Game Notes:
"Am I crazy, but I really feel your better off having the opposing team start off on offense for the opening kickoff? It lets you have control of the ball at the start of the 2nd half, when you know their strengths and weaknesses and what you have to accomplish to win the game at that point. Anyway, Washington started on offense - the way I like it - and they went three and out. Next the Giants didn't make it look easy as they had to overcome a 3rd and 8 and a 3rd and 9 to keep things going, and they did it both times with Domenik Hixon. He caught the first pass for 13 yards, and the second for 15. That allowed Eli Manning to complete the drive with a 40 yard touchdown pass to Amani Toomer resulting in a 7-0 lead. The Giants scored field goals on their next two drives and never let the Redskins catch up.
It was troubling that the ground game wasn't working at first, so Eli Manning tossed passes to loosen things up. He had over 200 passing yards in the first half, and throughout the game he used his receivers well. Toomer caught five passes and had the most yards and that one 40 yard touchdown catch. Derrick Ward also caught five passes and the longest this game, a 48 yarder. Eli used Domenik Hixon like a fine wine throwing to him each time for first downs five different times. Kevin Boss, looking more like Jeremy Shockey each game he plays, caught 3 passes for 45 yards. Steve Smith caught 2 passes, both also going for first downs and Sinorice Moss playing with his brother on the opposite sideline, caught 1 pass for 7 yards.
I should note that in the second half a ground game that was sitting at only 28 yards finished up with 108. Most notably Brandon Jacobs seemed to magically walk slowly in space over everyone for his 1 yard touchdown run. So now the Giants have won seven straight games and look more than ready to take on the other division teams, Philadelphia and the Cowboys in the next two weeks."

Game Notes:
"Trick plays worked here and there, but the Giants defense turned the Redskins into a one trick pony. They tried reverses and receiver Antwaan Randle El successfully tossed one pass for 17 yards. As it turned out, tricks were Washington's best options as their running game was stopped cold, with leading rushing Clinton Portis gaining only 22 yards on 11 caries. Jason Campbell was the Redskins leading rusher scrambling for 38 yards on 5 carries. As they say, when your quarterback is the leading rusher, it wasn't a good game.
Devin Thomas came up with one nice run for 29 yards and a touchdown, and that was the only one the Giants allowed. The Redskins were aided in that one drive, starting off with great field position at their own 43 yard, an illegal use of hands penalty on Cory Webster, and of course, that double-reverse handoff play to Devin Thomas.
Jason Campbell was let down by his receivers dropping a few sure catches when they really needed them, but the weather conditions were far from perfect. Campbell finished up with 232 yards and one interception on his 23 completions on 38 attempts. The Redskins play at Baltimore next week, and they will need to come up with a whole new bag to tricks to win that that game."
