Game
Notes: "This was a tough game
to sit through. At the end of the half you were happy just that the Giants were
tied at 14-14. The Seahawks were bringing it and really, the Giants should have
known what was coming. Their offense used the no huddle that worked so well for
them last week, and the Giants couldn't stop them. Except for the Seahawks making
so many mistakes, this would have been a disaster by the end of the half. Aside
from being a fan, you had to figure that the Giants were the better team and that
they would come back in the second half to dominate this game. That certainly
seemed more likely when Seahawks starting quarterback Tarvaris Jackson injured
himself on a running play in the third quarter. Instead the Giants continued to
make their own mistakes that included getting hit for a safety to let Seattle
take the a 16-14 lead. The fourth quarter was a real wild one with the score
switching back from the Giants to Seattle twice as Seattle's backup quarterback
Charlie Whitehurst improved on his game, and Giants receiver Victor Cruz gave
and then took away. It came down to the Giants being down 29-25 with 1:27 to go,
having a first and ten at the Seahawks 10 yard line and Manning hitting Cruz with
a pass at the six yard line that he tried to pull in like he did with an earlier
sensational catch. This one ended up in the hands of a defender who took it 94
yards past the Giants goal line for the final score of 36-25. Cruz makes big plays
and is a big fan favorite and for the second week in a row he'll have a lot of
reporters by his locker asking questions. This week will be worse because of the
loss. This Giants team has to get their act together before they play Buffalo
next week."
Game Notes:
"At the end of the half the Giants found
themselves lucky to be in this game with anything like a tie score. They were
zero and five on third downs. They averaged just 2.5 yards on 14 rushing plays
for a grand total of 35 yards. Luckily, Eli Manning had completed 10 of his 15
passes for 147 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. The Giants can't
run and now they can't hide that any longer. It doesn't matter what running back
you put on the field, it just doesn't work. They finished this game with 69 rushing
yards. With Brandon Jacobs out, Ahmad Bradshaw had most of the workload and he
finished with 17 carries for 58 yards for a 3.4 average. Take away his early 12
yard run and you have the Giants without any kind of running game they can count
on. They finished with making just one of their 12 third down attempts. On
defense the Giants once again showed they can get a pass rush going, but when
it doesn't happen, the secondary gets hit. Tarvaris Jackson and backup Charlie
Whitehurst combined for 26 completions on 41 attempts for 279 yards, 2 touchdowns
and 1 interception. Whitehurst actually did better than Jackson against the Giants
defense and there is no way that should have happened. Other factors were that
the Seahawks made three turnovers in the first half to the Giants two, but the
Seahawks got their act together and made no more. The Giants added three more.
Also the Giants were without three starters. DE Justin Tuck - would have mattered,
RB Brandon Jacobs - would not have mattered, and center David Baas - would have
mattered. On another note, I don't like to see Aaron Ross out there trying to
return punts. The Giants benefited today from his interception and coverage in
general, and I'd hate to see the already suspect secondary lose him to an injury."

now has the edge with two wins to Tom Coughlin's one. Giants
Osi Umenyiora moved past Keith Hamilton on the all time sack list with 63.5 sacks. That
puts him in fourth place. Eli
Manning threw a career-high 420 yards and 3 touchdowns, completing 24 of 39 passes.
Eli Manning also threw 3 interceptions and lost a fumble. Seahawks
scored a touchdown for the first time this season in the first quarter. It
