Notes: "It's always exciting to
see Odell Beckham Jr. make another fantastic catch like he did in the first quarter.
I just wish I could see him do it and then have the Giants win the game for a
change. It was disappointing for mostly everyone at the stadium, except for the
happy Jet fans. I guess the best thing to take away on a losing day like this
was getting to watch Beckham on the field. I'm pretty sure I never saw him out
there before for punt returns. It probably shocked the Jets players too when they
saw him because Dwayne Harris was able slip down past them for his 80-yard touchdown
return. During that first half Beckham also scored a touchdown. After the
Jets tied the game at 10-10, Beckham pulled in a pass from Eli Manning and took
it all the way downfield for a 72-yard touchdown. Josh Brown later kicked a field
goal and the Giants were up 20-10 at the end of the half. Things were looking
up and who expected the Giants would fail to score another point? The Giants had
a long drive that spanned from the third quarter into the fourth and Manning threw
a pass from the Jets 2 yard line to Rueben Randle, but it was intercepted. A touchdown
would have put the game away. Instead the Jets scored a touchdown and field goal
and the game went into overtime The Jets scored first after marching down the
field without much trouble. After getting a first down on the Giants eight yard
line, the defense held (finally) and the Jets had to settle for a field goal.
On the kickoff Harris got us all the way to the 42 yard line with another nice
return and I thought we had a real shot. Then I winced when I saw Beckham kick
the ball back to the line of scrimmage after he missed on a catch. That's not
the way the officials expect to get the ball back, and he was hit with a five
yard delay of game penalty. So now the Giants were stuck with a 4th and 6,
but Beckham made up for his mistake with a 20 yard catch to put us in field goal
range at the Jets 34 yard line. They advanced the ball only four more yards and
then Josh Brown missed on a 48 yard field goal. The next time they play at the
stadium will be against Carolina and after today I can't say I'll be expecting
a happy outcome."
Game
Notes: "It's the same old story.
It was another game the Giants let get away. Josh Brown had kicked 29 straight
field goals and it had to be today, at that point in the game to end the streak.
There were plenty of opportunities today and there's only so many 'woulda coulda
shouldas' before the door closes shut on the Giants this season. This was the
fourth time the Giants blew a halftime lead and worse, this time they were blanked
the whole second half and overtime, where they still had a chance to at least
tie the game. The Giants were down by three after scoring zero points in the
first quarter. Dwayne Harris changed things around on the first play of the second
quarter with his touchdown on an 80-yard punt return. Odell Beckham Jr. proved
once again that he's a really amazing player with his six catches for 149 yards
that included his 72-yard touchdown reception. Will Tye played well and had 3
catches out of four for 70 yards, but what happened to Rueben Randle? He had two
catches out of six and two of those incompletions were on that overtime drive
when Eli Manning was counting on Randle to do something. Talking about blown
chances in this game, Tom Coughlin's
decision to go for it in the fourth quarter on fourth down from the Jets four
yard line will certainly be questioned. Mostly that's because they didn't make
it, but from the onset his defense had been playing well and the two most likely
outcomes would be either scoring a touchdown or failing that, have the Jets take
over at their 2 yard line. The third possible outcome would be turning the ball
over in the endzone and of course that's what happened on a pass to Randle.
If they had gone for the field goal the Giants would have been up 23-10. A touchdown
would have the Giants holding a 27-10 lead with about nine minutes left. After
the loss it's just more 'woulda coulda shouldas' to look back on and that might
be a motto for the Giants 2015 season. But wait, the Giants are in the NFC East
where winning is a rarity. The Giants
were on top at a point where they could control their own destiny, but still they
are in the mix and anything can happen."

Notes: Giants
Odell Beckham Jr. had his fifth consecutive game with at least 100 receiving yards.
Beckham is the first Giants receiver to do that in a single season. Eli
Manning, with 43,073 career yards, moved past Hall of Famer Dan Fouts (43,040)
and into 11th place on the NFL's career list. Dwayne
Harris had a 80-yard punt return touchdown. It was the Giants’ first punt return
for a touchdown in 96 games. Dwayne
Harris is the third player in Giants history with kickoff and punt return touchdowns
in the same season, and he's the first to do it in 60 years. Jets The
Jets win over the Giants was their first since Oct. 31, 1993. The
Jets broke the Giants five-game winning streak against them. Next
