Game
Notes: "The Giants offense
got off to a real slow start. You were so focused on how inconsistent they were
playing that you almost forgot that our defense had held the Falcons high powered
offense scoreless. Eli
Manning gave up 2 points on a safety to start their first drive in the second
quarter, but the next drive was a different story. Manning took off on 3rd and
short for 14 yards, and that must have gotten Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw
psyched because suddenly they were able to run the ball much better. Jacobs
helped get the ball downfield on that drive with a nice 34 yard run and Manning
capped it off with a 4 yard touchdown pass to Hakeem Nicks for the Giants first
score of the game. They were up 7-2 at the half and with the defense controlling
Atlanta throughout the game, the offense started to pick up the pace. Manning
added two more touchdowns, and with one Lawrence Tynes field goal the final score
was 24-2. It would be exciting to see the next game played here, but now the Giants
take to the road and play at Green Bay."
Game Notes:
"On defense you really have to hand it
to this group. The Falcons routinely score an average of 25 points a game and
the defense allowed them none. It's known that the Giants have a great pass rush,
but the Falcons learned not to try them on 4th and short unless you can really
back it up. Atlanta couldn't, and in two attempts this game they failed. That
led to the Giants defense holding them scoreless when they were on the field.
This is coming off back to back wins over the Jets and Cowboys where each of those
teams were held to 14 points. On
offense the Giants looked like two different teams going from the first half to
the second. They'll need to bring that second half team with them to Green Bay.
If you remember the Giants lost a close one to Aaron Rodgers and his teammates
38-35 last month here at home. I'd like to think that the defense will do much
better than before, but Eli Manning's group had better not snooze in the first
half of that game like they did today."
