Game Notes:
"This game was moved from Minneapolis to Detroit because the Metrodome roof collapsed under heavy snow early on Sunday. It's really something when a game ends up being played on a different day and in a different stadium. Add to that, Brett Favre isn't on the field causing all kinds of problems for your visiting team. Still it was hard to see him there on the sidelines whenever they shot the camera his way. One streak I was glad to see end was Steve Smith's. He was back and playing. Smith only caught one pass, but it was his first game back and Eli Manning wasn't that sharp either, throwing two early interceptions.
I'm sure all the players were jet-lagged and even Tom Coughlin made a strange decision to go with a challenge in the second quarter when they were at third and inches to the goaline. He lost but Brandon Jacobs ran it in on the next play for the Giants to go up 7-3. Two players who seemed to benefit from being cooped up and 'held captive' with the travel delays and all were Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs. They exploded all over the field like little kids in a toy store and each ran for over 100 yards.
The defense played great and the only points they gave up came off a 21 field goal. That was after being stuck with taking the field on their own 34 yard line after Manning threw his first interception on his first possession of the game. I'm looking forward to next week at the stadium when we take on the Philadelphia Eagles. Manning won't be jet-lagged and maybe they'll cage up Bradshaw and Jacobs for a few hours before the game to get them ready."

Game Notes:
"Brett Favre's starting streak came to an end tonight with the football gods lifting heaven and earth, and even the NFL to give him one more day to recover from his injuries.
His 297 straight starts was really quite an accomplishment. With this game being relocated, the Vikings had to suddenly pack up their belongings and travel to meet up with the Giants, and they lost their homefield advantage.
Watching this game was a bit strange as you almost felt the television was on mute because of the fairly neutral last minute fan fill-ins. There wasn't much crowd noise and many of the fans who fought to get free tickets were probably hoping to see Brett Favre play in what may have been one of the last few games left in his career. Instead they got to see Tarvaris Jackson, completing only 15 of his 30 passes for 118 yards, fumbling the ball twice, being sacked 4 times, and throwing an interception to Keith Bulluck.
Jackson wasn't effective, and if Brett Favre is still out next week you may see them play third-string quarterback Joe Webb to see what potential he has. Aside from killing the Vikings passing game, the defense held Adrian Peterson to just 26 yards on 14 carries. Eli Manning wasn't playing inspired football and the offense relied on the running game which was more than effective to complete this game.
BTW, the NFL prepares for everything so don't be surprised if they have 'canned-crowd noise' available for broadcast purposes in case another football relocation ever occurs."
