Game
Notes: "The Rams defense has
been hard to score on and they're very proud of that. Odell Beckham Jr. ruined
their whole day right from the start in the first quarter. Rookie running back
Orleans Darkwa joined in, and then Rueben Randle and Beckham once again, scoring
a total of four touchdowns against a defense that hadn't allowed any in the last
three games. The traveling Giants were the underdogs, but they didn't play
that way at all. The Giants took the lead from the start and had it for the whole
game. The Rams seemed to get their thrills by targeting Beckham, but they were
never able to stop him or Rueben Randle. I'd say Beckham got the last laugh with
his 148 yards and two touchdowns. It was great to see the team play this way
so late at the end of a season and you have to give credit to Tom Coughlin and
his coaching staff, getting the group of young players and rookies to do so well.
The Eagles are up next and it would be a really nice way to wrap up the season
with a win over a division team so many thought was the best of our group just
a few weeks ago."
Game Notes:
"The Giants won and both teams certainly gave it their all. It was maybe
too much 'all' as to how their head coaches might see things. The Rams certainly
were out of line in the way they went after Odell Beckham Jr. Later head coach
Jeff Fisher acknowledged that some of his players were displeased with Beckham
and some of the things he said about breaking records against his defense. Beckham
did so and later pushing and shoving led to fights. The bottom line though is
that the Giants won this game. Does it really matter at this point in the season
when both teams are going nowhere? Sure it does. Neither team can grab back those
losses they maybe could have won, but both played hard and wanted to make a statement
as to what might have been if only they had done better all along the way. It
was the Rams final home game, fan appreciation day, and emotions ran high as their
'dream' of possibly finishing .500 for the first time since 2006 went out the
window with this loss to the Giants. The Rams now end up with yet another losing
season and can be no better than 7-9, matching their record the past two seasons.
To even achieve that would require a win next week in Seattle, which is unlikely
to happen. The Giants were hardly calm spirits in a game where they had two
players ejected. They did however stay disciplined and focused enough for Eli
Manning to throw for almost 400 yards (391), had a 100-yard rusher (Andre Williams),
and two 100-yard receivers (Beckham and Rueben Randle), who both pulled in at
least one touchdown. Next Sunday the Giants will face the Eagles at MetLife
Stadium. Once again there are no playoff hopes for either team. The Giants have
been living with that reality for awhile now and the Eagles just today, after
losing to the Redskins on Saturday, and then seeing the Dallas Cowboys destroy
the Indianapolis Colts. Still, expect to see the best from these NFC East teams
in the final game of the season."
