Game
Notes: "Giants - Cowboys games
are always exciting. The Giants defense got off to a good start getting them off
the field with a three and out. The offense showed that they came to play too
when they marched downfield and scored a touchdown. That was the first one Odell
Beckham Jr. had and as thrilling as it was to see that on the opening drive, his
next one in the second quarter was just unbelievable! It also put us ahead 14-3,
and after each team scored an additional touchdown, the
Giants had a 21-10 lead going into halftime. Unfortunately the Cowboys scored
14 points in the third quarter while the Giants went three and out until they
got one drive going, but it ended with an interception. The Cowboys had taken
the lead and in the fourth quarter when Eli Manning took it back with a 1 yard
touchdown pass to tight end Adrien Robinson to make it 28-24, I thought we had
this game in hand. Unfortunately the defense wasn't getting much pressure on Tony
Romo at this point and he put his team up 31-28 with a touchdown pass to Dez Bryant.
Eli couldn't get anything going on his last shot and that was that. The Giants
lost this one to the Cowboys, but all they'll be talking about is Odell Beckham
Jr. and his amazing catch and that you'll have to watch out for these Giants next
year when Victor Cruz gets back. It may seem strange to say that the Giants are
starting to turn things around considering they're on a six game losing streak,
but they came close these last two games, losing to San Francisco by six points
and this one to the Cowboys tonight by three. The level of competition gets
easier over the next few weeks until that very last game with Philadelphia. Hopefully
at that point, fans will be sitting at MetLife Stadium rooting for the Giants
to finish the season with an 8-8 record. Hey guys, that would be better than last
year's 7-9 and it can actually happen!"
Game Notes:
"The Giants are desperate for a win and once again came close for the second
week in a row. Eli Manning didn't throw five interceptions this game, but the
one he did throw was costly. Late in the third quarter the Giants held a four
point lead and Manning's attempt to increase it backfired when the ball was intercepted
near the Cowboys goal line and returned 45 yards to midfield. Four plays later
Tony Romo completed a 31 yard touchdown pass to Dez Bryant to take the lead 24-21. The
Giants fought back in the fourth quarter when Eli Manning marched his group 93
yards downfield for a touchdown to once again take a four point lead. The long
drive iced Romo and his offense for over six minutes and left them with exactly
3 minutes to come up with a touchdown or go home in defeat, as this was likely
their last drive in the game. Romo must have used his time on the bench wisely
studying up the playbook because the Giants defense had held him to 12 completions
on 20 attempts. On this drive, which included just 1 DeMarco Murray run, Romo
went 6 for 6, and his touchdown put the Cowboys up 31-28. Manning got the ball
back at the Giants 20 with one minute left and all three timeouts to at least
get in field goal range, but just like we had to tell you last week, these aren't
the Giants of yesteryear (going way way back to 2011). Manning had only two minutes
of bench time to study up because unlike Romo he completed only one of his four
passes as the Giants went four and out at their own 28 yard line. Kidding aside,
Manning was very impressive at times, going
12-for-14 for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns on third-down plays. Jennings
had about the same carries as last game, but his average per carry dropped from
3.3 to 2.7 a carry. However, when he caught the ball he did much better this week,
averaging 8.5 yards a catch. Imagine if the offensive line could open some holes
for him, and of course, as far as receivers go, Odell Beckham Jr. stole the show
from everyone pulling in 10 of 11 passes for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns, including
that one spectacular catch. So now
the Giants have lost six straight games, but the Cowboys really had to earn this
one. You have to give credit where credit is due to both these teams. The Giants
almost nailed it and even though they lost to a team that seems to be on a mission
this year, they showed that they can hang in and still be an opponent you don't
want to go up against."

doing so. Giants have lost six
straight games, currently the longest losing streak in the NFL. Giants
