Game Notes:
"It wasn't the kind of
game I was expecting to see. Even though the Giants were losing by 3 points
at the end of the quarter, and then still by 3 points at the end of the
half, you kind of got the feeling that they were just off their game and
would turn things around in the second half. I mean, look at how many
dumb penalties the Browns were making. Sooner or later that should catch
up with them right? Somehow it never did, and our defense was always on
their heels. Our offense was just as bad when it came to finishing off
drives. Any good that was done was erased by interceptions.
Eli Manning threw three of them, and suddenly the Browns lead grew, and
as things progressed, a close game turned into a game that couldn't be
won as time wound down. So the Browns went off singing "Monday Monday,
so good to me, Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would be.", and
the Giants head back home to the same tune, "Monday Monday, can't
trust that day, Monday Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way."
Luckily the Giants don't have any more Monday night games this season."
Game Notes:
"Well
you can't win them all. Just ask the 2007 New England Patriots, and now
the 2008 NY Giants. It sure would have been nice to be 5-0,
but for that you need some offense or some defense, and the Giants had
very little tonight. The Browns made lots of mistakes, but they recovered
well, almost as if they knew what the Giants were coming at them with.
A few weeks back, defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo pointed out that
there were plays where a player was giving away his intentions based on
a stance or a position.
He also said that the Giants weren't putting as much pressure on opposing
quarterbacks as they were at the end of the 2007 season. Antonio Pierce
dismissed some of the talk saying he wasn't sure other quarterbacks would
be able to make the reads and then the plays that Cincinnati's Carson
Palmer executed in their game against the Giants. Well Browns quarterback
Derek Anderson sure looked damn good tonight. I'd say that the Browns
used their bye week wisely and really studied up on the Giants for this
game and it paid off for them big-time."
