Nov 10 The Giants' dished out for a $200 million upgrade on defense this offseason, but their biggest breakout star actually was already on their roster. Landon Collins has easily been the most pleasant surprise for the Giants in 2016.
Landon Collins won his second consecutive NFC Defensive Player of the Week award, and as important as his play has been to the Giants, his teaching skills also have been vital.

This comeback for Victor Cruz has not been spectacular but it has been exactly what the Giants need. He might miss Monday night's game against the Bengals, he might not. It does appear, though, that as the Giants turn into the second half of their season, the brain trust hopes to get more out of Cruz by using him less.

Darian Thompson's rookie season is over. The Giants safety will undergo surgery to repair a foot injury that has sidelined him since Week 2 and was placed on injured reserve. Thompson, a third-round pick from Boise State, won the starting safety job in training camp but a shoulder injury kept him out of the lineup in the opener (though he played extensively) and he started just one game in Week 2 against the Saints. He played 88 defensive snaps in the two games.

The Giants' locker room was a strange place to be on Wednesday afternoon, with President-elect Donald Trump an obvious topic of sometimes-awkward conversation sprinkled in between questions about football and an upcoming Monday night clash with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Nov 9 Victor Cruz said his ankle injury is "not bad" and that there is a chance he can play on Monday night against the Bengals.
Cruz "tweaked" his ankle when Philadelphia cornerback Leodis McKelvin landed on it while making the tackle from behind.

The pain was surging through Bobby Hart's right knee and suddenly, it was as if the MetLife Stadium crowd in excess of 80,000 had fallen silent. Hart got up from a pile following a running play and, as he began to hop around on one leg in the general direction of the Giants' sideline, all he heard was the familiar voice of his quarterback. And Eli Manning's plea - "Bobby, you gotta stay!" - resonated.

Through eight games, the defense and its coordinator have not forced the rest of the league to stand up and take notice. Halfway through the season, the Giants are doing nothing exceptionally well on defense. There are a few things they do exceedingly poor. Yet they are 5-3 and the winning record is primarily the handiwork of a unit that has been at its best when needed most.

Nov 8 Giants left guard Justin Pugh suffered a knee sprain in Sunday's victory over the Eagles and "will miss some time," according to head coach Ben McAdoo.
The Giants are right in the thick of the playoff race at midseason, but they will have to try to stay there without their best offensive lineman for a spell.

Despite a 4-3 start to the season, coach Ben McAdoo recognized the need to shake things up during the bye week. McAdoo took action by inserting some young players into the lineup in the place of struggling veterans in Sunday's 28-23 win over the Eagles.
If we told you the answers at mid-season were Roger Lewis Jr., Paul Perkins, Bobby Hart, Will Tye and Jerell Adams, the question most likely would have gone something like this: Are the Giants so bad that they are already in look-ahead-to-next-year mode? Quite the opposite.

It took the entire roster for the Giants to come away with a 28-23 victory over the Eagles in Week 9. With the win, Big Blue is now 5-3 and stands in second place in the NFC East at the midway point of the schedule.
Trevin Wade found it fitting that he, a backup in his fifth NFL season, would be defending the final pass in a 28-23 Giants win over the Eagles at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Coach Ben McAdoo put trust in a lot of previously seldom-used players coming out of the bye week.

Roger Lewis Jr. came back from the bye last week and heard a message from his coaches. "It's time to go." He didn't know exactly what that meant at the time. Now he does. Now everyone does.
Rookies Roger Lewis, Jr., Paul Perkins and Jerell Adams saw their roles expand, and another first-year player, free agent Andrew Adams, continued to produce as the starting free safety. It's midseason, but the Giants have kicked off their youth movement.

A healthy Keenan Robinson makes a Giant difference on special teams against Eagles. Robinson was credited with 10 defensive tackles, the most he's had in a single game for the Giants. But it was his special teams takedown on speedy Darren Sproles that likely saved the win.

Former Giants
Antrel Rolle, the outspoken soul of the Giants defense that won Super Bowl XLVI, announced that he no longer will be pursuing an opportunity to play in the NFL.
Antrel Rolle played 11 seasons in the NFL, starting out with the Cardinals and ending with the Bears. In between, Rolle found his greatest fame and fortune with the Giants.

Tom Coughlin, Ernie Accorsi reminisce about building Giants into a winner. They recall the moment Accorsi closed their final season together, making a bold promise of what was to come.

On The Game: Game 8
Gamegirl ---"It was perfect weather for a football game and I couldn't remember when the Giants were up 14-0 right at the start. The defense gifted Eli Manning the ball twice, from the Eagles 30 and 31 yard lines as a result of back to back interceptions. Nothing comes easy in division games though, and the lead was cut to four points early in the second quarter.."
Mikefan. ---"On defense they were pretty solid except for cornerback Eli Apple who struggled today. Seeing Apple mess up reminded me of Landon Collins on some plays when he was a rookie last year, and look how things have turned out for him..

Giants (4-3) vs Eagles (4-3) Game Preview
The Eagles were not able to close the gap with the Cowboys last Sunday night. It was a matchup of two quarterback rookie starters trying to lead their team to victory. Carson Wentz was selected by the Eagles as the number 2 overall pick in the draft, and Dak Prescott was a fourth-round selection. Prescott's team came out ahead, as the Cowboys beat the Eagles 29-23.
The Giants are coming off a bye week after winning their game in London 17-10 over the Rams. It was a good time for a break, as the Giants were able to size up their next opponent and reflect on all the things that need fixing. They didn't tip their hand too much this week about what changes could be expected, so we'll have to wait and see.
Giants - Rams Wrap-Up

Nov 6 When it comes to Odell Beckham Jr., the Eagles know they are facing a receiver with a temper that's as explosive as his legs. He's got a reputation around the league as a guy with thin skin and after a string of incidents over the last two years in which Beckham's blown his stack, the Eagles likely know they can get in his head. But they won't admit that.

Victor Cruz knows it's still in him. The Giants receiver's comeback from knee and calf injuries, which had kept him out of the game since October 2014 before his return this season, has been impressive enough. And Cruz will never forget that game-winning touchdown reception against the Cowboys in his first game back. But he knows there is more.

The Giants and Eagles will meet on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. The game will give one team a leg up in the NFC playoff race as the season reaches the midpoint. Here are five things the Giants must do to beat the Eagles.

Nov 5 The Giants can't run the ball, Shane Vereen already is sidelined long-term, and now Bobby Rainey is questionable for Sunday's game with a calf injury. It might just be time for Ben McAdoo and the Big Blue offense to punch through the emergency glass and pull out rookie Paul Perkins, or as his offensive coordinator refers to him, The Big Sombrero.
Odell Beckham's favorite rookie running back can save Giants' run game. Giants fans are hungering to see The Kid, and Odell Beckham Jr. is whetting their appetites. "He's going to be special," Beckham told The Post. "I know that for sure. I've seen it."

The sack numbers aren't good heading into Sunday's game against Philadelphia at MetLife Stadium. The Giants are last in the NFC and second to last in the NFL with nine. Three came in their last game, a 17-10 decision over Los Angeles in London before the bye.
When the lack of sacks are brought up the Giants have been largely dismissive. The key, they say, is in pressuring the quarterback, getting the passer off his mark. Sacks are great, but a quarterback can be impacted without getting a sack, they have argued.

Nov 4 Special Report - The last time the Giants swept their two-game series with the Philadelphia Eagles was in the 2007 season - when they went on to win Super Bowl 42. Even four years later, when they once again beat the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick, they did no better than to split with the Eagles during the regular season.
Currently, they have lost four in a row, five of six and Sunday they'll try to uphold their favored status (by a skimpy 2½ points, or roughly one cheesesteak) in a game with significant importance to both teams, currently tied at 4-3 for second in the NFC East behind Jerry Jones and his Cowboys.

The Eagles executed a massive about-face Thursday, releasing Josh Huff a day after coach Doug Pederson said the troubled wide receiver would play Sunday against the Giants.
A franchise known for stability and star power under Andy Reid and even Chip Kelly is now mostly anonymous thanks to an ugly front-office power battle and three consecutive offseason roster overhauls.
They've been the definition of mediocre, a team with a 50-46 record over the past six years with zero playoff appearances and, as a result, a third different coaching staff this season. And the Giants can't beat them.

Eli Apple acknowledges it can be awkward balancing his life as a Giants rookie cornerback with his mother's outspoken, sometimes controversial remarks as an ESPN commentator and SI.com columnist. It was never more awkward than yesterday.
Eli Apple said Thursday that his mom's accusation that the Giants were "leaning" on her son to control her criticism in late October is "definitely false" and probably "just an assumption."

Nov 3 The Meadowlands have been on fire at multiple junctures of this still-young, but nonetheless trying Giants season so far. But first-year head coach Ben McAdoo says he took his job expecting it to be that way.
It's difficult to predict how a coordinator will transition from coaching one side of the ball to the coaching the entire team, but so far, it appears he's growing nicely into the job and he could stick around for a while, especially if he can figure out why his offense, his strength, has been a dud.

The bye week worked wonders for Odell Beckham Jr. The Giants wide receiver said Wednesday that he's feeling "somewhere around 85, 90%" healthy after undergoing considerable treatment on his injured hip during the team's time off.
Beckham has been a second-half monster so far in the NFL. While his numbers have been strong for the Giants in their first through eighth games each year (an average of 6.0 catches and 85.8 receiving yards in those 18 games), he traditionally explodes into another realm in games nine through 16 (7.9 catches, 122.1 yards per game in 15 of those).

Nov 2 Ben McAdoo has been careful not to single out the tight ends when asked to identify the problems with an offense that ranks 26th in the NFL in scoring.
Through seven games, it appears that the answer to the Giants' tight end woes is not on the roster. The injured reserve list is another story. The Giants placed tight end Will Johnson on injured reserve on Sept. 3, the day the roster had to be cut to 53 players.

The Giants have some glittery names on offense, from Odell Beckham Jr. to Eli Manning to Victor Cruz. Yet their remade defense is probably the better Big Blue unit so far, thanks in part to strong play by an emerging secondary star and the man they call "Jackrabbit."
For most of the last week and a half, all anybody has wanted to talk to Landon Collins about is the pick. Collins, 22, doesn't want to be known for only one play, especially not one so early in his career. That happened to a teammate when Odell Beckham Jr. made his iconic one-handed catch against the Cowboys as a rookie. It's all anyone wants to know about. It defines someone.

Should the Giants have made a bold move and traded for Joe Thomas? The NFL trading deadline came and went Tuesday and the fact the Giants did not pull the lever on a deal is no surprise. Before acquiring linebacker Jon Beason on Oct. 4, 2013, the Giants had gone 27 years without making an in-season trade - though it was a biggie, getting Ottis Anderson from the Cardinals on Oct. 8, 1986.

Former Giants
Damontre Moore gets another NFL chance. The controversial former Giants defensive end is signing with Seahawks. The Seahawks, who need pass rushing help, are the fourth team to employ Moore in the past 11 months.

Nov 1 Giants' Jerry Reese shows no accountability in his cowardly refusal to address Josh Brown. The sad part? Handling this one wasn't all that complicated. Mara issued a statement last week that the Giants were "misguided" in their decision to stick with the embattled kicker.
Reese had been given the opportunity to comment on Brown by several reporters, including the Daily News, on Aug. 20 during the Giants' preseason game in Buffalo. He had no time for it then and has none for it now.
When it was pointed out to Reese that he was the person who re-signed Brown, making these questions relevant, Reese bristled: "I'm not taking any questions with respect to Josh Brown, guys. Stop asking. I'm not taking any questions (on that topic) at all."
Unlike Giants' Jerry Reese, Eli Manning addresses the Josh Brown situation. His attempts to give thoughtful responses to a complicated situation out of his control stood in stark contrast to general manager Jerry Reese's refusal to take questions about Brown on Monday.

Giants general manager Jerry Reese failed to secure any upgrades to the offensive line in the offseason. Seven games into the season, Reese doesn't have any regrets. "I think they're good enough," Reese said of the offensive linemen in his first press conference of the season.

All 53 members of the active roster were at least limited if not full participants in a short welcome-back workout on Monday as the team returned from the bye. For a lot of Giants coming off injuries, Wednesday will be a better tell of where they stand for the Eagles game.

The Eagles will visit MetLife Stadium on Sunday to face the Giants in a pivotal NFC East matchup. Both teams will enter with 4-3 records, but the Giants have a slight advantage in the standings due to tiebreakers. Oddsmakers are giving the Giants a similar edge, as they have opened as two-point favorites, according to vegasinsider.com.

When Giants defensive end Owa Odighizuwa found out he was being fined for his fake photography, he did a double take. "When I first looked at it, I was thinking, 'Oh, is that $1,200, but no, it's not. It's $12,000. I was like, 'Sheesh, man, that's crazy.'"

Oct 31 An eye roll. That is how Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie reacted after he was reminded what was going on around the Giants exactly one year ago.
A little under a year ago, the Giants came out of their bye week with the whole world in front of them. They were 5-5, and held all the cards. If they beat the Redskins, the NFC East was all but clinched.

Oct 30 With a 17-10 victory over the Rams last weekend in London, the Giants entered their bye week on a two-game winning streak, sitting one game above .500. But there is still room for improvement on both sides of the ball.

Oct 29 The Giants can sit back and watch their NFC East competition Sunday without much of a struggle. The Redskins are playing in the early morning window against the Bengals in London, while the divisional front-running Cowboys and Eagles face off on NBC's "Sunday Night Football".

Oct 28 Giants defensive end Owa Odighizuwa reportedly has been fined $12,154 for his touchdown celebration with safety Landon Collins after Collins' 44-yard interception return for a score in the Giants' Week 7 win over the Rams in London.
After Victor Cruz scored his touchdown in Week 1, Odell Beckham Jr. was fined for snapping a make-believe picture of it. Beckham also was fined $12,154. The difference, of course, is that Beckham makes much more money than Odighizuwa, who earns roughly $30,000 per week.

Oct 27 Giants safety Landon Collins put forth a dominant individual performance on Sunday in London, and his effort was acknowledged by the league office Wednesday back on home soil.
The second-year pro had two interceptions that directly led to 14 points, returning one pick for a touchdown and setting up the game-winning score with the other.

Victor Cruz missed two seasons with to back-to-back devastating injuries. His comeback this summer was detoured by a groin injury that raised questions about whether he would ever return to the field. But here he is now. Healthy. Productive. Vindicated?

The New York Giants doled out more than $200 million during the offseason in an effort to fix a league-worst defense. What did they get for their money?

Oct 26 Giants wait until players leave for bye week to announce Josh Brown release. The Giants made sure no players could comment on the team's decision to cut Josh Brown.
Big Blue released Brown on Tuesday, shortly after he issued a statement in which he claimed he's never "struck" his ex-wife Molly.
Brown statement read in part, "It is important to share that I never struck my wife, and never would. Abuse takes many forms, and is not a gray area."
So how could Brown parse the word "struck" as a defense for his behavior, when police documents show he shoved her head against a wall, pushed her into a mirror and lay on her with his full body weight, his forearm across the back of her neck and Molly's face pushed into the carpet.

It's important to note that Brown apologized to the Giants and John Mara in the statement, but not to his ex-wife Molly, who suffered through years of emotional and physical abuse.
Last Thursday, Mara said the Giants knew Brown had abused his ex-wife, but did not know the extent of that abuse. The remark was met with rampant revulsion.
Mara said last week in an interview he also was aware of an incident at the Pro Bow during which the league had to intervene on behalf of Molly Brown during a disagreement between her and Brown.
So now the dust has settled, at least in NFL terms. Brown is out of a job, and the Giants are out of excuses. The question now is simple. What next?

Oct 25 Giant's Ben McAdoo considering 'everything' including play-calling duties during bye week. Given the struggles to find traction on offense, McAdoo acknowledged that he will be doing some self-scouting over the bye.
Everything, McAdoo said, will be open for discussion, from the play-calling duties, which he currently handles, to personnel groupings. The Giants have played most of the year in three-receiver sets, and having weak-blocking tight ends and no true fullback limits their options.
It will be revealing to see just how open and honest the first-year head coach is with himself when the subject is himself. The offense is darn near broken. The Giants would have endured a rough six-hour flight home saddled with a loss if not for the best defensive showing of the season.

After Sunday's games, the Giants were 20th in yards per game and 25th in scoring per game. Eli Manning was ranked seventh in passing yardage, but the Giants were last in rushing yards. The Giants have run for fewer than 80 yards in each of their last four games.
McAdoo said that Rashad Jennings, who averaged 1.9 yards per carry against the Rams, a tick above the 1.8 yards averaged by the team Sunday, will remain the team's starting running back. However, rookie Paul Perkins, who averaged 3.0 yards per carry against the Rams, could see an increase in his workload.

Despite overwhelming evidence detailing his alleged history of domestic violence, Josh Brown's future with the Giants continues to hang in the balance.
Coach Ben McAdoo said Monday that the front office spent most of the first day back from the weekend trip to London in discussions about how to handle the kicker.

On The Game: Game 7
Gamegirl ---"Rams quarterback Case Keenum started off with a deep pass that was good for 48 yards, and soon his team added a field goal to make it 10-0. The Giants went three-and-out and were in a bit of a sticky wicket at this point (I just had to say that)..."
Mikefan. ---"This was one of those times where you were almost glad to see the Giants defense on the field too much. They were actually the most effective group of playmakers in this game. Giants (3-3) vs Rams (3-3) Game Preview
The Rams played a back and forth game in Detroit last Sunday with the Lions. Each team scored just one touchdown in every quarter, so it was 28-28 at the two minute warning. Detroit added a field goal, and followed that up with an interception to end the Rams final drive, leaving them with a 31-28 loss.
The Giants ended their three game losing streak with a 27-23 win over Baltimore. They kept the fans in suspense, as they didn't take the lead until the fourth quarter. The Ravens took it back at about the two minute mark, and Eli Manning, on a fourth-and-one play, threw a 66 yard touchdown pass to Odell Beckham Jr.
Giants - Ravens Wrap-Up

Oct 23 No one really knows what the 2016 Giants are made of. They snapped a three-game losing streak with last week's victory over the Ravens and arrived in England with the Josh Brown controversy hanging over their heads.
The last time Eli Manning touched a football in a game, he fired a quick pass to Odell Beckham Jr. for a 66-yard game-winning touchdown against the Ravens. Now the trick is to keep it going a week later.

Why did John Mara risk the damage that's been done to the Giants brand and his own reputation by going all-in on Josh Brown? It's the unsolved mystery of the Brown domestic violence disaster/crisis.

Oct 22 Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been fined $24,309 by the NFL for taking off his helmet during a touchdown celebration last Sunday against Baltimore.
The fine was the third for Beckham already this season. The other fines were $12,154 for group demonstration and $36,000 for unnecessary roughness to total $72,463 for the season.

The NFL placed Giants kicker Josh Brown on the commissioner's exempt list Friday in light of documents released this week in which he admitted to physical and emotional abuse of his wife.

Oct 21 Giants not bringing Josh Brown on road trip. Josh Brown practiced with the Giants on Thursday, but it's possible the kicker never wears the uniform again.
A day after police documents revealed Josh Brown admitting to abusing his wife, Giants co-owner John Mara made a stunning admission that the Big Blue kicker had told the team of his past abuse.
The fact they re-signed him while knowing about his 2015 arrest as well as a confrontation in a Hawaii hotel before the 2016 Pro Bowl makes them complicit. The Giants are one of the most respected franchises in sports, but this is an ugly stain on that reputation.
Annie Apple, the mother of first-round pick and cornerback Eli, ripped John Mara on Twitter after the team's co-owner revealed Thursday that Brown had previously admitted to the Giants that he had abused his wife, Molly.
Giants adding kicker Robbie Gould as Josh Brown fill-in for London game. Gould will fly to England on his own and meet the Giants on the ground. A veteran with his experience is eligible for a $985,000 minimum salary, which would be prorated in this case.

Oct 20 Special Report - Years and years ago, clearly more than your correspondent would like to remember, coaches heading into meaningful games frequently picked up a player who had recently been with that team in order to find out all they could about the personnel and strategies.
In the case of the Giants, who play the Los Angeles Rams Sunday in London, there are two such players on the roster - cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who has been on fire the past several weeks, and newly-signed Coty Sensabaugh, who spent the summer, preseason and the start of the season with the Rams after being signed as an Unrestricted Free Agent from Tennessee.

Jeff Fisher vows Rams won't play dirty vs. Odell Beckham, Giants. History, and reputation, indicate the Rams will not play by the Marquess of Queensbury rules against Odell Beckham Jr. and the Giants in London.
The Rams will certainly bait Beckham with cheap hits this weekend and try to throw him off his game as they did two years ago in St. Louis.Beckham is so volatile that no matter how hard he might try, if he's getting hit after the whistle or hit out of bounds by the Rams, he's liable to explode. So, are the Rams a dirty team?
Come this weekend when the Rams meet the Giants in London, Fisher said the Rams are going to behave. Things came to a head that year (2014)when Rams linebacker Alec Ogletree shoved Beckham on the Giants sideline, perhaps in response to Beckham's earlier and overdone touchdown celebration . A brawl soon erupted resulting in now former Giants Damontre Moore and Preston Parker, both of whom came to Beckham's aide, being ejected.

Oct 19 The Giants have followed a similar cycle this season: Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. creates waves with his antics on Sunday, quarterback Eli Manning voices his displeasure during his radio appearance on Monday and then everything is smoothed out by Tuesday.
So now Eli Manning doesn't mind Odell Beckham Jr.'s antics one bit, and he has no problem with his mercurial wide receiver's new fiancee. Now, Eli Manning isn't "sick" of anything about Beckham, even if just a day earlier on the radio he'd finally sounded at his wits' end.
On Tuesday, Manning took a seven-step drop away from the idea that he was piling on his star receiver. "I'm not tired of it," he said of Beckham's sideshow. "I thought y'all might get tired of it. That was my comment. They took the 'you' and thought it was me, but I was talking about you." See? It's a pronoun problem, not a locker room issue.

When Eli Manning found Roger Lewis for a second-quarter TD, it was the 300th touchdown pass of Manning's career. It was also the first touchdown for Lewis, a rookie receiver and undrafted free agent. Lewis kept the ball and plans to ask Manning to sign it. And Manning is fine with that. Manning has the football from his first career TD pass, a scoring strike to former Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey. "I have that ball," he said. "I have my first. Jeremy Shockey."

The last time the Giants played in London was in 2007. If that year doesn't ring a bell, you're not a true Giants fan. That's the year the Giants won their first Super Bowl under Tom Coughlin.
When the Giants went to London in 2007 they landed after an overnight flight and went straight to the practice field. "It was not good," Manning said of that bleary-eyed workout.
When Coty Sensabaugh was released from the Rams earlier this month, he and his family had many concerns. One of them was his wife's airline ticket for the Rams' upcoming game in London which seemed as if it would have to be returned. But then the cornerback signed with the Giants. Suddenly that airline ticket came in handy.

A woman who claims that she was injured when a large, framed team photo fell on her in a stadium gift shop as she browsed for souvenirs has sued the Giants. Unfortunately this is the first time that the Giants have been sued for memorabilia incidents.

Oct 18 Ben McAdoo apparently is not a fan of Odell Beckham Jr.'s infatuation with the Giants' kicking net. Asked for further comment on Beckham's antics, McAdoo said, "We, as a team, need to focus on the ballgame." Enough said.
Eli Manning is telling Odell Beckham Jr. to grow up. Again. Manning delivered more blunt real talk Monday during his weekly radio audience with WFAN's Mike Francesa. "I think with the win, you can ignore it a little bit easier. Let the coach handle it. Obviously, we've got to be careful about getting penalties late in the game, and putting our defense in a bind right there."
Annoying. That is the gist of the Odell Beckham Jr. sideshow, according to Louis Riddick, a former NFL player, coach and front-office member. "He very much has a streak, to me, in him that is me-driven. He likes to be the center of attention no matter how much he says he doesn't want to be."

Things could get heated between Odell Beckham and Rams in London. This is a volatile mix of Beckham's explosive personality and the dirtiest team in the league. Things could get so ugly passports might be revoked. The reputations of Beckham and the Rams have only taken further hits since they last met.
The Giants will be low-maintenance on the practice facility front, since they are practicing here in New Jersey until Thursday before flying to London Thursday night and doing a walk-through at Syon Park not far from Twickenham on Friday. The Rams flew straight to London from their loss in Detroit on Sunday rather than returning to Los Angeles first.

The Giants want to know what Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie did wrong when he was flagged for a critical pass-interference penalty late in Sunday's win over the Ravens. Teams usually ask the NFL for clarification of questionable calls.
The best they can hope for is a memo from the NFL stating what the Giants believe they already know: The pass interference penalty on Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 27-23 victory over the Ravens was bogus and should not have been called.

Gamegirl ---"The Giants really needed a win here today and it didn't look good at the start. Now the fans were really cheering, because we were ahead for the first time in the game, and also for Beckham's comedy show on the sideline with the kicking net..."
Mikefan. ---"The receivers were the stars today, and the headlines tomorrow will be filled with Odell Beckham Jr. highlights, first for fumbling the ball away on his first catch, and then for all the good... I hope they don't totally ignore the bad. The football field is not Beckham's personal playground even though he behaves as if it is. If it's all about team, it's not about one player constantly trying to steal the show...

Giants (2-3) vs Ravens (3-2) Game Preview
The Ravens lost for the second time in a row playing last Sunday against the Redskins. The Ravens scored an opening drive touchdown, but all they were able to add to that for the rest of the game was a field goal. Even with a strong defensive effort, they ended up with a 16-10 loss.
The Giants were able to get two interceptions off Aaron Rodgers, but it wasn't enough. After winning their first two games, they fell to the Packers 23-16, to take their third loss in a row.
Giants - Green Bay Wrap-Up

Oct 16 Giants quarterback Eli Manning made his first career start in Week 11 of the 2004 season. He has started every game since, a streak that will reach 200 straight games, including the playoffs, on Sunday when the Giants host the Ravens at MetLife Stadium.

Eli Manning needs more time and more help. While the quarterback has been off target recently, some of the blame can be pointed at the offensive line, which struggled mightily in last week's loss. The Giants surrendered 4 sacks, 6 quarterback hits and 5 tackles for loss in the game.
Manning's play in recent weeks has been alarming enough to raise the possibility that he is in decline at age 35, and that the Giants might have to address the possibility of planning for life after Eli much sooner than expected.
Manning's off-and-on play is not a sign that age is slowing him down. On the contrary, Manning, 35, has never been more himself. That could either assure or worry Giants fans, depending on how they look at it. The number one sign of a deteriorating QB body would be less zip on Manning's fastball.

Oct 15 When the Giants' offensive tackles struggled mightily in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Packers, fans started to call for backup Will Beatty to get a shot. Beatty is ready to answer the call - if he gets it from head coach Ben McAdoo.
Eli Manning needs more time and more help. While the quarterback has been off target recently, some of the blame can be pointed at the offensive line, which struggled mightily in last week's loss to the Packers. The Giants surrendered four sacks, six quarterback hits and five tackles for loss in the game.

The Giants paid $85 million for a joke of a pass rush. Five games into the season, the Giants are still waiting on a return on their lavish investment. In fact, through five games, the Giants are dead last in the NFL with four sacks - and two have come from the secondary, one by safety Landon Collins and the other by cornerback Leon Hall.
The numbers don't exactly make sense. Olivier Vernon and Jason Pierre-Paul have just one sack each this season, but both players are among the NFL's leaders in quarterback pressures. Vernon and Pierre-Paul have made a significant impact in the run defense, which is often overlooked when it comes to setting the edge and completing that effort along the defensive front.

Oct 14 Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith fired a salvo toward Odell Beckham Jr. on Wednesday, warning the tempestuous pass catcher through the media that if Beckham takes any cheap shots or has any emotional outbursts, there will be problems.
But if Beckham's reaction was any indication, Victor Cruz doesn't think his temperamental teammate will fall prey to the goading from opponents that has tripped him up in recent games.

Now is the time for the Giants to bounce back as an easy stretch of the schedule begins. Because this year, the Scheduling Gods have set the table for a Big Blue bounceback, laying out a yellow-brick October and November.
The Giants are eying wins over the Ravens and over the Rams in London the next two weeks to be 4-3 at the bye. "Stick with us," Justin Pugh said. "We're gonna get it right." Jason Pierre-Paul referenced 2011. "We went to the Super Bowl what, 9-7?" he said. "At any given moment the season could change."

Jason Pierre-Paul says he will play Sunday despite a groin injury and that players from both teams should be on the lookout for him. After a game against the Packers in which Pierre-Paul thought "poor tackling" was the biggest culprit for the defense, particularly on third down, the defensive end will be running around the field with reckless abandon in an effort to fix the matter.

Representatives from the NFL Security Department were at the Giants' facility on Thursday to investigate the postgame altercation involving left tackle Ereck Flowers and an ESPN reporter.

Former Giants
Lorenzo Freeman, a Camden native who starred at the city's Woodrow Wilson High before going on to play at the University of Pittsburgh and later for the Giants, was found dead Monday.

Oct 13 Is Sunday's game against the Ravens a "must-win" for the Giants? Depends who you ask. The Giants are 2-3 and on a three-game losing streak. They have tumbled from first place to last in the NFC East.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie said there's an extra level of preparation necessary when lining up against Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith. The 37-year-old Smith is known as much for his production as his fiery playing style.
The Giants and Ravens had a combined 21 players listed on their injury reports as preparations began for Sunday's game at MetLife Stadium, with 13 of those players, many of them big names, missing practice entirely. The Giants were without five players who have started on their defense this season.

It's not Eli's fault. That was the message from multiple key Giants on Wednesday, as talk had begun to grow that the Big Blue's offensive struggles should be placed on Eli Manning's shoulders, that at the age of 35, the two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback is in decline.

The Giants are sticking with Ereck Flowers at left tackle, despite his on-field struggles and off-field controversy. in the case of Flowers, it sounds like he is locked in at the moment heading into Sunday's home game against the Ravens.

After playing him just about every defensive snap this season, the Giants may be forced to replace Jason Pierre-Paul. At least to some degree.
Pierre-Paul has played 351 of a possible 365 snaps this year, though he did sit out nine plays in Sunday's loss to the Packers. He has one sack, a forced fumble and 24 tackles on the season.

After missing three games with a thumb injury, Rashad Jennings said that Wednesday's practice was "step one" in his return. It was, he said, the first time he has taken a full share of offensive reps.

Oct 12 Never mind being included among the NFL's top five quarterbacks, right now Eli Manning would settle for winning a game. And the common problem across the streak has been the shortcomings of the offense, putting Manning and his 35-year-old self in a discussion no veteran quarterback wants to be part of.
It will be his 200th start, including postseason. He's won two Super Bowl MVPs, been to four Pro Bowls and become the undisputed face of the Giants franchise. And yet it seems some of those same questions that surfaced after Dec. 12, 2004, are hovering in the air as we approach this game on Oct. 16, 2016. Is he good enough?

Victor Cruz was only targeted twice in the Giants' 23-16 loss, including a downfield pass from Eli Manning early in the fourth quarter. Packers cornerback Quinten Rollins was in position to make an interception, but Cruz turned into a defender and knocked the ball away. Despite playing all 56 offensive snaps, Cruz finished the game without a catch.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie impresses with toughness. Rodgers-Cromartie said that he was "beat down" after Sunday's game, but he didn't feel that he made the injury any worse. He is optimistic that he'll be ready to play on Sunday against the Ravens.

The Giants added both experience and youth to their defense as they signed cornerback Coty Sensabaugh and linebacker Deontae Skinner. Sensabaugh was a free agent who was released by the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday, while Skinner was signed off the practice squad.

Oct 11 This is the third year of this marriage between Eli Manning and Ben McAdoo, their third year with Odell Beckham Jr. And the sky is no longer the limit. The sky is falling on Giants fans. The offense looks broken. Fix it, Coach McAdoo. And fix it now.
Will Giants' Ben McAdoo consider giving up play call duties? They are averaging 17.8 points-per-game, which is the sixth-lowest average in the NFL. McAdoo called the plays for the Giants the last two seasons, leading them to a pair of top-10 finishes both years.

Five games into the season, there are two questions I didn't anticipate asking about the Giants: --How can they be in last place in the NFC East with Kirk Cousins (Washington) and rookies Carson Wentz (Eagles) and Dak Prescott (Cowboys) starting at quarterback when they have a two-time Super Bowl MVP? And, -- What is wrong with Eli Manning?

Giants coach Ben McAdoo called the postgame behavior of left tackle Ereck Flowers on Sunday "unacceptable." McAdoo said multiple members of the organization have spoken to Flowers, who pushed ESPN reporter Jordan Raanan in the locker room after the Giants' 23-16 loss to the Packers.
Flowers' frustration likely stemmed from his poor performance at Lambeau Field. A first-round pick in 2015, Flowers allowed two sacks, was called for a holding penalty, and struggled to keep his man from pressuring quarterback Eli Manning.
The question posed to Ben McAdoo was about Ereck Flowers, specifically whether the second-year left tackle is playing well this season. The revealing part of the answer applies to the entire Giants team. Manning focused on throwing short or intermediate passes, but those intentions sometimes went awry because he was sacked three times.

Giants (2-2) vs Packers (2-1) Game Preview
The Packers were on a bye last week, and maybe it was good that they had time to reflect. The week prior, they let a 31-3 lead slip to a one touchdown 34-27 score. Aaron Rodgers, scrambling for 11 yards and a first down, is all that kept the Lions off the field for one last shot to tie the score.
The Giants had hoped to get back on track after losing their first game of the season to Washington. It didn't happen last Monday night in Minnesota. Their same bad habits; giving up big plays, turnovers, and penalties, continued as they took a 24-10 loss.
Giants - Vikings Wrap-Up

Oct 9 This return trip to Lambeau Field - the Giants' first since the 2011 playoffs and their divisional upset of the then-reigning Super Bowl champion Packers - represents a potential turning point in a season that already has gone through some turns and promises to take a few more before it is over.

Beckham, Eli Manning and the Giants offense could have a huge passing night against the Packers on Sunday: Green Bay veteran corner Sam Shields is out, and the next corner up, Damarious Randall, is questionable. If Beckham continues his sideshow, though, there will be an appropriate amount of conversation about any on-field success, and frankly, there probably won't be a Giants win at Lambeau Field, in Beckham's first-ever trip to the hallowed Midwest gridiron.

Should the Giants attempt to find offensive balance or should they make this a pass-heavy game all the way? The Giants are a middling rushing team (19th ranked) but could have Rashad Jennings back after he missed the past two games with a left thumb injury - added to Orleans Darkwa, Bobby Rainey and rookie Paul Perkins. Handing these running backs the ball might be akin to having them plow into a brick wall. The Packers are No. 1 in the league in run defense,

Oct 8 This past offseason, the New York Giants invested $95 million in contracts given to defensive ends Jason Pierre-Paul and Olivier Vernon. Based on the snap counts logged by each man, it seems the Giants are determined to squeeze every last penny out of those two.
The Giants need home-run hitters, and Pierre-Paul and Vernon are stroking singles and doubles. Spagnuolo did not agree with that analogy, but also acknowledged, "I think they would tell you, because they are prideful men, that they would like to step it up."

No nostaglia for Ben McAdoo about playing Packers. Justin Pugh said McAdoo has been "stoic" about his return, but knows that is just a front. "Obviously deep down there's a little extra," Pugh said. "You go back and you're going against the team that you used to coach and city you used to live in. There's no way around that."

Odell Beckham's wallet has taken a hit as a result of his Minny Meltdown. The Giants wide receiver was fined $24,309 for his unsportsmanlike conduct (taunting) penalty against Xavier Rhodes in the Giants' 24-10 loss to the Vikings on Monday.
Beckham has been racking up the fines this season. He was hit with a $36,000 fine for a blindside hit on Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro in Week 2 and he got a $12,154 fine in Week 1 for excessive celebration after a Victor Cruz touchdown. CBS Sports reported that Beckham plans to appeal both of those fines.

Oct 7 Cloud of Odell Beckham drama has covered Giants' mediocre defense. So far, Jerry Reese's latest and greatest "rebuilt" defense is once again letting the entire team down, and it's desperately searching for a way to turn things around this Sunday night against Aaron Rodgers and the high-powered Packers.
Veteran Packers beat writer Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel provided an inside look at the Giants through the opinions of scouts and personnel executives. While it's a great way for Packers fan to learn, it also gives Giants fans an unfiltered assessment of their team.

Odell Beckham Jr. wants to be a role model, not a distraction. A contrite Beckham vowed Thursday to clean up his behavior after a spate of recent incidents that have tested the Giants' patience with their star wide receiver.
Beckham looks ready to move forward with a more mature attitude. The test will be when he gets into a game situation that requires him to rise above the temptation to act out. Then and only then will we get a true gauge of whether his heartfelt words Thursday will translate to changed behavior.
WFAN host Mike Francesa asked if McAdoo thinks he has Beckham under control; McAdoo said he is focused on winning in Green Bay. "I think you guys are doing a lousy job with him," Francesa said, comparing the situation to the tenure of tight end Jeremy Shockey that eventually spoiled.

Oct 6 Goading Odell Beckham may become part of opposition's game plan. Very few cornerbacks in the NFL can handle him as a pure receiver, but there are clearly ways to throw him off his game. Xavier Rhodes of the Vikings proved that the other night for the Vikings.
The NFL has instructed officials to be on the lookout for defensive players that will try to "bait" the Giants' tempestuous wide receiver into another emotional meltdown. And McAdoo said it's entirely possible someone will send a goon, or their checking line, out to go straight at Beckham.
Every sports commentator with a microphone or Internet access this week has seemingly weighed in on Beckham, from his former coach Tom Coughlin to Brett Favre to Dez Bryant. They all dissect how Beckham's emotions shape his play, whether it is good or bad for the Giants.

Teammates have publicly supported Beckham since his emotions became a hot-button issue last week. Giants coach Ben McAdoo stressed the importance of unity in a team meeting on Wednesday. "I think today was our best meeting as a team," offensive lineman Justin Pugh said.
McAdoo is correct: the roster is what it is, and these very same players who have contributed to the two-game slide by committing ill-timed penalties or costly turnovers are the very same players who, if they band together and sharpen their focus, can get the Giants back on the right track.

Oct 5 Odell Beckham Jr., whose temper got the best of him again in a 24-10 loss to the Vikings on Monday night, told ESPN Radio on Tuesday he is "not having fun anymore" on the field, and is "frustrated" by his limited opportunities of late.
Odell Beckham Jr. regularly has described his distaste for losing. Apparently, he has found something worse: losing without getting a chance to help the team win.
According to ESPN, the Giants have targeted Beckham Jr. just eight times in the first quarters of the first four games of this season.
It turns out his Achilles' heel is inside his head. Even if he doesn't believe it or is willing to admit as much. Consider: In three of his last five games, Beckham has lost his cool.
Ben McAdoo defended Beckham against assertions that the wide receiver is developing a history for senseless penalties and an inability to control his emotions.
Eli Manning, who rarely says anything critical, now for two straight weeks has gone on record criticizing Beckham's behavior. GM Jerry Reese knew very well that at least six or seven reporters were watching when he sat down for a long talk with Beckham in a mostly empty locker room.

A look at questions facing the Giants following their 24-10 loss to the Vikings as they head to Lambeau Field. How does Odell Beckham Jr. find a way to get past the "me-against-the-world" mentality? Will the secondary get any healthier to face Rodgers and the Packers?

The beaten-up Giants' secondary could use some help Sunday night in Green Bay against Aaron Rodgers, and Ben McAdoo is hopeful a few of his injured defensive backs can return. McAdoo said cornerbacks Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (groin) and Eli Apple (hamstring) will practice on a limited basis Wednesday.

Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo said that defensive ends Jason Pierre-Paul and Olivier Vernon need to play fewer snaps. Maybe Spagnuolo meant next week, because the defensive ends again played nearly every snap in the Giants' 24-10 loss to the Vikings.

Former Giants
Tom Coughlin joined the club - the Odell-Beckham-Jr.-needs-to-grow-up club. The former Giants coach said the superstar wide receiver has to learn how to control his emotions "for his own good."
Tom Coughlin is fond of Odell Beckham Jr., but the former Giants coach did not pull any punches during a television appearance when asked about the star wideout's latest meltdown.
Tom Coughlin coached Beckham in 2014-15, his final two seasons as the Giants' coach before stepping down. Under Coughlin, Beckham flourished as a wide receiver.

Giants (2-1) vs Vikings (3-0) Game Preview
Last week the Vikings traveled to Carolina and they were down 10-2 at the end of the first quarter. The Panthers had won their last 14 home games, but the Vikings did not allow any more points to be scored in that game. The Vikings now own a 3-0 record after defeating the Carolina Panthers 22-10.
The Giants were off to a good start this season after winning their first two games. Last week they did themselves in with turnovers and penalties, and by giving up big plays to the Redskins. The end result was a 29-27 home loss to the Washington Redskins.
Giants - Washington Wrap-Up

Oct 3 The Giants set a goal of averaging 28 points per game, and so far this season they haven't even scored that in a single game. Their average is a relatively low 21.0 heading into Monday night's game at Minnesota, but their confidence is much higher.

The Giants face their biggest challenge of the season on Monday night. Coming off their first loss and with a number of key players sidelined by injuries, the Giants (2-1) travel to Minnesota to face the 3-0 Vikings at raucous U.S. Bank Stadium. The odds are stacked against a Giants win, but it's not impossible task. Here are five things the Giants must do to beat the Vikings.

NFC East News
Redskins lean on opportunistic second-half defense to beat Browns, 31-20.
Cowboys beat 49ers 24-17, Coming back from two touchdown deficit.

Oct 2 With Shane Vereen sidelined for at least a few months if not the rest of the season with a triceps injury and Rashad Jennings listed as questionable while dealing with a thumb injury that kept him out of last week's game against Washington, Darkwa is in line to be the Giants' starting running back on Monday night against the Vikings.

Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul said he'll only come out of games if he is feeling tired. Clearly, Pierre-Paul has been feeling fresh during the first three games of this season. Pierre-Paul has played 206 of the Giants' 211 defensive snaps (97.6 percent) this season. That's highest usage of any defensive end in the NFL, according to sportingcharts.com.

When the decibels inside U.S. Bank Stadium had finally quieted down, T.J. Clemmings could still hear the noise. Vikings fans took their lumps in the aftermath of that game for maintaining their mania even when the home team was trying to operate its offense, and Clemmings and the rest of his offensive linemen surely hope the home crowd shows a little more awareness Monday night.

Oct 1 Giants haven't come close to reaching offense's potential: Victor Cruz. Even with Eli Manning directing one of the league's most talented receiving corps, the Giants haven't yet become the juggernaut offense imagined if Cruz and Shepard played so well so quickly.

Vikings' new stadium won't be easy on Giants' ears. U.S. Bank Stadium proving to be an acoustic nightmare for opponents Ben McAdoo was an assistant with the Packers and every year he would have to play a road game against the Vikings in the deafening MetroDome. "I don't know if you can get any louder than that building there," he said. He's about to find out.

With injuries tearing away at the safety position for the second year in a row, the New York Giants will hold workouts Sunday morning before they depart for Minnesota in hopes of adding some depth. Among those the NFL Network reported are scheduled to work out Sunday include 31-year-old Donte Whitner and Shamiel Gary.

Sept 30 Instead of going after kicking nets, perhaps Odell Beckham Jr. will get the chance to hit someone as a safety. Giants head coach Ben McAdoo wouldn't rule it out, as injuries have gotten so bad with Big Blue he is already working out offensive players on defense in Week 4.

The Giants have played three games decided by a combined six points. Odell Beckham Jr. has had about enough of that. "I don't really want to play these games where we're sitting here and trying to fight all game," the star receiver said. "Going through adversity is great, but every single game? It doesn't need to be like that. It doesn't need to be a nail-biter or come down to the fourth quarter."

Beckham's temperament is once again in the spotlight after the Giants' 29-27 loss to Washington on Sunday, during which the receiver's frustrations boiled over on the sideline in the second half. While many athletes often consult sports psychologists to improve their performance, Beckham said he doesn't feel he needs the help.

With all due respect to anyone who thinks he's a distraction, New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. disagrees. Beckham brushed off any questions regarding Ben McAdoo's comments about the receiver needing to do a better job controlling himself in and outside of the white lines, instead choosing to talk about the Giants' upcoming game against Minnesota Monday night.

After receiving three targets during the first three quarters against the Redskins last weekend, Beckham made five fourth-quarter catches and finished with 121 yards, but his late stretch of success wasn't enough to prevent the Giants from losing. Days later, Beckham still wondered why it took so long for the Giants to utilize the attack that appeared unstoppable.

Sept 29 Orleans Darkwa smiled at the suggestion of starting on Monday Night Football. From the time he went undrafted out of Tulane, this was his mission, to be a key contributor for an offense.
Rashad Jennings said his injured thumb is feeling much better and he expects to fully practice with the team on Thursday. Jennings, who missed Sunday's loss to the Redskins, said he will leave all major decisions up to the team's medical staff, but he feels like he can play Monday in Minnesota.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie said Wednesday that he "definitely" believes he will be able to play in the Giants' upcoming Monday Night Football road test in Minnesota, despite a groin injury that sidelined the veteran corner mid-game from last Sunday's 29-27 home loss to Washington.

Odell Beckham Jr. is beginning to have more in common with Terrell Owens than explosive plays and being known by his initials. Beckham has become a look-at-me diva wide receiver who melts down on the sideline when things are not going his way. That's Owens.
Victor Cruz said Odell Beckham Jr. needs to "understand what he means to this team and how his energy affects everyone," and Cruz vowed to act as "a friend and a brother" to the hot-headed receiver.

Sept 28 So much changed when Eli Manning and the Giants self-destructed and gave the now-1-2 Redskins renewed hope and life and blew a chance to get to 3-0. The rookie head coach of the Giants suddenly finds himself forced to confront a slew of formidable clear and present dangers.

Ben McAdoo raised some eyebrows Monday when he referred to wideout Odell Beckham Jr.'s sideline tantrum during the Giants' loss to the Redskins as a distraction for Beckham, and the team.
McAdoo said the coaching staff must help Beckham's "maturing" process. But Beckham is going to have to meet his coach halfway and lighten McAdoo's load in the hand-holding department.

Giants out to prove the Washington loss was an aberration. The way the Giants see it, they're still undefeated. They beat the Cowboys, they beat the Saints, and then they beat themselves.

Some teams may be terrified of playing without their two top running backs. The Giants seem to be excited about the prospect. Orleans Darkwa could emerge as the heavy lifter in the backfield this week against the Vikings.

Michael Hunter has to hope his stay on the Giants' 53-man roster is longer this time around. Hunter will be re-signed to the Giants' 53-man roster. Hunter is expected to fill the roster spot opened by running back Shane Vereen being placed on injured reserve.

Sept 27 Special Report - The Giants' golden opportunity turned into a nightmare Sunday when they found a way - and there is no doubt they seemed to be looking for one - to lose to the Washington Redskins, 29-27. Now the nightmare hit another tier when it was disclosed that running back Shane Vereen, their leading rusher, will be lost for the remainder of the season with a torn triceps muscle injury that will require surgery.

The Giants steered clear of injuries in the preseason, but they are getting hit with them now that the real games are here. They learned Monday they lost Vereen, their most versatile running back, to a triceps injury that will require surgery and likely end his season, suddenly thrusting a position of depth into a position of concern.

The Giants got what they wanted out of Odell Beckham Jr. on Sunday when he was on the field. He caught seven passes for 121 yards and stayed away from any altercations with nemesis Josh Norman. Off the field, though, was a different story.

The NFL landscape can change in the blink of an Odell Beckham Jr. tantrum. Sorry, Giants fans, better hold off on any coronation of your New York Football Giants as NFC East champs. So much changed Sunday when Eli Manning and the Giants self-destructed and gave the now 1-2 Redskins renewed hope and life and blew a chance to get to 3-0.

the Giants defense had played well in the first two games, but they didn't hold up today, as Washington hit them for some big plays. That coupled with injures, poor decisions by some players, and questionable coaching choices, added up to a loss."

Giants (2-0) vs Redskins (0-2) Game Preview
Last week in the fourth quarter, the Redskins were up by 3 points. They hoped to extend their lead down at the Cowboys 6 yard line, but Kirk Cousins threw an interception in the end zone. Later Alfred Morris, their former running back, scored the go-ahead touchdown to give his new Cowboys team a 27-23 win.
The Giants were playing in their home opener after coming off a close win in Dallas. Their defense limited the Saints to just 13 points. With the special teams unit scoring a touchdown to add to their three field goals, the Giants fans went home happy with a 16-13 win.
Giants - Saints Wrap-Up

Sept 25 Odell Beckham Jr. meets Josh Norman again -- and it's up to Ben McAdoo to manage the mayhem. It's here - the undefeated Giants (2-0) and winless Washington (0-2) in an early, must-see NFC East clash, with Washington so desperate that Giants coach Ben McAdoo on Friday compared them to "hungry animals."
Nine months later, Beckham and the Giants firmly believe he has matured and moved on and there will be no second act with Norman, who signed a five-year, $75 million deal with the Redskins. The officials will be watching, and, no doubt, throwing flags at the slightest hint of mischief.
Giants unconcerned if Josh Norman shadows Odell Beckham Jr. In fact, they may be reveling in it because they are one of the few teams that can afford to lose some production from their best receiver and still have two others who can win them a game.

Sept 24 The Giants will officially be without two starters for Sunday's contest against Washington. And they could be missing a third. Starting right tackle Marshall Newhouse (calf) and starting rookie free safety Darian Thompson (sprained foot) have been ruled out for Week 3.
All week, Rashad Jennings has been confident his injured left thumb wouldn't prevent him from facing the Redskins, but the Giants are listing their starting running back as questionable to play Sunday. Jennings was limited in practice this week, wearing a large wrap on his left hand.

Keenan Robinson getting Giants fired up to face his former team. Earlier this week, Robinson was stirring the pot ahead of the Giants' clash with Washington. Amid reports of fractures in the Washington locker room, Robinson offered insights from his own experience.

The Giants are one of just three NFL teams without a takeaway in the first two games (Seattle and Tampa Bay), but the only one to have won their first two games.

Sept 23 Rashad Jennings reiterated he will stand for the national anthem prior to Sunday's game between the Giants and Redskins, and he expects his teammates to do the same.
Giants players are still debating how to best convey their condemnation of racial injustice in this country. But they almost certainly won't be protesting in any manner during the national anthem Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

The relatively healthy New York Giants have perhaps their first significant injury on defense to deal with all of a sudden thanks to the foot sprain suffered by rookie starting safety Darian Thompson.
Devon Kennard was expected to be an important piece of the Giants defense this season. But through two games, the linebacker has played just 37 defensive snaps and recorded five tackles.

The Giants are one of just three NFL teams without a single takeaway in the first two games, sharing that blank slate with the Seahawks and Buccaneers. Adding in the four turnovers on offense, the Giants are minus-four in turnover ratio, 31st out of 32 teams.

Everyone who is talking about Josh Norman this week is talking about the wrong defense when it comes to Sunday's Washington-Giants slugfest at MetLife Stadium.
Norman is the story and the story-teller. And he's yapping exclusively on Fox's lead-in to its 1 p.m. Washington-Giants telecast. Needless to say Fox's pregame competition won't be able to provide such an intimate assessment of Norman vs OBJ.
Rookie Sterling Shepard focusing on himself, not others. All the questions from the media about the subject, not to mention the questions the players undoubtedly have for themselves.

Sept 22 A week after the Giants players criticized Redskins cornerback Josh Norman for not covering Steelers star wide receiver Antonio Brown, Norman reportedly will shadow Odell Beckham Jr. in Sunday's matchup. Norman will cover Beckham all over the field, except the slot.
Josh Norman wouldn't say if the plan is for him to shadow Odell Beckham Jr. on Sunday. But Norman wants to. Badly. "Heck yeah, why not?" the cornerback said with a smile Wednesday. "Shoot, man, that's the competitor that's inside of me, man. I don't shy away from nobody."

Giants unconcerned if Josh Norman shadows Odell Beckham Jr. In fact, they may be reveling in it because they are one of the few teams that can afford to lose some production from their best receiver and still have two others who can win them a game.
Of all the advice Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has received in the months since his on-field confrontation with cornerback Josh Norman, there is one message that continues to resonate in advance of their gridiron rematch. "Don't lose it, kid."

DeAngelo Hall is just happy to hear Keenan Robinson has a job. Or something like that A day after Robinson, a Giants linebacker who spent the last four years in Washington, called out the Redskins and their perennially dysfunctional locker room, his old teammate had a hard-to-believe, and hilarious, retort.

Sept 20 Here we go again. The Giants are 2-0 and have a golden opportunity Sunday to further distance themselves from the Redskins, last year's NFC East champions, who are 0-2 with two losses on their home field.
Plenty of attention will be paid to Sunday's Odell Beckham Jr. versus Josh Norman matchup, with the Giants receiver and Washington cornerback facing one another for the first time since last December's throwdown at MetLife Stadium.
Beckham didn't want to address his inexcusable final-drive drop after Sunday's 16-13 win over New Orleans. Football may be a team sport, and the third-year receiver did his part with eight catches for 86 yards. Giants WR Beckham has advantage vs. Saints' inexperienced corners But the Giants' defense isn't going to win all of these games.

The Giants have allowed only three plays of 20 or more yards, all on passes. They are the only NFL team that has yet to allow a play of any kind for 30 or more yards. This new group has been almost flawless in its technique and tackling.
Rashad Jennings "banged his hand up a little bit" in the second half against New Orleans, but he should work when the Giants resume practice Wednesday. McAdoo did say he expects Jennings to be limited in some capacity, however.

On The Game: Game 2
Gamegirl ---"I didn't know what to expect when I saw the Giants take the field for their first home game. They were coming off a close win over the Cowboys, but with the Saints and Drew Brees coming in, the competition would be tougher today."
Mikefan. ---"
If this was a Super Bowl game some longshot bets would have paid off. Special teams scored the first touchdown. No running back on either team scored a touchdown. Drew Brees threw only one touchdown. Eli Manning threw none, and so all his receivers caught none. That includes Beckham who had eight catches for 130 yards and three touchdowns last time against the Saints."

Giants (1-0) vs Saints (0-1) Game Preview
Last week In the third quarter, the Raiders were down by 14 points. Later, closing the gap to five, they went for a two point conversion that failed. So the Raiders were down by eight when the Saints added a field goal. After scoring a touchdown, the Raiders two point attempt worked to tie the score. The Saints scored another touchdown to go up by seven, and then the Raiders scored one of their own. Sticking by their guns (swords?) they went for two and won the game by one point, 35-34.
The Giants were playing in Dallas and they won their opener for the first time since 2010. With Tony Romo out, the Cowboys started rookie quarterback Dak Prescott. He and his offense showed good ball control throughout the game scoring one touchdown and four field goals. The Giants offense came up with three touchdowns and had one missed point after attempt. That was enough to give new head coach Ben McAdoo his first win, 20-19.

Sept 18 Giants must start paying fans back after years of heartbreak. If coach Ben McAdoo is right, Giants fans won't recognize the team that comes storming out of the tunnel into their Big Blue hearts for the first time in 2016. A team that owes them 2-0.

The Saints are marching in to MetLife Stadium on Sunday, but the Giants are swaggering into their Week 2 home opener and it's not just because of their 1-0 record after a 20-19 Week 1 win in Dallas. It's because they got their swagger back before they even beat the Cowboys.

For this game - and another two after it at least - Drew Brees is the acting dean of NFL starting quarterbacks. Nobody in the league has had more starts than him (217) except Tom Brady (223), who is serving a four-game suspension.

Who helps Giants most with a Week 2 win - Cowboys or Redskins? The Giants will be focused on their home opener against the Saints on Sunday, but two of their NFC East rivals will be meeting at the same time - and both need a win badly.

Sept 17 Janoris Jenkins likes to go by his nickname: Jackrabbit. He got it when he was a child in Florida and would spend his time and demonstrate his athleticism by chasing rabbits. After one game with the Giants, though, he might be ready for a new moniker: Shutdown corner.

The Giants might have to face the NFL's leading passer without one of their leading pass rushers. Though Jason Pierre-Paul vowed to play Sunday when the Giants face Drew Brees and the Saints at MetLife Stadium, coach Ben McAdoo isn't sounding as confident.

Drew Brees certainly didn't look 37 years old last week while strafing the Raiders with yet another of his trademark 400-yard passing days. Giants safety Landon Collins and his defensive teammates know they could be in for a similar roasting Sunday at MetLife Stadium if Big Blue can't find a way to get Brees out of rhythm.

Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz were both fined over $12,000 each for a group celebration in the Giants' 20-19 season-opening victory, a league source confirmed to NJ Advance Media. Beckham pantomimed taking a photo of Cruz as he did the (salsa) dance after a touchdown, which is where the group celebration apparently comes into play.

Ben McAdoo and the Giants' players so frequently have uttered the phrase "stay humble" this week that you wonder if they'd just prefer to hand their 20-19 Week 1 win in Dallas back to the Cowboys, so as not to offend anyone or grow too enamored with a 1-0 start.

Sept 16 As a collective unit, the Giants' offensive line swats away criticism like it was a fly that had lost its way and invaded their territory. As individuals, they're a bit more sensitive about being told they aren't capable of doing something well.
When it comes to assessing Giants tight end Larry Donnell, it can be complicated. Donnell has been an asset in the passing game, but struggled with ball security and blocking.

Will Tye could have used a sick day against Cowboys. His illness altered the Giants' game plan a bit. They planned to use a bit more two tight-end looks with Tye and Larry Donnell, but because of Tye's limitations they went with three receivers for most of the game.

Eli Apple faces stiffer test this week in Saints QB Drew Brees. Rookie cornerback had some rough spots in debut vs. Dallas, feels confident he can cope with Brees' skill, experience This won't just be a different opponent for Eli Apple. At times it might feel like a different sport.

It was a game that had everything, as long as you do not include defense in your definition of everything. There were 101 points, 1,030 total yards, 840 passing yards, 64 first downs and an NFL record 13 touchdown passes.
All week, the Giants have relived the misery inflicted by the Saints last season, recounting the embarrassment of allowing 52 points. The defense watched the highlights it remembered too well, ashamed that 49 points from the offense wasn't enough. For Jason Pierre-Paul, it is easy to believe Sunday's game won't play out the same.
Jason Pierre-Paul sat out Thursday's practice but expects to play Sunday. Pierre-Paul is the only one on the team's injury report this week with a football-related issue. The only other is DT Robert Thomas who is dealing with an illness.

Darian Thompson appears to have earned the starting free safety job - again. The Giants rookie won the starting spot in training camp but suffered a shoulder injury in the preseason, which enabled Nat Berhe to receive the season-opening start at Dallas.

Giants fullback Nikita Whitlock, who is on injured reserve with a foot injury, has been suspended without pay for the team's next 10 games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Sept 15 Why Giants can dream of breaking Sunday's scoreboard. Odell Beckham Jr. sees what everyone else sees when he takes a look at the Giants receivers and their impending matchup with the Saints' cornerbacks.
The Giants have a history of playing high-scoring games against the New Orleans Saints. From 2003-15, the teams met seven times, and the winner never scored less than 27 points. Five times, the victors put at least 45 points on the board.

The winning team in the last four games between the Giants and the Saints has scored at least 48 points, marking the first time in NFL history two opponents have had such high-output victories against each other. The losing team in those four games has averaged over 31 points per game.
If Odell Beckham Jr. gets stopped on Sunday, it will be by someone you have never heard of. To call the Saints' cornerbacks young and inexperienced is an understatement. With top cornerback Delvin Breaux out injured, New Orleans' top three CBs are P.J. Williams, Ken Crawley and De'Vante Harris. All three made their NFL debuts on Sunday in the Saints' one-point loss to the Raiders.

Football fans and bus riders could be in for a rough ride this weekend when lanes are closed on Route 495 east for emergency bridge repairs. Those repairs, scheduled from 10 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday, will affect football traffic from the Giants game at MetLife Stadium on Sunday and NJ Transit buses traveling to the Port Authority Bus terminal in New York all weekend.

Sept 14 The Giants no longer have two kickers on their active roster. Defensive tackle Montori Hughes, who was waived by the team prior to the start of the regular season, re-signed with the Giants on Tuesday. To make room for Hughes, the Giants released kicker Randy Bullock.

Eli Manning says Tom Coughlin texted him congrats after beating Cowboys. Eli Manning played his first regular season game with the Giants on Sunday without Tom Coughlin as his head coach.
The quarterback said there wasn't any sense of weirdness or absence playing his first game without having Coughlin to lean on. "I kind of used the things that I've learned from him over the years so I think in that sense he's always kind of a part of iit."
Though Eli and his recently retired brother used to regularly share information on opponents, the Giants quarterback said Peyton simply was there as a fan on Sunday. "He's just there to support."

The first touchdown of the season for the Giants showed exactly what they are capable of. They went 74 yards on three straight passes to Sterling Shepard, Odell Beckham Jr. and Larry Donnell - bang, bang, bang - taking only 58 seconds to reach the end zone. More than a third of their passing yards in the game came on those three snaps.

The Giants trailed at the end of the third quarter, 16-13. When they rallied to win, it broke a streak of 11 consecutive losses in games in which they were behind entering the fourth quarter. Dak Prescott was the 83rd starting quarterback Eli Manning has faced.

Giants offense scary good with healthy Victor Cruz, but can they keep up with Drew Brees and Saints? If the Giants can count on last Sunday's version of Cruz this season, the potential for their offense is obviously off the charts.
Here's a look at the five questions facing the Giants following their 20-19 victory over the Cowboys and heading into Sunday's home opener against the Saints.

Sept 13 The Giants' crowded linebacker corps thinned a bit Monday when the team placed veteran J.T. Thomas on injured reserve.
Kicker Josh Brown is being reinstated to the 53-man roster following his one-week suspension for a domestic violence arrest in May 2015, so Brown fills Thomas' roster spot immediately.

Giants coach Ben McAdoo had no intention of easing receiver Victor Cruz back into the lineup after a nearly two-year layoff. McAdoo was true to his word, playing Cruz for 50 of 56 offensive snaps in Sunday's season-opening 20-19 win over the Cowboys.

Upon Further Review: Secondary stands out in win. one and eight - the total number of catches and receiving yards by Dez Bryant, the Cowboys' two-time Pro Bowl wideout, who averaged 4.9 receptions and 69.3 yards in his first 84 career games.

On The Game: Game 1
Gamegirl ---"After a one yard run by Rashad Jennings, Eli Manning wasted no time completing three straight pass plays to rookie Sterling Shepard, Odell Beckham Jr., and Larry Donnell for a touchdown to take a 7-6 lead. They Cowboys got it back with yet another field goal, but then Sterling Shepard showed his skills with a nine yard touchdown catch."
Mikefan. ---"
The rookie was doing well until Cowboys Brandon Carr (no interceptions since 2013) was able to bedazzle Shepard and grab an easy interception off Eli Manning. Like we had said in our preview, Shepard is a talented player, but you have to expect rookie mistakes."

Giants (0-0) vs Cowboys (0-0) Game Preview
Last year the Cowboys finished last in the NFC East with a 4-12 record. They sunk badly after a 12-4 first place finish the year earlier. The Giants finished third in the division for the third consecutive year, repeating their prior years 6-10 win-loss record. The Cowboys had won the season opener with the Giants and the Giants took the second game.
Overall
I have to think back to when Eli Manning was a rookie and he had the benefit of watching and learning while Kurt Warner ran the show for nine games before making his first start. Manning went on to lose the next six games before notching his first win in the very last game of the season. (It was against the Cowboys by the way.)
With that thought I feel the Cowboys are asking a lot from fourth-round rookie quarterback Dak Prescott. It's one of the reasons they recently picked up Mark Sanchez, who knows what it feels like to run a team at full NFL game speed. They'll be depending on a strong running game to help Prescott out, but once again running back Ezekiel Elliott is a rookie playing in his first NFL game against a Giants defense that looks to be well improved over last year.
