs, which hat does he wear?

A day after Odell Beckham Jr. said opponents know what's coming from the Giants' offense, coach Ben McAdoo wasn't alarmed. "Your interpretation of what Odell said and mine are entirely different."
Ben McAdoo's confidence in Giants' offense is refreshing. And yet, by stressing improved execution, what McAdoo really ended up saying was that his players, Beckham included, need to play better, and that McAdoo's offensive scheme isn't the reason the Giants are 0-4.
There is nothing heavy-handed about his offense, once again operating without a true fullback, once again unable to establish any forceful push up-front, once again not employing - or, at least, not featuring - a running back willing or able to knock anyone on his butt.

Oct 5 Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. had a revealing conversation with Buccaneers cornerback Vernon Hargreaves after Sunday's 25-23 loss. "He was just like, 'You know, we know a lot of what you're doing,' " Beckham said.
The Bucs' coverage on Beckham -- and a few of his own drops, which he indicated were caused by the defense being on to his routes -- limited him to just seven catches (for 90 yards) on 15 targets. While defenders study film all week to learn opponents' tendencies, the Giants are an open book. Opponents have been able to stymie the Giants with a basic Cover 2 defense over the past two seasons.
The Giants were 11-5 last season mostly because of the defense carrying an offense that averaged just 19.4 points per game. The 2017 Giants are averaging 15 ppg this season, tied for 30th with the Ravens.

The Giants spent the summer daydreaming about what their pass rush could look like with a completely healthy Jason Pierre-Paul and Olivier Vernon as defensive bookends, something they experienced for just a small window last season. Now, as they go into the fifth game of the year, they may be waking up to the reality of playing without both of them.

Former Giants
Lawrence Taylor's advice to the Giants after their 0-4 start.

Oct 4 Eli Manning won't trade his Super Bowl rings for Philip Rivers' mobile film room, but he wouldn't mind having his own.
The Giants drafted Philip Rivers fourth overall in 2004 and traded him to the Chargers for first overall pick Eli Manning, and now all these years later Rivers and Manning will meet in "The 0-4 Bowl" on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
The 0-4 Giants, one of the league's four winless teams, are the most vulnerable to a fractured locker room because, unlike the other three, they were supposed to be a Super Bowl contender this year.

Brandon Marshall was at a loss for words after two more dropped passes Sunday in the Giants' fall to 0-4. "Just not playing well right now," Marshall said after the 25-23 defeat in Tampa Bay. "I haven't played a solid game since I've been here."
It took the 33-year-old veteran until Week 3 to register more than one catch in a game and in the Giants' 25-23 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday, Marshall dropped two more passes, including a third-and-4 in the first quarter which halted a drive and resulted in a punt.

Former Giants
Will Tye's brief tenure with the Jets is over. The team announced it waived Tye from the 53-man roster.

Oct 3 Wide receiver Brandon Marshall has had opportunities to make big plays in his first four games with the Giants. But they've slipped through his fingers. Marshall had two more crucial drops in Sunday's 25-23 loss to the Buccaneers, continuing a rough stretch for the 12th-year receiver.
Brandon Marshall was at a loss for words after two more dropped passes Sunday in the Giants' fall to 0-4. "Just not playing well right now," Marshall said after the 25-23 defeat in Tampa Bay. "I haven't played a solid game since I've been here."

You can be a hotshot rookie head coach one year and a clueless head coach under fire your second year. Heaven has turned to hell for Ben McAdoo. The Giants can't win without Odell Beckham Jr., and they can't win with Odell Beckham Jr., and no one expected the Bad News Giants.
Ben McAdoo says Giants 'can't go numb,' need to start and finish strong. The question with the Giants is no longer can this team make a playoff run, but rather how bad are things going to get?"

Giants need to fire ineffective GM Jerry Reese, change team culture and start fresh. That is what Giants owners John Mara and Steve Tisch must do now as their franchise spirals toward an incredible fifth season out of the playoffs in the past six years.

The Giants are where they deserve to be, owners of an 0-4 record, matching the Browns, 49ers and Chargers as the NFL's winless teams. The 49ers are in rebuilding mode and 0-4 is no surprise. The Browns are the Browns and 0-4 is expected. There is a reason why Eli Manning 14 years ago did not want to play for the Chargers.
