Giants lose to the Titans 24-21.
Eli Manning was 18-of-28 for 143 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.
Tiki Barber rushed for 82 yards on 25 carries. Brandon Jacobs had 9 carries
for 54 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Plaxico Burress caught 4 passes for 44 yards
and 1 touchdown. Jeremy Shockey caught 5 passes for 39 yards. Tiki Barber
caught 5 passes for 30 yards. Gibril Wilson and Fred Robbins each had fumble
recoveries. Antonio Pierce and Fred Robbins had sacks. Reggie Torbor forced
a fumble. Game
Notes: "I don't know what happened.
The Giants were playing 'Tiki Ball' and it was working very well. After a three
and out start the defense had a fumble recovery, and the Giants got it going.
They were quickly up 7-0. Next possession they made it 14-0. Another fumble recovery
by the defense, and the Giants were up 21-0 at the end of the half and the game
was in the bag. The offense stalled in the third quarter, and did worse in the
fourth quarter, and the Giants lost. This doesn't sound like a very good review,
but that's what happened. The Titans intercepted Eli Manning twice in the fourth
quarter and their rookie quarterback, Vince Young, led them to a big come from
behind win. Uncle Bill in Dallas was probably watching this game, gearing up for
how he plans to put a lock on the NFC
East next week. I'm hoping the Giants will surprise him with Michael Strahan,
Osi Umenyiora, Sam Madison, Cory Webster, Brandon Short, and maybe even Sinorice
Moss. It looks like we'll need them all."
Game Notes:
"There's not much to say except that the
Giants can't win without all their starters. Let me clarify that, don't excuse
the the offense here, just the defensive unit. You see, the offense was supposed
to have 'all these weapons', but somehow they ceased to exist in the second half.
There was a lot of newspaper talk last week about Eli Manning and his quarterback
capabilities. It went to how Manning throws the ball and even how he carries himself
on the field - does he look like a team leader, etc., etc? This game, Eli
Manning threw 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions,
just like he did in last week's loss to the Jaguars, and
all the talk will only be heightened when they compare how a rookie like Vince
Young looks on the field compared to Eli who has been playing all his life and
in the pros for two plus years. Right now Eli Manning does not look like the 'quarterback
of the future' for the Giants, Tom Coughlin jumping up and down like a crazed
fan on the sidelines does not look like the 'coach of the future'. Things seem
to be in place, but then they all fall apart. The Giants are going up against
Dallas next week and right now only 'chef of the future' comes to my tired mind
- Ralph also had a game plan but failed at execution. Younger Giants fans won't
get it, but the way I'm feeling now, I don't care. (Chef
of the future link - TG staff)" Early
