Giants win the first preseason
game 31-16.
Eli Manning was 4-of-8 for 77 yards.
Jim Sorgi was 8-of-15
for 146 yards and 2 TDs.
Rhett Bomar was 6-of-7 for 67 yards and 1 TD and
he rushed for 22 yards on 2 carries.
Brandon Jacobs rushed for 2 yards on
4 carries and 1 TD.
Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for -1 yard on 3 carries and caught
2 passes for 58 yards.
Danny Ware rushed for 12 yards on 3 carries and caught
1 pass for 6 yards.
Andre Brown rushed for 26 yards on 5 carries.

Johnson rushed 2 yards on 3 carries.
Victor Cruz caught 6 passes for 145
yards and 3 TDs.
Derek Hagan caught 3 passes for 42 yards.

Notes:
"As memorable as the first
time being at the new stadium was, the first series by the Giants offense was
totally forgettable. It was 3 and out, and not because of the Jets defense. They
did it to themselves. The run by Ahmad Bradshaw put them back 4 yards, and the
ball bouncing off the hands of Ramses Barden, followed by a slip on the field
by Mario Manningham, ended that opening series fast.
Luckily, the Giants defense
came up big, just as they have been doing in training camp. Antrel Rolle was alert
and he grabbed a tipped ball and returned it all the way back to the Jets 1 yard
line. It did take three tries, but Brandon Jacobs ran it in and the Giants had
the first touchdown scored at the new stadium. Overall the first string offense
was not very productive and it was no fun seeing Eli Manning being banged around
like a pinball after whatever mismanaged play they were running. Eli came off
the field with blood gushing from his forehead.
The Giants fared much better
on offense in the second half and maybe discovered some rookie talent. Victor
Cruz stood out with his performance catching 6 passes for 145 yards and he had
3 touchdowns. Overall it was a lot more exciting than your usual preseason game
and despite all the green color, the Giants came away with the first victory in
the new stadium."
"Safety Antrel Rolle looked great intercepting and returning Mark Sanchez's pass on the Jets opening series, but let's not forget to credit the assist he got from safety Deon Grant who deflected it away from LaDainian Tomlinson. It looks like new defensive coordinator Perry Fewell has his guys looking out for opportunities. Overall they came up with three interceptions.
The Giants starting offense might have done better if Steve Smith was able to play in this game. Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden were the starting receivers. Also it didn't help the running game that Chris Snee and Rich Seubert were unavailable along with all the tight end injuries which includes missing tight end Kevin Boss.
It was unfortunate that Eli Manning got banged up in this game and they say it was mostly due to a botched play option that let the Jets get through to him. Chase Blackburn also had to leave the field and looks to have a sprained right knee.
Pierre-Paul played well considering he has just one season of college football under his belt , and he did manage to sack Mark Sanchez in his first real football action.
Rookie punter Matt Dodge is still a work in progress. The final numbers look good, but only because he lucked out a few times. He really has to work on his inconsistency, but they already know that and somebody has to replace Jeff Feagles."
