Beckham Jr. caught 4 passes for 104 yards and 1 TD. Dwayne
Harris caught 6 passes for 82 yards and 1TD. Will Tye caught 5 passes for 56
yards. Rueben Randle caught
3 passes for 51 yards. Myles White caught 1 pass for 28 yards. Jerome
Cunningham caught 1 pass for 16 yards. Trumaine
McBride had 1 interception. Markus Kuhn recovered a fumble. Jasper
Brinkley, Craig Dahl and Robert Ayers each had 1 sack. Josh
Brown kicked 37, 38, 53 and 29 yard field goals. Game
Notes: "You know the Giants
always rise to the occasion when they play the Patriots, and at the half the score
was 17-10 in their favor. They came so very close in this game and almost got
the win. It was such a disappointment when they didn't. The Giants held a six
point lead going into the dreaded fourth quarter, and I wasn't the only one thinking
- Here's where they'll mess up again, but on the first play they came up with
a sack-fumble on Tom Brady. Thank you Jasper Brinkley and Markus Kuhn! Now
the ball was on the Patriots 31 yard line and I was sure Eli Manning was going
to put more points on the board. Unfortunately Manning took a 13 yard sack and
they had to punt on a 4th and 21. Only three plays later Brady made up for his
fumble with a 76 yard touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski and New England took over
the lead 24-23. When the Giants went three-and-out, and Brady marched his team
down the field again it looked like the fourth quarter jinx had settled in. Then
Trumaine McBride saved the day with an interception right at the Giants 1 yard
line. Manning kept the chains moving and threw the ball to Odell Beckham Jr. for
a touchdown and I was ecstatic until the call was reversed. Two more pass plays
didn't work and Josh Brown kicked a 29 yard field goal to put the Giants in the
lead again 26-24 with less than two minutes to go. Brady had no timeouts left
and he had to make a 4th and 10 from his 20 yard line or lose the game, and he
made it. Stephen Gostkowski had to kick a 54 yard field goal or lose the game
and he kicked it. Just like that the Giants were on the losing end 27-26. Like
everyone else I was so disappointed. The Giants had come so close to winning this
game, just like some of their others and I hope they can break this jinx for the
six remaining games."
Game
Notes: "You knew the Patriots were
going to target Odell Beckham Jr., but from the start Eli Manning made it known
he was going to throw it to him anyway. In all, Manning threw for 361 yards and
104 went to Beckham. Manning targeted him twelve times and Beckham pulled in four
including an 87 yard touchdown. Beckham just needed to hang onto the last one
to make it five and to help give the Giants a win over New England. While there's
no guarantee that a 30-24 lead would have held up the Patriots, with just 2:01
left on the clock and just one timeout, would have needed a touchdown to win the
game instead of a field goal. The Giants defense had managed to get Tom Brady
way off his game compared to his usual performances. They had sacked Brady three
times, caused him to fumble twice and even intercepted him once down by their
goal line. Bear in mind Brady's thrown only two others over the course of the
season. The defense also held the Patriots running game to less than 80 yards. This
was another game the Giants could have won. Did Beckham blow it when he didn't
secure the ball in the endzone after his catch? Yes, but like in so many football
games there are other factors that also could have made the difference. For example
there was 2:06 left on the clock when the Giants had a first-and-goal at the 5
yard line. A running play would have insured getting to the two minute warning.
Instead Manning threw that pass to Beckham which was ruled incomplete at 2:01.
Now the clock would stop on the next play no matter what you would call. For the
Giants it was an incomplete pass to Dwayne Harris, and after the next one, Manning
was sacked and the Patriots used their final timeout. Brady had 1:47 to work with
for his last drive and it took every second to get down to the Giants 36 yard
line to manage a 54 yard winning field goal. All in all the Giants played one
of their strongest games against one of the best teams in the league. They have
a 5-5 record and currently have the lead the NFC East. They move onto their bye
week and have a nice chance to evaluate the team and their upcoming opponents.
In fact they can watch the Eagles play twice over the bye week because of the
Thanksgiving Day game, and it may come down to beating them in the final game
to win the division title."
