Giants lose to a tough Carolina team 27-20.
Eli Manning was 9-of-15 for 117 yards.
Kurt Warner was 9-of-11 for 71 yards and 1 INT.
Jesse Palmer was 5-of-15 for 65 yards.
Willie Ponder had 5 catches for 31 yards.
Amani Toomer had 4 catches for 45 yards.
Ron Dayne and Chris Douglas had 1-yard TD runs.

Game Notes:
"The Giants look like they have three good quarterbacks. Now if they could only round off the rest of the team. Cris Collingsworth hit on it right away when he commented on Ron Dayne's
failure to make a 3rd down and 1. The Giants don't have a power running back, and they keep trying to make Ron Dayne fit that role.
He also was right on when he pointed out that the Giants have no answer for the missing Mike Barrow, someone the Giants could
have retained for this season. All in all, even in losing, I think the Giants played a better game this week than last. After facing Kansas City and Carolina back to back, I say go ahead,
"Bring on the Jets."
Game Notes:
"Manning looked real good tonight except for two rookie mistakes, one where he pulled a delay of game penalty, and another
where he held onto the ball too long and was almost sacked in the endzone. Kurt Warner was thrown in near the end of the half with only 1:38 left. Coughlin probably figured he had more experience
and a better shot at getting a score with not much time left. Warner was sacked twice before they gave Dayne the ball. Dayne picked up 12, but they needed 19 for a first down.
Overall Eli Manning looked better than you would expect for being a rookie. Kurt Warner tried to make things happen, but it wasn't happening against the Carolina Panthers. Jesse Palmer once
again looked good, a victim of dropped passes."

Notes:
Eli Manning led two drives that resulted in field goals and went 9-of-17 for 117 yards while playing nearly the entire first half.
Kurt Warner came on late in the first half and was sacked on his first two plays.
Kurt led one scoring drive, completed 9-of-11 passes for 71 yards and also had an interception returned 49 yards for a touchdown by cornerback William Hampton.
Kurt Warner was sacked four times overall.
Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey did not play because of a foot injury.
Radell Lockhar who spent the entire 2003 season on the Giants’ practice squad came away with 2 sacks. Michael Strahan and Mario Monds each had 1 sack.
Giants had a total of 16 injured players not suiting up, including 6 starters – 7 if you count kicker Bill Gramatica.
Brandon Short, a Giant the previous four seasons, caused Willie Ponder to fumble a kickoff return.
Carolina linebacker Jessie Armstead, who spent 9 seasons with the Giants, was inactive because of an injured shoulder.
