Notes: "The Giants weren't able to
stage a comeback from last week's loss. On offense they showed a weakness in the
passing game with Eli Manning making some wrong decisions and with the young group
of receivers showing that they are in fact sometimes just a young group of receivers
in every way. On defense they did a
much better job than last week. They had some success but found themselves in
poor field position a number of times thanks to usually 'old reliable' Jeff Feagles
having a real bad punting day. Even though they were ahead 14-10 at the half,
they were outscored in the third quarter 14-0, putting them behind 24-14 and could
come up with only a fieldgoal in the fourth. The
Giants, after winning the first five games, have now lost two in a row so they
better sharpen their pencils when they watch
tomorrow's Monday night matchup between the Redskins and Eagles, because next
week they'll be playing in Philadelphia. That's where they can show that they
have learned from their recent mistakes."
Game Notes:
"It was a back and fourth game
the whole first half and that was quite an improvement over last week where the
Giants could do nothing at all. Against New Orleans Eli Manning was charged with
an interception off his receiver's hands, and today things went his way at one
point when Cardinals cornerback Rodgers-Cromartie tipped the ball in the air and
Hakeem Nicks smartly caught it and took it all the way in for a touchdown. However
Manning was charged with 3 interceptions by the time this game was over. Brandon
Jacobs was very effective today, but Ahmad Bradshaw played at his worst with his
longest run of the day turning into a fumble recovered by the Cardinals and I
was hoping at various times not to see him on the field. Kevin Boss showed how
tough a player he can be when he was slammed hard after making a tough 25 yard
catch and Steve Smith made some big plays late in the game. I'll credit the defense
for being more Giant-like aggressive and they had Kurt Warner off his game a number
of times. Eli Manning showed that he can be way too much of a 'nerd', overthinking
things at the line of scrimmage and the Cardinals 'out-thunk' him quite a few
times in this game. Teams are learning to play Eli and he needs to be more of
a jock and just throw the ball sometimes and less of a thinker against some of
the brighter teams with winning records in the NFL. The Giants lost today but
things won't seem to be so bad with a win over the the Eagles next week, but of
course, the Giants have to actually do that." Early
