Game
Notes: "Of course just like
all the screaming fans, I really wanted the Giants to win this game, but I have
to admit even though that didn't happen, they won me over tonight. The way they
played I felt proud to be a Giants fan and I was on the edge of my seat the whole
time. This game was the equal to facing the undefeated Patriots in the 2007 regular
season game before beating them in the Super Bowl. The Giants took the top team
in the NFL to the wall. The Packers had their hands full trying to control Eli
Manning, his receivers and our suddenly awakened running game. The Giants
are back and look ready to go all out in the remaining four regular season games
that are left. I really believe that, so bring on Dallas twice, the Redskins and
the Jets. Let's see what the Giants can do down that stretch and then let's see
what the Giants can do in the the NFC Conference game when hopefully Green Bay
is there and still undefeated. I'd love to see that matchup. Go
Giants!"
Game Notes:
"After today, who's to say that Tom Coughlin
can't inspire a team down the stretch? That was a great effort by the Giants and
it came down to 3 seconds left and 3 points off a field goal, just that short
of taking a season long undefeated Green Bay team into sudden death overtime.
Who else has done so well against the Packers this season? Even if Tom Coughlin
doesn't totally get the credit he has a hand in things. Maybe part of the inspiration
came from seeing the the newly inducted Ring of Honor players, or Michael Strahan's
visit earlier this week, or feeding off the raw player enthusiasm of Chase Blackburn
returning to the team. It really doesn't matter if it was one thing or the combination
of all that got them going in this game. The players look ready to go and to give
it their all. A coach couldn't ask for more. As far as this game went, the
Giants were stuck substituting players right up until the last minute. They were
suddenly without center David Baas and OL Stacy Andrews. You had to love it that
Chase Blackburn made a big play in his first game back from obscurity. Aaron Rodgers
didn't see him and tossed that interception just as General Manager Jerry Reese
didn't see Blackburn or overlooked him as well. Blackburn was a former Giant free
agent that Jerry Reese turned his nose up at as he is prone to do. Other players
stood out as well in this game. Eli Manning obviously, and Victor Cruz, and the
running back duo of Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw pulled their load, and even
D.J. Ware, who rushed for the 2-point conversion to tie the game. There were
mistakes made as defensive coordinator Perry Fewell tried to mix up the defense
and confuse Aaron Rodgers, the hottest quarterback in football at this time. Also
the Packers made some great plays, just barely staying in bounds on many of their
catches - one of the reasons they're undefeated at this point. There were a lot
of close ref calls that went the Packers way. That all being said, do you think
Aaron Rodgers would pick this Giants team, maybe a bit healthier and with rookies
more established, as a team to face down the road if he had a choice?" Scoring:
