Game
Notes: "If
you're a season ticket holder, the Giant-Eagle game is one you don't give up.
From 56 points down to 3, the Giants brought the high flying Eagles down to Earth.
The Eagles put up 56 points last week against Detroit and they probably thought
they could do a lot better than the 17 points the Redskins got last week against
the Giants. In his last game, Donovan McNabb was throwing passes all over the
field, but he couldn't find a way to crack the Giants coverage on his receivers.
Nor did he have much time to try, with the way the Giants were on him to the tune
of 12 sacks. Rookie Aaron Ross was a starter for the first time today and he played
his position well. Eli Manning continued his season long strong performance
against an Eagles defense that really never gives up. His only mistake was on
a pass to Jeremy Shockey who slipped on the play and it went for an interception.
Derrick Ward had another good game, and the offense got some points up but they
could have done better on third down plays. After awhile, you almost didn't care,
because you were looking forward to seeing the Giants defense on the field because
of the great plays they were making. The fans loved it and they rocked the stadium
tonight. Nothing gets them going more than great Giants defense, and the Giants
defense is back!"
Game
Notes: "Michael Strahan usually
does well against the Eagles and Donovan McNabb, and now his teammates are inheriting
that trait. Strahan chose this game break his tie with Lawrence Taylor for the
most sacks and now he has 133 1/2. Osi Umenyiora hasn't played as long, but he
was doing his best to catch up fast. He turned in 6 sacks tonight for a Giants
team record. Donovan McNabb didn't
have Brian Westbrook in the lineup, but you can't say that was what made all the
difference. Correll Buckhalter was pretty effective with his 103 rushing yards
on 17 carries, in addition to his 4 catches for 35 yards. Things were looking
pretty bad two weeks ago. The defense under new coordinator Steve
Spagnuolo looked like a mess, but now the Giants
are 2-2, and 2-1 against division teams. They don't play another divisional game
until Nov. 11 in their rematch against Dallas. They face four teams with poor
records and get a bye week before that happens." Early

Notes:
Giants Michael Strahan's sack gave him 133
1/2, breaking Lawrence Taylor's franchise record. Strahan has 21.5 sacks against
Philadelphia, the most against any opponent. He has 12.5 sacks on Donovan
McNabb, his highest total against any quarterback. Osi
Umenyiora became the fourth NFL player with 6 or more sacks in a game, the first
since Derrick Thomas of the Chiefs had six against the Raiders in 1998.
Giants
have not allowed a touchdown in six consecutive quarters. This
is the fifth time a team had 12 sacks. The last was Dallas against the Houston
Oilers on Sept. 29, 1985. Plaxico
Burress has caught at least one touchdown pass in each game this season. The
last time the Giants played a team coming off a 50+ point performance they shut
them out. That was two years ago when they beat the Washington Redskins, 36-0,
one week after they had scored 52 points. Eagles
David Akers missed a 42-yard field goal and made a 53-yarder later in the game. Akers
is now 5-for-11 in his career at Giants Stadium (46 percent). He's made 84
percent of his field goals in all other stadiums (190 for 227). Eagles
had 15 penalties for 132 yards. Next
