Game Notes:
"The Giants probably would have won this game if they hadn't pulled a number of players in the second half. They still came close, but the real goal here was to carry momentum and get some of that on-track feeling like last year going into the postseason games. With Derrick Ward getting his record and with a lot of backup players getting into the mix with some real playing time, I think they accomplished those goals.
It felt strange to see someone other than Eli Manning quarterbacking the team, but David Carr kept the level of play up when he was in charge for the second half. The other goal was to keep everyone healthy and that worked for the most part. Unfortunately, Sam Madison fractured his ankle in this game, and you hate to see anyone miss out on the playoffs after being involved all year long, but that could be it for him."

Game Notes:
"Derrick Ward got the 52 yards he needed to gain 1,000 yards this season. The Vikings defense which usually allows 73 rushing yards per game allowed him to get 77 on his 15 carries before he left the game. Ahmad Bradshaw added 28 yards on his 10 carries. The Vikings are less effective playing without defensive tackle Pat Williams. David Carr played well filling in for Eli Manning and he led the Giants to the only touchdown they scored this game when he hit Domenik Hixon with a 23 yard pass.
On defense, the Giants gave up another big touchdown run for the fourth game straight. This time it was to Adrian Peterson who leads the NFL in rushing yards. The Giants claimed they worked on big-play prevention this week, but Tarvaris Jackson also got them with a 54 yard touchdown pass. To be fair, that last one was in the fourth quarter with second stringers playing. The Vikings also caught a break with the Giants having four starters out, on the inactive list: Brandon Jacobs, Kevin Boss, defensive tackle Barry Cofield and cornerback Aaron Ross. Look for a well rested Giants team ready to go at it after their one week rest in the playoffs."

Giants and Dolphins set an NFL record for the fewest turnovers in a season - 13. That's one fewer than the previous NFL record set by the Giants in their Super Bowl XXV season of 1990.

Giants John Carney kicked four field goals, and finished up 35-of-38 for the year.
He had his first non-blocked miss from 48 yards with 3:22 to go and would have forced the Vikings to go for a TD rather than the field goal at the end.

Minnesota will host the Eagles this weekend.
If Philadelphia wins, the Eagles will play at Giants Stadium for the second round.
If Minnesota wins, the Giants would play the winner of the Cardinals - Falcons game.
