Notes:
"You
had to be in your seat early for the start of this game. Right
after the kickoff, Jets quarterback Chad Pennington threw a 79 yard touchdown
pass for 6 points. On the very next play, the Giants blocked the extra point.
Then Giants totally outplayed the Jets. For the rest of the half our defense had
the Jets three-and-out. Points were hard to come by though, because Lawrence Tynes
not missed on two field goal attempts of 40 and 43 yards. The Giants first points
came on a safety, and then Tynes connected on his next 40 yard shot. Eli Manning
was hot again tonight as he has been all preseason, and he closed out the half
with a touchdown pass to A Wright to put the Giants up 12-6.
The game changed
in the second half when different players took the field. The field goal jinx
stayed with the Giants when Josh Huston missed on his 43 yard chance, and the
Giants failed to score in the second half. The Jets came up with two touchdowns
to win this game 20-12. I don't think they'll be as lucky when we face them in
the regular season, and all the starters go head to head for the full game. BTW
- Don't forget that the last preseason game against New England isn't played on
the weekend. Don't miss it. It's on Thursday night."
Game Notes:
"Eli Manning was looking sharp
tonight, His passing accuracy was there and his stats would have looked even better
if they hadn't dropped a few passes on him that should have caught. Maybe if his
prime target, Plaxico Burress, was playing some of those drives wouldn't have
stalled or ended with missed field goals.
The announcer alluded to the fact
that Tom Coughlin decided that Plaxico couldn't play, even though he wanted to.
There had been some rumors that Plaxico was milking his sprained ankle injury
during training camp. Now I'm sure the 'new-improved' Tom Coughlin wouldn't be
playing any mind games with Burress right?
Brandon Jacobs was very effective
in his role, and he brings the kind of excitement to the offense that Jeremy Shockey
does when he has the ball. I don't want to get too hyped on what this offense
could be, because it's tough to keep key players on this team healthy. Is it too
much to hope that we'll get to see Jacobs, complimented by Shockey (tight left
hamstring) and Burress (sprained right ankle-flu) all together at the same time
for game one of the regular season?"
