Game
Notes: "It was a little cold
and roomy at Giants Stadium if you know what I mean. You had to be a real Giants
fan to be there and if you were, I'm proud of you. We knew the Seahawks would
be a tough team to beat so expectations were not high, but still at the end of
the first quarter the Giants were down just 3-0. The offense was going nowhere,
but the defense was doing a decent job against a really good opponent. There's
still a limit on what any defense can do if they're constantly brought back on
to the field though and by the end of the half the score was 13-0 in favor of
the Seahawks. The game moved on and I see all these guys trying to make things
happen. Victor Cruz took a real big hit in the fourth quarter that took him out
of the game. It was a shame that his courageous completion was overruled because
he really gave it his all on that play trying to make something happen. I wish
the Giants could have put some points up on the board today and they came close,
but the level of competition was just too much. The Seahawks are a real powerhouse
and look like they could be one of the teams that will be playing here in the
Super Bowl in February. I will have
to say I did not see any 'quit' on this Giants team today, and that's why fans
come out to these games, no matter what, to support them."
Game Notes:
"The Giants defense held up their end of the bargain. They allowed the Seahawks
23 points when their usual average is 27.5. This was an especially good job considering
that the Seahawks had a number of extra opportunities with the Giants offense
turning over the ball five times. We will disallow Eli Manning's Hail Mary on
the final play of the half because they didn't have to take the field after that.
You could call a 13-0 score at the end of the first half a good day considering
how the Giants have been playing lately. By the end of the first half, the Giants
had only two first downs and their defense was being overworked. Admittedly
the Giants faced a tough task going
up against the Seahawks. They're a top notch team with their pass defense and
they are the second best ranked team at keeping points from being scored on them.
They proved that by continuing to shut out the Giants in the second half. The
Giants almost had a shot, but Eli Manning was intercepted in the endzone for the
fifth time in the game in the fourth quarter. They spared Manning any further
embarrassment by substituting Curtis Painter in
his spot for the final plays. Overall what did you expect anyway with this matchup,
and general manager Jerry Reese will have a lot to account for on how he figured
things would work out for the offensive line this year."
