Game
Notes: "The weather wasn't that good
in the New York / New Jersey area today, so it gave us home fans a small taste
of what the players were experiencing in Chicago. Mostly the wind and poor footing
affected things the worst. Eli Manning didn't play his best game by far, but he
did manage to lead the team to two fourth quarter touchdowns. He got a ton of
help from Derrick Ward who ran for a Tiki Barber-like 154 yards and 1 touchdown
on his 24 carries until he had to leave the game with an injured ankle. Amani
Toomer was the go-to guy with his 6 catches for 69 yards and Tom Coughlin had
an early Xmas when the refs recognized his challenge and gave Toomer the credit
he deserved for a clutch diving catch in the endzone. They'll say they neutralized
Devin Hester, but the Giants turnovers kept the ball out of his hands three times.
Lawrence Tynes
kept it away twice when he kicked the ball out of bounds, but that gave the Bears
the ball at the 40 yard line. Taking that into account, Hester only got a shot
at three Jeff Feagles punt returns and one other Tynes kickoff return, for a total
of 35 yards."
Game
Notes: "Thanks mostly
to Eli Manning playing so poorly from the start, the Giants were behind the whole
game. The Bears secondary ranks 25th in the league and has only seven interceptions,
but Manning helped them out by giving them two more. You could say he improved
by cutting his interceptions down from last week's four, but he also let the ball
slip out of his hands for another turnover. Like last week, all of them resulted
in points by the opposition. Luckily for the Giants, the Bears gave them numerous
chances to catch up, and finally, they did it with about a minute and a half left
in the game. Of course that meant that the Giants had to withstand kicking
off to Devin Hester
(he took it to the Chicago 41), a bunch of no huddle and shotgun passes by Rex
Grossman (he got it to the Giants 28) and from there with 17 seconds left, he
took three shots at the endzone - all incomplete and game finally over. Eli Manning
seemed real happy on the sidelines, but he'll probably get only about a 2 day
break off of this win before the questions start up again.
Derrick Ward rested his ankle and groin for a few weeks, and he had a great game
filling in for an injured Brandon Jacobs, but we've probably lost him to another
injury. The defense hung tough even with the
replacement troops. Rookie Michael Johnson was
in for Gibril Wilson and second-year corner Kevin Dockery played for Aaron Ross.
Justin Tuck had 1 1/2 sacks and Kawika Mitchell
was credited with 1/2 sack and led the team with 12 tackles - 8 solo." Early

Giants
are 2 games ahead of the Lions, Cardinals and Vikings for the NFC's top wild-card
spot. In his 51st career start,
it was the seventh time he's rallied the Giants to a win in the fourth quarter.. Eli
Manning has led the Giants to 12 fourth-quarter comebacks that tied a game or
took a lead in his 53 NFL starts, including the playoff game against the Eagles
last year, when he connected with Plaxico Burress to tie a game the Giants eventually
lost. Of those 12 games, the Giants have won seven.. Next
