Game Notes:
"It was great to see the
Giants win their fourth straight at home. They didn't have that many here
the whole last season. Still, I was hoping for more of a buffer. Sure
I was feeling good when the Giants were up 14-3 over a weaker San Francisco
team, but who was I fooling? Before you knew it, the score was 17-10,
and then 24-17. They never seemed able to really distance themselves from
a team that kept shooting itself in the foot with one penalty after another.
We also had our share of them.
Sure it ended up better than last week, and Brandon Jacobs and Michael
Johnson gave us some exciting plays. The defense held their top rusher
Frank Gore to 11 yards rushing on 11 carries, but what happens when they
go up against a tougher team like our NFC East competition or the Steelers
next week? Like us Pittsburgh is 5-1 and just today they killed Cincinnati,
a team we had trouble with, 38-10. I'm hoping the Giants can figure a
way to pick things up a few notches before we start playing these guys."
Game Notes:
"Ok,
so Brandon Jacobs scored two
rushing touchdowns and Plaxico Burress scored another. The defense came
away with six sacks and three turnovers, after it being noted that they
were the ones with the fewest takeaways in the NFL this season. It all
sounds good until you look at the level of the competition. San Francisco's
quarterback has had only seven career starts. They are a team that won
only 5 games last year and with their current record at 2-5, it looks
like their head coach might not finish out the season.
Yes, great that the Giants won this game, but to me it seems they still
have a few things to straighten out. The biggest issue I see is the Manning
to Burress connection. Is there one, or does it just come and go? Plaxico
Burress seemed to tune out this game for awhile after drawing a pass-interference
call. He didn't seem to go all out and didn't even raise his arms up to
try and catch a pass from Eli in the endzone on a third and goal. Maybe
he'll be more into it when he faces Ben Roethlisberger and his old Pittsburgh
team next week."
