Giants lose the second preseason game 20-10.
Kerry Collins was 11-for-19 for 127 yards and 1 touchdown.
Tiki Barber rushed 15 times for 61 yards.
Amani Toomer had three catches for 57 yards.

Game Notes:
"There were a lot of no-shows, and I have to admit I was one of them this time. Many people got to stay late in the city area the night before, like it or not, and I think it was reflected a little in the poor attendance for this game. The Giants on the other hand would have been better off if the blackout lasted an extra day.
Actually, they played better in this game than the last. The offense looked much better except for Shockey, who was a major disappointment. Despite losing this one, the Giants first unit looked much sharper on defense.
Overall, John Fox had his Panthers ready to go, and the Giants looked like.. well, like they always seem to look in a Fassel preseason.. like they needed a lot more work."

Game Notes:
"The Giants did better then last week when they had four turnovers on two fumbles and two interceptions, and remember, they gave up seven sacks. Most important for the offensive line, right tackle Ian Allen improved on the job, and David Diehl held up in his first start, replacing Tam Hopkins.
Ian Allen went up against Julius Peppers, who had 12 sacks in 12 games as a rookie last season, and Allen was fairly successful even though Peppers got by him once for a 7 yard sack on Kerry Collins. Improvement on the front line is what the Giants were looking for, and that's what they got.
I don't know what was going on between Jim Fassel and Marcellus Rivers, but at one point, it looked like they were ready to book a spot on Celebrity Boxing. Backup quarterback Jessie Palmer could have done better with his time in the second half, and the Giants have the perfect opportunity to see where they really stand with Ron Dayne during this preseason, but they have to give him a fair shot with the starters. That hasn't happened yet."

Notes:

The Panthers landed in New Jersey on Thursday night and walked into the biggest blackout in U.S. history.

The team's hotel in Teaneck was without power until 11:30 p.m. EDT.

Michael Strahan missed his second straight game with a broken toe.

Kerry Collins on his first 10 passes threw five times to Jeremy Shockey, all incompletes.
Shockey caught one for eight yards and fumbled, but it was ruled to be down by contact.
Jeremy Shockey left the game early in the second quarter after taking a shot to his ribs.

Ryan Clark started in place of SS Shaun Williams (shoulder).

Keith Washington, a nine-year veteran, started in place of Michael Strahan (toe) and had a couple QB pressures.

Kerry Collins avoided a safety when he ran for 9 yards.

Kerry Collins tied the game with 3:38 left in the 2nd quarter by completing all 6 of his passes on a 75-yard drive.

The game's biggest play was made by Panthers linebacker Will Witherspoon.
He beat tight end Marcellus Rivers on a blitz and hit Kerry Collins as he was throwing.
Safety Mike Minter caught the ball in the air and wasn't touched on his touchdown run.

Both teams will face each other again on Dec 28 at Giants Stadium.
