Game Notes:
"When I saw the actual win loss
record for the Giants when they play in November, I was glad to see where
our bye week falls this season. The Giants lived up to their bad November
stats as they went down to the Bengals today. They are now 13-21 in November.
The guys threw more stats at me saying that the Giants had allowed just
two touchdowns in the first quarter in the first nine games, and today
the defense gave up two touchdowns to the Bengals in the first quarter.
I screamed back "Bye week. Bye week. Bye week'!
I covered my ears when they said that the Giants don't always do well
coming off bye weeks. Enough with these bad stats. All I want to think
about is that the Giants are 6-4 heading into their bye with a sort of
comfortable lead in the NFC East. I'm thinking that 10-6 or 9-7 could
win this division and that means my Giants need to go 4-2 or 3-3. They
play Green Bay, Washington, New Orleans, Atlanta, Baltimore, and Philadelphia.
Of course the big game could come down to - and probably will - that very
last one against the Eagles.
The only other observation I have for today is that Steve Weatherford
has to drop all the heavy lifting he does in the gym and pick up some
track shoes. Last week he made a tackle on special teams against the returner
and had to actually chase one down again this week. Sure I'll miss that
fine body, but we really need to stop those punt returners."
Game Notes:
"Just looking at the quarterbacks,
Andy Dalton and Eli Manning by the end of the first half both had thrown
exactly the same number of passes and completions. They were 15 of 20,
but the big difference was that Dalton's completions included 2 touchdowns.
Things were worse in the second half as Dalton threw 10 more passes and
completed 6 of them with 2 more touchdowns. Eli threw 26 more passes and
completed just 14 with 2 interceptions.
Last week before the Pittsburgh
game we were all making comparisons between Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger.
Now two games later Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning pales in comparison to
the Bengals second-year quarterback Andy Dalton. Manning has thrown six
interceptions and just one touchdown in the past four games.
Forget Manning, it's the defense too who couldn't touch Dalton for one
sack. Right now there is nothing 'Super Bowl like' about this Giants team.
They look like any other team out there sometimes making a good play while
failing too much at others. The Giants are even playing somewhat below
the Cincinnati Bengals who are rejoicing today in their win, thinking
they have a shot at anything at all in the NFC North. Thank you football
gods for the bye week coming up for the Giants and for the rest of the
NFC East playing so poorly. The Giants really need to regroup and figure
things out."
