Game Notes:
"The Giants were on a long three
game road trip so the home fans haven't seen them play in person since
their opening day back on September 13. They won that game against Washington
and then all the rest on the road in spectacular fashion. I guess they
figured the home crowd should see what they've been dishing out around
the league first hand so we all got treated today to a performance of
44 points scored against 7 given up. The offense was unstoppable and the
defense stopped just about everything, because the Raiders were lucky
to come away with those 7 points. A ref blew a quick whistle and that
erased a Giants fumble recovery that was returned about 90 yards into
the endzone. Instead the touchdown is called back and the Raiders got
the ball at the Giants 15 yard line.
Anyway, what can you say about a defense that keeps coming up with turnovers?
They caused three fumbles on three of their six sacks today. Search for
more words, because what can you say about an offense that scores touchdowns
on their first four drives? Now there's some bad news. The Giants that
you love to see play are already leaving town again. They have a tough
game coming up next week against the New Orleans Saints, and it would
have been great if we could see them play it here at Giants Stadium. Oh
well, I guess it's back to the TV set."
Game Notes:
"The Giants were way too
much for the Oakland Raiders. All
this week the concern was whether Eli Manning would be able to play or
not. Well, he came to play and he did so in big fashion. Throwing only
10 passes in the slightly less than two quarters he played, he missed
on just two, and averaged over 20 yards a completion and 2 touchdowns.
The score being 28-0, David Carr came in for Manning near the end of the
half and he added his own touch, which was running the ball four times
for 27 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for 110 yards on 11 carries (that's a 10 yards per
carry average) and scoring two touchdowns wasn't enough for him. He also
threw in one catch that he took for 55 yards. Steve Smith, over these
first five games, has been simply amazing and he was the leading receiver
again today with his three catches for 70 yards. Once again the Giants
defense dominated the opposing team. The Raiders were held to just seven
first downs. How much of this success can carry over to next week when
the Giants face much stiffer competition will be interesting to see."
