Game Notes:
"Wow that was awesome, San Francisco
scored one field goal and that was it. What? Yes what? That was it! The
Giants broke some records today - not theirs, but a few of the 49er records.
It turns out the 49ers, coming off two games where they outscored their
opponents 79-3 are not so scary after all when you put them up against
our NY Giants. They hadn't
given up a rushing touchdown in their last 12 home games. Ahmad Bradshaw
took care of that record. He also killed their record of not allowing
an 100 yard rusher in their last 23 games.
Mario Manningham caught the first pass of the game and I sort of felt
good for him. Of course I didn't want him to keep it up, and he caught
four more for a total of 72 yards. Randy Moss had his best game today
and he led the team with his two catches for 75 yards. Kyle Williams was
in there too, but none of the 49er receivers caught anything in the endzone.
Running back Frank Gore was their leading rusher with a measly 36 yards
and thanks to the Giants defense, Gore and Kendall Hunter were both strangers
to the endzone as well.
San Francisco was one of the top scoring teams in the league and all
they could come up with was a field goal. They can no longer claim they
feel that the Giants didn't beat them last time, that they beat themselves.
The Giants beat them soundly today and left no doubt in their minds. Nice
job Giants!"
Game Notes:
"As usual the Giants rose to the
occasion. Some of the 49er players said that they circled this date on
the schedule looking forward to playing the Giants csince they felt that
they should have won last year's championship playoff game. This was also
a home game and if they circle another one in the future, it will be a
reminder that they should just get out of town.
In that championship game they fought the Giants tooth and nail into overtime,
sacking Eli Manning six times. In this game they got none and 49er quarterback
Alex Smith was sacked five times, and subbed for at times by his backup
Colin Kaepernick. Maybe that was because Smith tossed three costly interceptions.
Overall Smith threw for 200 yards while completing 19 of his 30 passes
and Kaepernick had 82 yards on his 4 out of 7 completions and was sacked
once. Smith remembers two years ago when the fans were calling for his
backup at the time, David Carr. He had thrown 2 interceptions and fumbled
once, but at least had 3 touchdown in that loss to the Eagles. It will
be interesting to read the local papers tomorrow.
You figure the Giants can beat anyone with their impressive passing game,
but today it was time to show off their ground game. The 49ers were humbled,
finding that the Giants can be beat them any which way they decide to
do so. Ahmad Bradshaw didn't run for 200 yards and one touchdown as he
had last week. Running for 116 and one touchdown was enough. David Wilson
got more playing time and he ran for 35 yards on 5 carries against the
49ers number one ranked rushing defense. The Giants look like they are
ready to take on their next two upcoming games against division rivals
Washington and Dallas."
