Game
Notes: "Before
the first quarter was done the Giants were already up 21-0. They kept driving
the whole time and only stopped themselves once on their opening drive when Kevin
Boss fumbled after making a first down catch. Meanwhile Seattle couldn't move
the ball at all. That continued throughout the half which ended with the Giants
having a commanding 35-0 lead. The only hope the Seahawks had in that half
was when Leon Washington returned a kickoff to the Giants 32 yard line. A few
plays later, Seattle quarterback Charlie Whitehurst should have been able to celebrate
the first touchdown pass of his career, but his receiver let the perfectly thrown
ball get away into the hands of Terrell Thomas who ran it out of the endzone to
the Giants 27 yard line. Whitehurst's 'celebration' had to wait until the fourth
quarter when his touchdown toss resulted in what was to be the final score, a
41-7 loss. I'd say that the Giants broke the jinx of not being able to beat the
'12th man' at Qwest Field in a big way today."
Game Notes:
"The Giants drew a lot of praise
from the announcers with their 41-7 win over the Seahawks, but you have to factor
in that they were up against a team coming off a 33-3 loss just the week before
and now playing not only without their starting quarterback, but with a number
of substitutions on both offense and defense. The numbers from the game were
as to be expected with Seattle completing only 8 first downs to the Giants 30.
Seahawks quarterback Charlie Whitehurst was picked off twice and the Seahawks
never laid a glove on Eli Manning who threw for 3 touchdowns before he was yanked
from the game lest he maybe break a fingernail in the final quarter. Whitehurst
opened the fourth quarter with a three play drive that resulted in a touchdown.
The Seahawks had finally managed to put some points on the board. The Giants responded
with backup quarterback Sage Rosenfels feeding the ball to Danny Ware and Brandon
Jacobs for about 15 plays to chew up a full 13 minutes of game time. The Giants
could have scored, but with the ball at the Seahawks 6-yard line Rosenfels took
a knee three times before the Seahawks took over with 34 seconds left. After Marshawn
Lynch rushed and gained 4 yards to boost the team total yardage way up to 49 yards
on the day, everyone shook hands and went their separate ways. Next week it's
the Giants against the Cowboys and despite the records of either team, the competition
is always on in division games." Scoring:
