Giants
get their first road win this season over the Texans 34-10.
Eli Manning was 27-of-42 for 297 yards and 3 TDs and 2 INTs. Ahmad Bradshaw
rushed for 67 yards on 10 carries and caught 3 passes for 22 yards. Brandon
Jacobs rushed for 41 yards and 1 TD on 6 carries. Hakeem Nicks caught 12 passes
for 130 yards and 2 TDs. Steve Smith caught 6 passes for 89 yards and 1TD. Kevin
Boss caught 4 passes for 40 yards. Travis Beckum caught 1 pass for 8 yards. Ramses
Barden caught 1 pass for 8 yards. Osi Umenyiora had 2 sacks. Justin Tuck
had 1 sack. Lawrence Tynes kicked 45, and 42 yard field goals. Game
Notes: "The Giants were sack
happy last week and today they were run-stop happy. Whatever it takes, this Giants
defensive unit seem to have gotten it. Eli Manning starred with his passing game
in the first half and then seemed to lose it in the third quarter for some reason.
He made two back to back ill advised passes that resulted in interceptions. Luckily
the Giants were well ahead at that point and thanks to our defense, the Texans
were only able to capitalize on one of the interceptions for their first touchdown
of the game, by none other than former Giant Derrick Ward. The Giants responded
with a drive that resulted in a field goal to make the score 27-10 and you kind
of felt the way this game was playing out that they weren't going to blow it with
not much than one quarter left. Eli Manning led the Giants to another touchdown
and the Texans were able to come up with only one first down in the fourth quarter.
The defense looks to have mastered Perry
Fewell's system, and the offense has started to click so I'm really looking forward
to our next game against Detroit.
Game
Notes: "The
Texans have been averaging 24 points per game and the Giants held them to just
10. That would be enough but it was in the manner that they accomplished it that
makes it a stand out so much more. On the heels of a clearly dominating win over
the Chicago Bears, they held the leading rusher in the NFL, Arian Foster, to just
25 yards on 11 carries and he had to be thankful that he managed to break one
for 9 yards or his average would have been much worse than 2.2 yards a carry he
recorded. On offense, the Giants
were easily able to score on a team that has
given up at least three touchdowns in each game, even though their star linebacker
Brian Cushing, was back for today’s game. He did make four solo tackles. The defense
has put together impressive back to back games. The Giants had committed 13
turnovers to date to lead the league in that area, and Eli Manning's ill advised
throws today added two more. He's now on the hook for 12 turnovers and 8 interceptions
with 4 lost fumbles. Admittedly four of the interceptions weren't his fault, but
he has to stop trying to do too much when it isn't necessary like he did in today's
game. Scoring:
