Game Notes:
"Like all the Giants fans I was wondering who would step up with Odell Beckham Jr. out for this game serving his suspension. By the end of the first half, it looked like no one would. The Giants were down 19-3 and Eli Manning had already thrown two interceptions. We all know that Beckham is a star player, but aren't our others at least average? Rueben Randle did catch a touchdown pass, but that wasn't until near the end of the third quarter. That made the score 32-10 before the Vikings added two more touchdowns and a field goal in the fourth quarter.
If you were still watching the game you got to see backup quarterback Ryan Nassib come in to play for Manning. Nassib's either very good, the Vikings didn't know what to expect, or maybe they didn't care much with 3:30 left on the clock. After Orleans Darkwa ran the ball once for nine yards, Nassib completed five straight passes, and his last one was a touchdown to Myles White. He made it look easy, but Nassib never got his hands on the ball again as the Vikings ran out the clock. The final score was a horrible 49-17 and the only good news for the Giants is that Beckham will be back for the next game we play with the Eagles coming to town."

Game Notes:
"The Giants slim playoff hopes were eliminated yesterday when the Redskins took the NFC East division title by beating the Eagles 38-24 in Philadelphia. The best the Giants could have hoped to do tonight with a win would be giving themselves a chance to at least finish the season with an 8-8 record. That's not the greatest and it's out of reach now, but it would be an improvement over last season's 6-10 and that's where it looks like they're headed if they continue to play as they did in this game.
The Vikings knew for sure coming into this game that they could clinch a playoff spot with a win, and that win or lose they would be playing against Green Bay next week for the NFC North title. That was enough incentive and there was no let down in the way they played all four quarters. They got caught short one time when Rashad Jennings turned a short screen pass into a 50 yard gain. They also allowed one big passing play by Eli Manning when he hit
Rueben Randle for a 72 yard touchdown.
Overall without Beckham, the passing game disappeared.
Randle was targeted five times and caught two, one for that big play and the other for 8 yards. Hakeem Nicks caught one pass out of three for 4 yards.
Dwayne Harris, nursing a strained left shoulder, was off his game from the start. Harris mishandled punt returns, fumbled once, and as a receiver he bounced the ball up in the air for Eli Manning's first interception of the game while catching just one pass for 6 yards. Shane Vereen was out there as the kickoff returner.
Rashad Jennings was able to run the ball, averaging 5.3 yards a carry for 74 yards, but overall the Giants made just one first down out of eleven third down attempts and failed on two fourth down tries. Some of the ineffectiveness can be placed squarely on the Giants. Some was the result of the Vikings fielding a strong team thanks to some defensive players returning from injuries. The Giants next game will be against the Eagles. The winner will finish in second place in the division, and the loser will be in third and
will play in London next year."
