"By the time the NFC East dust
had settled on the evening, 83 points and 11 touchdowns were scored and the Eagles
had taken the division lead. The Giants win over the Cowboys last week was huge,
and this opportunity to take things to the next level was even bigger, but it
wasn't to be. After seeing Dallas go down in the earlier game, the Giants had
a chance to regain the lead they once strongly held in the NFC East by beating
the Eagles tonight but they couldn't do it even by scoring 38 points.
This
was the third time this season that
the Giants defense gave up 40 or more. They let the Eagles do it twice now and
New Orleans once. What's happening with this unit? There were big expectations
at the start of the season and sure you lowered them when the players were hit
with injuries, but now with some returning back to the field and with others having
gained more experience in their roles, it just doesn't make sense.
The Eagles
may have too tight a grip on the division lead right now with their 9-4 record.
The Giants winning out the season would sit with just 10 so start thinking wildcard.
Even if the Eagles lose their last three, that means that one loss would be against
the Cowboys, and they have 8 wins right now. The Giants play
next Monday night in Washington, host Carolina for the last regular season game
in this stadium and then wrap things up in Minnesota.
