Game Notes:
"Oops, I did it again. I played with your heart, got lost in the game'. Come on Eli Manning. What are you doing to me and a million other fans? Once again I felt good with the Giants having a nice lead going into the fourth quarter and once again Eli Manning let me down. Britney Spears released that silly song a long time ago and it just came into my mind when I saw Manning turn the ball over down near the Falcons goal line.
Before I get into all that let me just say it was a thrill for anyone who was able to be at the stadium today. You got to see some of your all time NY Giants greats out there on the field.
At halftime the Giants were celebrating the 25th Anniversary of winning Super Bowl XXV in 1990. There was Jeff Hostleder, Mark Bavaro, Lawrence Taylor and Bill Parcells carrying the Trophy. Wow! 'Just give me some of that old rock and roll. I reminisce about the days of old.' Those guys used to rock it. OK, enough with the music references. I guess I'm still a little unsettled with what I experienced today.
The Giants held the lead 13-10 going into that celebration and at least that was nice. In the third quarter they pushed it to 20-10 and had a chance to get more down at the Falcons 8 yard line. Manning was sacked from behind and fumbled the ball over. My heart sank along with all the other fans because you almost had the feeling that this was a turning point.
The Falcons worked their way down the field and got a touchdown and that made the score 20-17. The Giants couldn't come up with anything in the fourth quarter and when the Falcons scored another touchdown they had the lead with less than 2 minutes left. When the Giants went for it on a 4th and 10 Preston Parker dropped it once again, and the game was basically over.
All the fans can do is hope that the Giants figure a few things out before they take to their MetLife seats on Thursday night to watch the Giants play the Redskins.

Game Notes:
"Once again the Giants let a game slip away. To think, the Giants could be 2-0 in the division and instead they are at the bottom with the Eagles with an 0-2 record. Another thing both these teams have in common is living with the results of trying to defend against Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones. He burnt the Eagles in their game last week with nine receptions for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Today Jones hit the Giants for 135 yards on 13 receptions and no touchdowns. However, Jones had a 38 yard touchdown catch called back, and even though the Giants just saw it, Matt Ryan ran the same play again. This time it was only good for 37 yards so Jones fell one yard short of getting his touchdown on the day. Devonta Freeman ran it in for him two plays later and got the credit for the go ahead score for Atlanta.
The Giants needed a touchdown and Eli Manning got to the 50 yard line with about one minute left. He threw incomplete to Larry Donnell, incomplete to Jerome Cunningham, incomplete to Preston Parker, and then incomplete to Parker again, and that was the game.
Come on Giants receivers, can't you hang onto the ball? They were targeted by Manning 30 times and completions totaled 17. Odell Beckham Jr., with coverage all over him, pulled in 7 out of 12 for 146 yards and 1 touchdown. The others totaled 58 yards with their 10 completions.
By comparison the running backs were 10 out of 10 on Manning's passes for 88 yards. Maybe with the exception of Beckham, they should swap these two groups, because in their primary role the running game was dismal. The running backs totaled 74 yards on 21 carries, and that was only because Andre Williams burst free one time for 35 yards, for nearly half of that total. All in all, 14 of their runs were for 2 yards or less, or worse, negative yardage.
The Giants time of possession was just 22:50 last week and today it improved to 28:35. That's a plus, but it could head back the other way if they can't handle the Redskins dominating running attack Thursday night.
