Notes:
"I
was really looking forward to this game. It's hard to figure how the playoffs
work out, and it might be the last game played at Giants Stadium this year. It
certainly started out fine with the Giants taking their close 7-3 lead to 24-3
at the half. All they had to do for the second half was play even while chewing
up the clock. Even if the Eagles scored two more touchdowns over that, it wouldn't
matter. They took it to 31-10 in the fourth quarter and there was only about eight
and a half minutes left to play.
No one in the stadium thought the Eagles
could tie it up at this point, but surprise, they did. They even managed to steal
the game away because the Giants allowed them to score four straight touchdowns.
I don't even know what to say at this point except that being a long time Giants
fan, I know they never like to do it the easy way. We're destined to fight it
out with the Eagles one more time in the playoffs, because that's how these things
play out (I hope)."
Game Notes:
"The
Giants had this game in hand and then let it slip away. I thought it was cheesy
of Tom Coughlin to jump all over Matt Dodge at the end of the game when it was
over and done with. He didn't single-handedly blow this game and what do you want
him to say at that point? Would he suddenly have some kind of explanation that
Coughlin would suddenly be happy to hear and walk away with smiling? There's plenty
of time to review the fact that the Giants gave up four touchdowns halfway through
the fourth quarter and it's not all on the defense or special teams unit.
The offense should have been able to to come up with some time killing drives
even if they came up with zero points. You have to put this one on the offensive
and defensive coordinators and their play calling. On offense it seems that when
Brandon Jacobs is on the field the Giants win. On defense when Michael Vick is
under pressure he folds. Not much of that happened in the fourth quarter and the
Eagles pulled off another 'Miracle at the Meadowlands'. The only good news is
that the Giants are still not out of it. There's Green Bay and Washington coming
up next."
