Game
Notes: "It was some show the
Giants put on against Washington tonight. Not only did they score on the opening
drive of the game, but they controlled the whole first quarter, taking over nine
minutes and 16 plays to chew up the 80 yards they needed for a touchdown. Then
when the Redskins took over, the Giants defense had them three and out. You couldn't
dare to hope that the game would continue like that, but it turned out to be a
Giants fans dream that continued right up to the closing bell. Eli Manning was
hot again this week, once again throwing 3 touchdown passes for the second week
in a row. He spread his 19 completions along to 10 different receivers. Unlike
last week, the defense stayed strong and Terrell
Thomas even contributed to the point total with his interception and 14 yard return
for a touchdown. They were all over Jason
Campbell and he had to leave the game with about a minute left in the first half.
Backup quarterback Todd Collins came in and got them into field goal range, but
they decided to try some sort of strange gimmick play that didn't work. I'm sure
we'll hear a lot more about that tomorrow. So the Giants got a much needed win
and it certainly would be great to see them make the playoffs, but if they do
or not, the one thing I'd really like to see is closing out the old stadium with
a strong powerful game like we just saw."

Game Notes:
"The
Giants made a big statement with their opening drive, that they were still alive
and kicking. The Redskins, following up with their three-and-out, made the statement
that they were done for the season. They had been playing strong lately, but let's
face it. They're playing without running back Clinton Portis and tight end Chris
Cooley, who are out on injured reserve. The Giants did spot them a shaky secondary,
working without Corey Webster and Aaron Ross. Then Rich Seubert was gone after
the opening drive and Hakeem Nicks left in the second quarter after looking to
be the big threat of the night with his two catches for 66 yards. The Giants
defense made up for any weakness in the secondary with constant up front pressure
coming from everywhere. Five different players recorded a sack and two interceptions.
The Redskins couldn't come up with a first down until there was little more than
three minutes left in the first half. The offense kept clicking with a good mix
of running and passing plays and finally they let Eli Manning take a break. David
Carr came in with about nine minutes left to play and he wrapped up the game.
So the Giants seem to have come alive at the right time or then again maybe just
a little too late. They sure could use to have Dallas drop one of their last two
games to make the playoffs. There are
only so many 'must win' games you can play before you're suddenly out, and all
the Giants know right now is that they are in the position of having to play another
'must-win' game on Sunday against Carolina." Early
