Game Notes:
"It was a great day to be at the stadium except for the results of the game, but first there was a great tribute dedicated to Michael Strahan getting his Pro Football Hall of Fame ring. The parade of former Giant players was stunning to see and then, just for the joy of football, everyone got to watch two great quarterbacks out on the field, Eli Manning and Andrew Luck. Luck has picked up right where Peyton Manning left off for the Indianapolis Colts.
His quarterback skills spelled bad news for the Giants by the end of the night, but for awhile the Colts had to chip away for their yardage. By the end of the first quarter, the score was only 3-0 in their favor, but at the end of the half the Colts held a 16-3 lead and cornerback Prince Amukamara had left the field. That was real bad news since our other top corner, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, is still not healthy enough to be in on every play.
Everyone was pumped up by the end of the halftime ceremony after Michael Strahan made his speech and I hoped that the players would be inspired as well. During the break the Giants had a chance to figure things out, but the defense started to crack and the Colts scored a touchdown right out of the gate. Manning then started his turn with a long pass to Odell Beckham Jr. and then another to Andre Williams to bring them down to the Colts one yard line. Williams ran it in for a touchdown and the Giants were still behind 13 points, 23-10. Manning's drive took only five plays and about two minutes so it looked like the offense was off to a good start. This was where the defense had to show they could stop the Colts.
Unfortunately, the Colts are the Colts and there was no stopping them. They went on to score two touchdowns in the third quarter and a field goal in the fourth before the Giants could score once again. The final result was a 40-24 loss and things don't look too good right now for the Giants. Even if they picked up some Michael Strahan inspiration from his words, they don't get to have him on the field."

Game Notes:
"Eli Manning really has his work cut out for him every game. With injuries sustained by his top running back Rashad Jennings and top receiver Victor Cruz, his big offensive weapons are rookies Andre Williams and Odell Beckham Jr. There's also not lots of experience in the hands of wide receiver Preston Parker and tight end Larry Donnell. Beckham did the best by far in this game with his 8 catches for 156 yards.
Without Jennings, running back Andre Williams got his third straight start tonight and the Colts shut him down. Take away Williams one long run of 9 yards, his other 11 carries netted only 13. All together he averaged less than 2 yards a carry, and it's too bad Williams can't get out of the backfield. Manning threw to Williams once and he took the ball 24 yards on their first successful touchdown drive of the night. That's the same drive that Beckham caught his longest catch of the night, a 59 yarder.
Peyton Hillis was actually the second leading receiver behind Beckham with 5 catches for 50 yards. After that, Rueben Randle pulled in just 4 of the 11 passes Manning threw his way. Larry Donnell caught 4 of 8 and had one touchdown, as well as Corey Washington, who caught 4 of 6. Preston Parker was disappointing with just one catch on 7 passes. Some of these incompletions seem to be the connection between Manning and his receivers, especially when he's trying to throw the ball downfield where many were overthrown.
The defense was working against a top ranked Colts offense and managed to slow them down for awhile, but Jason Pierre-Paul had missed some practice this week and was ineffective after having to leave the field once early on. Cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is playing with a continuing injury. When the other corner, Prince Amukama, went down that was the end of things and Cromartie was left playing more snaps than expected.
The injuries keep cutting into the Giants and it's becoming obvious that Eli Manning has no tools to work with. It doesn't get any easier for them from now on. The Giants will be working on a short week and they travel to play the defending Super Bowl Champions in Seattle, a place where the home team rarely loses"
