Game
Notes: "Football
is not an exact science. If it was it would be obvious that a team that starts
off scoring 23 points to none would obviously go on to slaughter the other team
for the rest of the game. I was never good at science and even I knew that was
not going to happen. So science be damned. As Giants fans we live in an NFL world
of fairy tales and exciting stories where the good guys usually win in the end.
To make that happen, my Giants went on to give up a field goal and three touchdowns
so they would be trailing going into the fourth quarter. This set the stage for
our good guy, Eli Manning, to once again bring his team from behind in that situation
and of course he does, but that story is getting kinda old. To keep everyone
awake, this time we have Eli imprisoned on the bench while the evil quarterback
prince, Tony Romo, has a chance to do the same for his fans with 44 seconds left.
He, having failed them earlier on with no less than four interceptions, relishes
the opportunity with his evil grin. Romo even succeeds in this task with a 37
yard go-ahead touchdown pass to Dez Bryant and truly all seemed to be lost, but
Bryant's hand had touched down on some evil white line soil. The 'watchers
in the upper regions' were displeased and that touchdown was negated by all. We
happily turned the page, but alas there were still ten seconds left! We're on
the edge of our seats as we allow Romo three more opportunities which happily
all fall short. So thankfully the Giants 6-2 kingdom was saved at least until
the next time we open our book to find the evil Big Ben trying to storm our castle
next Sunday. Oh no, what evil will befall us this time?"
Game
Notes: "We were all sneaking peeks
at the weather here at home, but the Giants brought some of the storm power with
them to Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, at least for the first part of the game
where they had them on their heels by scoring five times in a row for a 23-0 lead.
The Cowboys came back with a touchdown and field goal to end the half, but with
the score 23-10 it looked like the Giants would be able to hold their own. In
the end the Giants offense never seemed to get on track, scoring field goals instead
of touchdowns. They managed over 100 yards rushing, but take away two long plays
and the average per attempt was not that great. Eli Manning completed just barely
over half the passes to his receivers and he hit none for a touchdown and threw
one interception. The defense, despite scoring a touchdown off one of their
four interceptions and despite four sacks and a fumble recovery had to work their
butts off (the very same ones Jerry Jones had talked about) down to the very last
play of the game. Jones wasn't able to watch his team "beat the Giants’ asses",
as he had stated but he did work them hard. Overall the Cowboys ran 83 plays against
the Giants defense for 434 total yards. The defense maybe seemed to be good
against the run but you have to consider that the Cowboys top running back, DeMarco
Murray who burned them last time for 131 yards, was sidelined this game. One thing
is for sure, the Giants better watch their behinds when an eager Ben Roethlisberger
shows up next week." Scoring:
