Game
Notes: "The Redskins were coming to
town with Robert Griffin III. It was a great game and I was on the edge of my
seat the whole time. On the opening drive the Giants blew a shot on a 4th and
1 at the Redskins 36 yard line when they pulled a false start penalty. They punted
and the Redskins got their shot starting at their 5 yard line. They controlled
the action for over 9 minutes mostly feeding the ball to running back Alfred Morris.
At one point the Redskins had a touchdown pass called back because of a penalty,
but they overcame that to get a first down on the Giants 3 yard line. Our defense
held and they came away with a field goal and the first score. The Giants took
over and scored a touchdown. The scoring continued as every time either offense
took the field, they put points on the board and by the end of the half it was
tied up 13-13. Both teams hit their defensive playbooks at halftime, because
all that continuous offense suddenly stopped. The Redskins and Giants failed to
score on their next possessions and that was good compared to how they did after
that. There were a few turnovers - Redskins fumble - Giants pass interception
- Redskins pass interception. That action took us to the fourth quarter where
the Giants scored and went ahead 20-13. The Redskins made a 4th and 2 and then
a 4th and 1 before they fumbled again. The Giants got the ball with a good chance
to put this game away , but Eli Manning threw an interception on the first play.
The Redskins hit on a 45 yard field goal a few plays later to make it a closer
20-16 The Giants went nowhere next and when Washington got the ball with 3
minutes left, I was hoping our defense would hold up since they had held them
to just one field goal in the whole second half. I knew I was fooling myself of
course as my Giants like to give me every thrill in the book. RG3 threw a ball
to Santana Moss for a 30 yard touchdown to take the lead 23-20. Eli Manning
had only a minute and a half left and after throwing an incomplete pass, his next
one to Victor Cruz went for a for a 77 yard touchdown. That still left enough
time for the Redskins to have one last shot, and on their third play, RG3 hit
Santana Moss for a first down, but old reliable Chase Blackburn caused him to
fumble and Jayron Hosley recovered the ball. I was totally 'thrilled-out' when
Manning took his kneel-down to end this game and I'm not looking forward to the
rematch."
Game
Notes: "The Giants couldn't crack
the Redskins rushing defense although they did manage two short yardage touchdowns,
one each by Andre Brown and Ahmad Bradshaw. The Redskins rushing game on the other
hand worked quite well. The Redskins average 166 rushing yards per game and they
racked up 248 against the Giants. Alfred Morris and Robert Griffin III did most
of the damage, although each of these rookie standouts fumbled the ball over once,
accounting for two of their teams four turnovers. Justin Tuck recorded his first
sack of the year today on Griffin and Osi Umenyiora and Jason Pierre-Paul got
to him as well. Overall the Redskins nailed the Giants for 480 yards in total
offense. Bradshaw and Brown had just 17 rushing plays as the best path to success
seemed to be relying on Eli Manning's arm against this defense. The Giants rushing
attack was averaging 125 yards per game and was on an upswing but they had just
64 today against the Redskins tough defense. The running backs combined for five
passes for 39 yards as the Giants tried to get the ball in their hands using other
methods. Manning threw for 337 yards in this game including the one 77 yard
touchdown toss to Victor Cruz, but also committed the teams only turnovers with
his interceptions. Once again Manning redeemed himself by bringing his team from
behind in the fourth quarter to get the go ahead score and win the game. Manning
has now connected with Cruz 50 times for 627 yards and seven touchdowns in seven
games. The Giants are now 1-2 in the
division and they travel south next to try and even up that record against the
Dallas Cowboys." Scoring:
