Giants beat the Bills 38-21. Eli Manning was 7-of-15 for 111 yards, with 2
interceptions. Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for 151 yards on 17 carries and 1 touchdown. Brandon
Jacobs rushed for 145 yards on 24 carries and and 2 touchdowns. Amani Toomer
caught 5 passes for 99 yards. Plaxico Burress and Brandon Jacobs each caught
1 pass for 6 yards. Kawika Mitchell had 2 sacks and Osi Umenyiora had 1 sack. Lawrence
Tynes kicked a 42 yard field goal.
Game
Notes: "The game started with Tynes
kicking the ball out of bounds, so the Bills got to start at their own 40 yard
line. The Giants couldn't stop the Bills at all in the first quarter. They faced
only one third down play on their two scoring drives. They nailed that one for
a 42 yard pass play to the Giants 4 yard line and scored on the next play. Meanwhile
the Giants offense went three-and-out and then managed
their only first down play of the quarter when Amani Toomer dove for the ball
and clutched it for a 39 yard completion. That drive ended three plays later when
the ball slipped out of Eli Manning's hand on a third and nine and they punted.
The quarter ended with the Bills up 14-0 and the Giants playing about as poorly
as they could on both offense and defense. The only ray of hope was that the
defense almost nailed Bills quarterback Trent Edwards twice, and right before
he made two of his big plays. They started catching up with him in the second
quarter and it lasted for the rest of the game. On offense Amani Toomer kept coming
through with first down catches, Brandon Jacobs got the running game going and
when he was hurt Ahmad Bradshaw kept it going. I was shocked when Jacobs came
back in later in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter they let Bradshaw carry
the load and he came through with an 88 yard run for a touchdown, the longest
run in the NFL this season."
Game
Notes: "What can you say about
a game where there were nine fumbles? Well for sure, the weather conditions weren't
that good. The Giants committed five of those fumbles, all by Eli Manning, and
he lost two of them, but they still managed to win the game. That's because interceptions
count too, and Manning threw only two of those compared to the Bills rookie quarterback
Trent Edwards who had three. It especially hurt the Bills chances when two were
returned for touchdowns. Really though, Manning has to pick up his game. Going
7-of-15 for 111 yards with 2 interceptions and two lost fumbles just won't do
it, and even the biggest optimist around isn't going to point out that it was
an improvement over last week's game when he was 18-of-52 for 184 yards. Next
week with the playoffs locked up, I'd expect to see Manning playing most of the
game for some much needed practice. Plaxico starting the game and leaving after
making maybe just one catch to rest his ankle. Sinorice Moss, who had 5 receptions
for 53 yards last week, should see a lot of playing time, as well as Steve Smith
who, true to form, had a very catchable ball bounce off his finger tips at the
Buffalo 9 yard line. It's time to see what some of these players can really do,
and Manning's no exception." Early
